How would you feel after 3 cocktails and a beer?

I've not had this much to drink for a while (guessing the cocktails were actually bloody strong, I'm wondering if they had 2 shots each?) and my god I can feel it mentally! Obviously alcohol is a depressant, but I'm not depressed, just a really distinctive feeling - almost like the alcohol puts a filter on my general mood?

Drank about a litre of water last night before sleeping, so no headache and didn't feel sick, although worried last night that I'd be sick as a dog this morning. But nope! Physically all good, yet mentally just noticeably different.

It was only supposed to be two cocktails but the barman gave us a freebie, and I really should know better than to drink something cos it's free Grin

How would you feel, physically and mentally, after drinking this sort of amount?

I don’t like beer so wouldn’t have that but 3 cocktails would be fine for me on the night, but merry but fine. Wouldn’t impact me next day either

The only alcohol that has affects me is wine. Prosecco I am fine with but actual wine makes me ill

Mrsgreen100 · 22/04/2023 21:06

Shit faced tbh

If I hadn't eaten ....pretty spaced out. If I had....nicely pissed but not staggering drunk.

User1990C · 22/04/2023 21:13

Fine. Merry and will sleep well, but depends on the time of day. As I've aged, drinking late isn't a possibility anymore. Stopping by 21:30 is essential to feeling fine.

OneTC · 22/04/2023 21:16

I'd be raring to get proper on it.

BTW when people say alcohol is a depressant it's nothing to do with mood. It's a CNS depressant

Crikeyalmighty · 22/04/2023 21:17

Terrible- but then I'm 61 and got some neuro issues.

At 30 and well - merry but fine -

gogohmm · 22/04/2023 21:21

Ok, unless they were really strong. Typically cocktails are 2 units but some are more and not all bars measure accurately!

gogohmm · 22/04/2023 21:22

I think that tells you we go out too much! Though tonight I've stayed in and am drinking water

Oysterbabe · 22/04/2023 21:25

I'd feel a bit merry and fine the next day.

ThinWomansBrain · 22/04/2023 21:25

the cocktails - depends on strength, but probably ok
beer - yuk, no thanks, never drink it.
Wine to follow with a meal I'd be fine

Ponderingwindow · 22/04/2023 21:28

3 cocktails and a beer. I’d be holding the rim of the toilet puking my guts out. That was true even in my 20s.

Oneglassisnotenough · 22/04/2023 21:31

I had two cocktails and two g and ts the other night for my husbands birthday. Was pissed but not shit faced .
I’d be pissed on three and a beer I think too.

dropthevipers · 22/04/2023 21:35

That you were my bestest mate ever and it was your round.

Youdoyoubabe · 22/04/2023 21:37

Bloody amazing probably!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 22/04/2023 21:39

I’d feel Ok but distinctly merry at the time. The next day I’d feel pretty bad - I get hangovers far out of proportion to have drink I feel at the time now I’m older!

afterdropshock · 22/04/2023 21:45

Skint.

CeriB82 · 22/04/2023 21:46

Pissed

but i dont drink anymore so I wouldn’t have them

WhatHoMarjorie · 22/04/2023 21:48

I'd be merry/buzzed and wouldn't suffer a hangover the next day. I don't find cocktails to be that potent, most just have two measures of alcohol in them. I don't like beer so would be surprised to find myself drinking that.

WickedSerious · 22/04/2023 21:57

I'd feel like I needed some gin.

I'm pretty sure it can do both types of depressing!

The CNS aspect is why you have to be very careful when on some prescription drugs eg valium is also a CNS depressant so can be dangerous to mix with alcohol

But alcohol (like benzos) also contributes to low mood or anxiety because it disrupts and desensitizes your GABA receptors - both benzos and alcohol bind to them. Many people do feel altered mood the next day as that wears off.

Tipsy buit definitely not at full throttle

Probably thinking of what to have next

Iminpatchinghell · 22/04/2023 22:01

Since around 33/34, as in age, if I drink enough to feel merry, then I get awful hangxiety the next day. Doesn’t matter what I drink. Last time it was two cans of cider. I’d actually rather have a headache and feel sick as the anxiety is horrendous and completely unfounded.

afterdropshock · 22/04/2023 21:45

Skint.

They were expensive! One of the reasons for being compelled to drink the free one Grin

WimpoleHat · 22/04/2023 22:02

I’d be very, very drunk - and hungover for the next full day (and possibly the one after that!). I love wine and cocktails - but as I get older, they do not love me! Any more than half a bottle of wine and I do not feel well the next day. Sadly…..

Tessisme · 22/04/2023 22:08

I would be asleep and snoring like a road drill. I'm a total lightweight these days.
