How would you feel after 3 cocktails and a beer?

I've not had this much to drink for a while (guessing the cocktails were actually bloody strong, I'm wondering if they had 2 shots each?) and my god I can feel it mentally! Obviously alcohol is a depressant, but I'm not depressed, just a really distinctive feeling - almost like the alcohol puts a filter on my general mood?

Drank about a litre of water last night before sleeping, so no headache and didn't feel sick, although worried last night that I'd be sick as a dog this morning. But nope! Physically all good, yet mentally just noticeably different.

It was only supposed to be two cocktails but the barman gave us a freebie, and I really should know better than to drink something cos it's free Grin

How would you feel, physically and mentally, after drinking this sort of amount?

Drunk for sure.

shelbaba · 22/04/2023 22:11

Drunk! Prob sick before I even feel very drunk. I don't drink very often because I can't handle my drink it makes me quite I'll. 3/4 drinks is my limit but over a few hours.

I'm usually ok the next day I basically get the hangover during the drinking session!

inappropriateraspberry · 22/04/2023 22:12

I'd be loud, chatty and silly! Then get very tired and fall asleep.
Probably wake up with a headache, but a good drink of water and some painkillers would get me through on top of plenty of tea!

NotYourHolidayDick · 22/04/2023 22:12

I drink every day but have quiet a low tolerance I thought.

I had 2 bottles of wine last night and can't remember much, and was a bit dizzy when I woke up this morning but otherwise fine.

What you drank wouldn't have had any effect on me.

Sometimes though just a bottle of wine will have me puking the next day. I think my period cycles are something to do with it too.

I can do a bottle of gin over an evening, but that makes me cry the next day 😂

FangsForTheMemory · 22/04/2023 22:14

Depends if I am making the cocktails at home. Three of my Specials and I wouldn’t be able to FIND the beer.

Although the last time I went out I had 2 bottles of wine, 6 tequilas, couple of Malibu, some Prosecco and a cocktail
(Works do, £1000 behind the bar and we drank the lot by 11pm) Blush
I was disgustingly ill the next day and the room was still spinning at lunch time

Jeez. Shock I'd be in hospital after that much. Possibly dead. Do you drink heavily often? Are you worried about your consumption levels at all? I'm concerned for your health if you think this is funny rather than edging close to dangerous levels of drinking. Not trying to be a fun sponge but wow, that is a LOT.

BarelyLiterate · 22/04/2023 22:17

Back in the day, 2hen I was young, free & out on the piss, I would have felt pleasantly merry & ready for the night’s serious drinking to start.

Nowadays, I’m old & boring & sensible so my alcohol tolerance is way lower and I would probably feel ready for my bed.

Kyse · 22/04/2023 22:21

@MenoRageisReal nope no concern at all

My tolerance has always been ridiculous and I don't actually drink apart from the work do! I've had no alcohol since then and that was December

GuiltyPleasure · 22/04/2023 22:39

Over the course of an evening that would have zero effect & certainly not the next day.

usernother · 22/04/2023 22:40

It wouldn't have any effect on me. I'm not a big drinker in that I don't drink unless I'm out in a pub. I don't drink at home. But I seem to have quite a high tolerance for alcohol in that I can drink a lot more than other people before it makes me drunk.

hopsalong · 22/04/2023 22:43

Fine, provided I'd eaten something and the cocktails weren't dodgy mixes (Long Island iced tea type thing) of the dregs of multiple bottles. Am also assuming that the beer was normal strength. Four cocktails would be a different story!

TheOrigRights · 22/04/2023 22:43

I actually don't know, it's been a loooong time since I got drunk.
If I have a couple of gin and tonics (about once every couple of months) I'll sleep well and be tired the next day.

JamSandle · 22/04/2023 22:43

Awful.

Thehonestybox · 22/04/2023 22:45

Merry, probably no noticeable hangover next day. I have regularly drunk a bottle of wine at least one night a week for years though.

Best hangover advice that changed my life was a tip I got from mumsnet off a GP: ORS tablet before bed, and alka seltzer the next day.

bamboonights · 22/04/2023 22:45

If I'd eaten well, I'd be fine. If not, probably dreadful. All depends on my food intake.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 22/04/2023 22:46

I would be tipsy to drink

I haven't drink much in the last few years due to having kids and it just not being worth the hangover but me and DH went out last weekend and had quite a lot to drink. I also had 3/4 of a water jug, decaff coffee and then a cup of tea when I got home (drank 2 g&t's), 3 large glasses of wine, pudding wine and a port!) This is really a fuck load to drink for me.

DH told me that there's new science about hangovers and they are an immune response which acts in an inflammatory way on your body so if you take an anti inflammatory then it really helps.
We took two Nurofen before bed and I woke up fine and dandy just a little tired! Highly recommend

The night of the drinking, I’d be paralytic and and there would be a lot of singing, dancing and laughing. The following day I’d feel very ill, and probably want to lie on the sofa all day.

Snap! Let's go out!! 🤣🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 22/04/2023 22:47

Phone keeps autocorrecting drunk to drink!

FrenchandSaunders · 22/04/2023 22:48

I’d just be getting into it …

🤣🤣🤣

TheSoapyFrog · 22/04/2023 22:51

Depends on the cocktails really. Martinis, Long Island Iced Teas, or other ones mainly consisting of alcohol, I'd probably be a bit drunk - ready for karaoke. Fruity Cocktails with lots of mixers, probably nothing tbh, even with a beer.

Anyotherdude · 22/04/2023 22:51

Mellow

This
three cocktails in a bar aren’t strong

OnlyFannys · 22/04/2023 22:55

At the time 3 cocktails and a beer would have me well on the way to feeling drunk. I would enjoy it at the time but no doubt yet carried away and have too much 😁
The next day I would feel very low and tearful. I'm 36 and now my next day becomes very existential and I think about the inevitably of death and get quite panicky about it 😬 this is why I have stopped drinking more for the most part. I used to enjoy a bottle of wine at the weekend but I only drink for special occasions now as it's not worth it anymore

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 22/04/2023 23:02

Probably on the floor as soon as the fresh air hit me
