How would you feel after 3 cocktails and a beer?

I've not had this much to drink for a while (guessing the cocktails were actually bloody strong, I'm wondering if they had 2 shots each?) and my god I can feel it mentally! Obviously alcohol is a depressant, but I'm not depressed, just a really distinctive feeling - almost like the alcohol puts a filter on my general mood?

Drank about a litre of water last night before sleeping, so no headache and didn't feel sick, although worried last night that I'd be sick as a dog this morning. But nope! Physically all good, yet mentally just noticeably different.

It was only supposed to be two cocktails but the barman gave us a freebie, and I really should know better than to drink something cos it's free Grin

How would you feel, physically and mentally, after drinking this sort of amount?

Unconscious. But I’ve just had a baby and wasn’t a big drinker before that. Hope you’re okay!

AllOfThemWitches · 22/04/2023 20:05

Tired and anxious.

mynameiscalypso · 22/04/2023 20:06

I had 3 glasses of wine over dinner last week and it definitely impacted my mood the next day. I'm sure it was partly because I didn't sleep very well but it also just increasingly seems to have far more of a mental impact on me than a physical impact.

Like I was an amazing dancer (I'm not). Possibly even that I could sing (I can't).

EmmaEmerald · 22/04/2023 20:08

How many units?

Three cocktail bar cocktails, a bit merry. I won't count beer because I can't drink it - yeast or something affects my stomach?

WhereMyRosemaryGoes · 22/04/2023 20:08

Do you mean the next day?
Anxious, a bit paranoid, tearful, low.
I have a lovely time on the night, but the hangovers really push me down. It's not nausea and headaches, but low, low mood and regret.

Catuscatish · 22/04/2023 20:09

Well at first I'd feel amazing and hot (physically warm that is). Then I'd feel swirly and giddy.

Then for at least a few days I'd feel tired and emotional and very very old.

UndercoverCop · 22/04/2023 20:10

Merry, fine the next day. I'm very good at drinking lots of water before I go to bed

katedan · 22/04/2023 20:11

That is was a dull night!! 🤣 Sorry OP but although quite a few units hardly a lot as a one off!

Notreallyawaitress · 22/04/2023 20:12

Magnificent ! 😁
I had a vermouth, four good cocktails and half a bottle of wine the other night over 5 hours and surprisingly didn’t wake up with a hangover or feel drunk. Sometimes one glass of wine can make me feel terrible the morning after

EmmaEmerald · 22/04/2023 20:12

Also, if my stress level is high and I have a few drinks - I only really have spirits - I usually feel much better the next day, much less stressed. It might be that I sleep better, even if it's not technically sleep, I'm not awake and feeling anxious half the night.

I don't drink often but if I was still in a stressful job, I might.

This made me laugh Grin

Passed out, probably. That's more than I've had to drink in the last five years put together.

TheChosenTwo · 22/04/2023 20:12

At the time I’d feel quite tipsy but would most likely be okay the next day, I’m pretty good at drinking a pint of water before bed (when I’ve been drinking) and taking a pint with me (I do this anyway). 3 cocktails though - there’s always a massive variant between the amount of alcohol in them, some places it’s mainly fruit juice in tall glasses, others are smaller martini style glasses with a lot more alcohol and less or no filler juice. Some have lots of ice which dilutes it more and some have none. So it can totally depend.

GettingStuffed · 22/04/2023 20:13

It wouldn't have any effect on me.

jojojoooo · 22/04/2023 20:13

Depends really. I wouldn't be drunk but deffo be 'merry'

Main factor for me would be the company I was in, for example over the past two weeks I've had 3 large glasses of wine in an evening, 1 night with two of my oldest friends - felt fine the next day, no worries at all. The other occasion was a work event with people I don't know that well, did wake up slightly anxious as in "the fear" - ie oh god did I seem really drunk / was I getting too loud etc - even though I left before the majority of people and there was some seriously heavy drinking going on after I left apparently but even so I did feel on edge

Whatdayisitalexa · 22/04/2023 20:13

Would depend on the cocktail...after 3 long island ice teas or zombies, a beer would be something to rehydrate...3 mimosas wouldn't touch the sides

Coffeeandbourbons · 22/04/2023 20:14

Drunk; maybe a 6/10 drunk

Longingforthesummer · 22/04/2023 20:14

I'd be on the floor...I dont drink prob 2-3 times a year as always driving and dont get out.

I have a QUARTER bottle of wine in the fridge...been there since February. I had HALF last night 😄 I felt warm and hot so didnt dare have the other half 🤣

CindersAgain · 22/04/2023 20:15

Proper cocktails? They’d have a few units in wouldn’t they?
So I’d be pretty pissed and a bit ugh the next day. I’m

FlounderingFruitcake · 22/04/2023 20:15

I don’t drink beer but if I had 3 cocktails then a glass of wine I would feel a little bit tipsy that night and then be fine the next morning. Physically I’d be fine too. I’d had about double that last time I decided to see if I could still do the splits, a cartwheel then have a go on the kid’s trampoline- I felt that the next day and will not be repeating that again anytime soon.

CindersAgain · 22/04/2023 20:15

Not sure where the ‘I’m’ came from.

Kvetching · 22/04/2023 20:17

I don’t drink beer and 3 cocktails might make me a bit pissed, but I’d probably feel great.

Fuckthecostofliving · 22/04/2023 20:17

It's really interesting how it affects everyone so differently.

Are some people's livers just made from cast iron so they don't feel any ill effects?

Kyse · 22/04/2023 20:17

Would probably just be a bit merry if that. A bottle of wine doesn't do anything really for me so.. Grin
