Seafancy - anyone had a refund?

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 18:10

Hi all, I bought some swimsuits from the Seafancy website. I’ve tried to send them back and there is no customer service at all.

They literally just ignore any messages.

I’ve since checked trustpilot…

Has anyone uses this website and actually managed to get a refund? If yes, what’s your secret?

YABU - I’ve had a refund
YANBU - I’ve also not had a refund

Go through your bank, they should be able to help.

towriteyoumustlive · 06/05/2023 18:16

I saw their adverts on Facebook but as they have no contact details other than an email I decided against them as they're clearly not a UK company. Probably Chinese. Not listed on Companies House so dodgy looking!

If you paid by card then contact your bank.

HollyGolightly4 · 06/05/2023 18:18

Poor you. I so nearly bought from them the other day, but thankfully checked trust pilot.

Agree to try your bank.

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 18:29

I’ve tried to do a charge back via my credit card.

What a con!!!

Why would you buy anything from a company who advertises on Facebook/Instagram? Neither is checked.

Swansandcustard · 06/05/2023 18:44

Yep, ditto the FB ads, they’re rarely genuine. They quite happily steal the names of UK companies too, there’s a jewellery one which uses the same name as an Etsy shop, but it’s like cracker toys.

There’s one pops up that is allegedly Victoria Beckham make up which appears gen? And another one for eyelash conditioner which has what seems like a lot of really good real reviews. Thoughts anyone?

OP, I got caught out like this making a purchase from an ad on Pinterest. Ever since the I research a lot more!

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 18:47

I don’t use Facebook or Instagram.

I searched and it said it’s a UK website. I just forgot to check trustpilot. Hopefully the credit card company will help.

Anything ending in .co.uk doesn't make it a UK website.

And when you click on the price you can then change it into dollars etc...

I'd absolutely speak to the card provider although as you do have the goods they might want some proof of them being sent back as UK consumer rights laws do now apply here.

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 18:53

You can’t send them back as they don’t reply to any emails requesting a refund even though you’ve followed their daft procedures.

Actually if you paid with credit card then you won't be able to do a S75 claim as their items are under £100. :(

What's wrong with the items? You might be better off selling them on to claw back any money.

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 19:12

Oh wow, that’s not good news.
I ordered a few to try on. There isn’t enough coverage in places…

I got a refund but through PayPal - seafancy kept saying my swimsuits ' on the way' Mad thing is they did arrive like 4 months after they were supposed to! So got the refund & the swimsuits but long after my holidays. They were actually ok quality I'll use them this year!

Nik2015 · 06/05/2023 20:17

PayPal are good at sorting issues.
Wish I’d brought through them!

OP posts:
Rae197 · 20/05/2023 14:16

I'm having exactly the same issues. I bought several costumes to try on and need to return all as they don't fit. The quality is OK but like you, I'm having problems getting proper communication with them. O have just received an email today offering to refund me about 60% of what I paid and to just keep the stuff, or I can return to a US address at my own expense. Not sure whether to accept and settle for something or whether to push on ...

GolfForBrains · 20/05/2023 14:24

Also caught out with Seafancy (although like PP, the goods themselves were good). They did answer emails with more questions (including a request for a photo of me wearing the swimsuit that was too small! I said no and they backed down!) but offered me a 60% refund and to keep the goods. I sold them BNWT on Vinted and basically broke even.

Nik2015 · 22/05/2023 19:44

My credit card told me to email some specific wording which I did. When they didn’t reply the credit card did a charge back.

Seafancy can appeal for up to 45 days and the credit card company can’t advise me.

Then all of a sudden seafancy replied and sent a return address in…..America!
So I’ve sent them the good back, royal
mail, tracked service. It cost £31.

I don’t know when I’ll get the refund, but I’ve done what instructed.

Absolute con!!!

I saw another website which had lovely summer clothes on, fortunately I checked them on trust pilot as they are also dodgy. Beware where you’re buying!

I had to go to my bank to ask for a pay dispute.

The bank refunded me and went to sea fancy who have now sent me a return address.

The address is in the USA and I have to pay for tracked shipping. This cost itself is £18.50. Never again am I ordering off them. Awful.

Nik2015 · 21/07/2023 16:51

@LaurenrA I had the exact same outcome, except my p&p was more expensive. They only send the address when the card company has already refunded.
They didn’t even acknowledge that they’d received the goods back!
What a con company!

Seafancy...still waiting for my promised 65% refund. They said to contact if it hadn't arrived in my account in 30 days. I've been emailing for 3 days. 39 days waiting now. We will see😕

Nik2015 · 03/09/2023 20:30

@MrsPoe go through you’re credit card. They didn’t even acknowledge my return to them.
Terrible company!

Update - having sent my items back to seafancy (at a cost to me of over £20) I have received a full refund (excluding the cost of the return postage). So if you do want a refund I suggest you do persist. I emailed them a photo of proof of postage and they refunded me at that point. Very frustrating process overall and I won't order from them again as a result but thought I'd share with you all in case it means someone else can also get some money back!

BarbaraofSeville · 04/09/2023 14:52

I also fortunately checked Trust Pilot before ordering. Yes they advertise on social media, but they also have a reasonably convincing looking website and obviously trying to associate themselves with Sea Folly.

You can however, buy similar swimwear from Amazon which has free delivery and returns if you have Prime (if you don't, chances are they'll offer you a cheap trial during the order process). I've ordered a few things from them, and after some trial and error, I have three really nice tankini sets, that fit well, are good quality and I feel reasonably confident in. I ordered quite a few to try on and paid with a credit card and everything was refunded before the bill was due.

Fran326 · 15/12/2023 16:32

I too need to return swimsuit, what address have they given in America?

Swimmer2 · 28/01/2024 08:10

I emailed them and I did receive a reply, they still wouldn’t supply an address to return the swimsuit, they wanted a photo to prove the suit was not soiled, even then there was no gauge tee, will never use them again it’s such hard work. Will keep you updated.
