To think F off it’s my business if I take my kids to…

Walt Disney world florida.

kids will be both under 5, booked our first family to WDW florida and I’m incredibly excited as can’t wait to go and we got a great deal price wise BUT the reaction is not what I’ve been expecting.

in the travel agent on booking, older woman overheard and felt the need to say it’s absolutely silly taking children that young… I was taken aback

then at work chatting about upcoming holidays met with such reactions as ‘fucking idiots’ and selfish and more money than sense . My boss actually had to sort of intervene because the conversation felt quite heated and aggressive… since when did this become a thing? Why are people so against taking young children to Disney?

totally fine if it’s not your scene but it’s mine and kids under 3 are free so you don’t pay, mine have been to euro Disney twice and loved it . I don’t get this attitude

Up to you. Sure you’ll have fun but don’t expect them to remember it. I think that’s why people do Florida, to create memories but if you have the money to go again then who cares 🤷‍♀️.

My eldest will be nearly 5, so she’ll probably remember some, we’ll go again when they are around 6/8 and I can still take them out of school without too much being missed education wise. I went for the first time at 4 and I still remember pieces, we went on the cruise too and I thought it was the best thing ever!

I think you might want to change jobs OP, that’s a weird reaction. I think the unheated people might just mean your kids will be too young to remember it or particularly enjoy it - but if you’re going for you, that doesn’t matter. Have fun.

Ask them if they're paying for it if it affects them so much!

We took our 3 year old to Lapland at Christmas and got the same comments 😂

I did too! I can remember we stayed at the then yacht and beach club, the Disney cruise (I had to be a mermaid) winning a crab race, asking Mickey to jump on one foot with me, I think I even remember the cabin on the cruise, such fond memories

I wouldn't comment or care on what other people spent their money on, I think it's very rude of your colleagues to comment. I'm not sure your 6 year old will remember it though, when I think back I barely remember much before the age of 8 or 9 years old.

I agree that it's no-one's business but yours - it's hardly neglect! It sounds quite hard work to me, as holidays go, for kids who presumably won't be able to go on many rides (I don't really know as I've never been). But I assume you're comfortable with the logistics since it's your holiday. Have a lovely time!

I know lots of wealthy families who regularly go on long haul, exotic destinations. Disney land doesn’t really seem to be as much as a thing now for some families. My friend took her kids as she loved it when she was little, but most of my friends prefer other places. Each to their own. I think it’s had its heyday personally and it’s not somewhere I would want to go, but each to their own. Have a good time OP.

We took ours to Paris aged 5&7 and they only have vague memories.

If it was a once in a lifetime trip, it would better waiting but if you want to go again when older, why not. Its your money plus life is for living not for future memories.

Mine is two. This year we’re going to wales, have seen Acorn Wood Live, are going to see In the Night Garden live, he costs nearly £60 a month swimming … he won’t remember so I don’t bother? Confused

I went to Disney twice as a young child. I have zero recollections of either trip. The first time I was only two and and my mom had to sit out with me while my dad did the rides with my older sibligs as I wasn't big enough for most things. after the first day my mom jut stayed in the hotel with me at the pool as that was more fun for both of us than the park. The second time we went I was 4.5. They said I had more fun but I don't even recall ever going! We have some pictures so I know I was there but have no memories of it. We went back a third time when I was 15 (and to universal studios) and that was a blast and I remember it well. So I kind of agree with your colleagues!

Mine went for the first time at the age of just turned 2 and we had a wonderful time. My son was so starstruck with Mickey that he hugged him and wouldn't let go, I cried like a big wuss! It was magical and is a lovely memory. People really should mind their own business!

We went to Disney Florida when DD was 10 … we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, had Disney Dining, ate at Cinderellas Castle, and Beasts Castle. We all got hats with ears, and names embroidered at the back. We saw Anna and Elsa, DD in her Frozen Dress. We absolutely did it all .. fully Disney-fied

Cost a fortune… best holiday ever … such great memories.

I took my 4.5 year old as my parents wanted to treat us whilst they were young enough to still enjoy it themselves (given all the walking, queuing etc.) and he LOVED it. May not remember much but we do, no regrets at all. Everyone being mean are just envious.

If it’s a once in a lifetime trip then yes that would be sensible. If you’re planning on going a few times then who cares? 🤷‍♀️.

When so young realistically it’s more about the parents than the children but that’s fine as long as everyone is happy.
