Really not enjoying my job at the moment, and wasting quite a bit of time thinking about how im not enjoying it. If you really like your job on the whole what is it you do?

NHS Clinical Psychologist working with adults with learning disabilities.

Anskl · 22/04/2023 18:43

I run creative writing workshops for autistic adults.

Pollyanna58 · 22/04/2023 18:44

Upholsterer. Retrained at 50. Best thing I’ve ever done.

Snoodleberry · 22/04/2023 18:47

Hotelier 🥳

Ali1702 · 22/04/2023 18:47

I have been a Childminder for 18 years.I love it.

Createausername1970 · 22/04/2023 18:49

I do admin. I WFH mostly. I chose my hours, as long as it's done it doesn't matter when I do it. My boss is an older guy, a gentleman. He is very easy to work for and never complains or puts pressure on me.

Thehop · 22/04/2023 18:53

Childminder. Love it. (Just not OFSTED and the paperwork haha!)!

Lapland123 · 22/04/2023 18:56

Medical consultant- love the clinical job. Previously was v fed up with managerial side, politics etc. Am now employed in a different way so am only doing the clinical work and absolutely loving it. Are there aspects of your job that you like, and some parts bringing you down?

Tarantullah · 22/04/2023 18:56

I work in cyber security, it's probably not that interesting to a lot of people but I enjoy it and I figure it's a secure career and pretty future proofed!

I retrained though after having DC, I was a teacher previously and although I loved working with children I hated all of the other crap. I am looking into volunteering at one of the local schools to run an after school coding club, they seem very interested especially I suppose as I am supplying the equipment too! Perhaps it'll combine both of my passions, hoping it doesn't get halted by red tape and whatever else.

Cuckoosheep · 22/04/2023 18:56

I was long haul cabin crew, I can't tell you how much I loved my job. I saw so much of the world and got paid for doing it. Absolutely amazing.

Tarantullah · 22/04/2023 18:59

Agree with PP it's worth thinking about what aspects of your job you dislike and what you think you'd enjoy as it's so individual for everyone. I'd ask myself:

Can I afford/do I want to retrain?
Is money important and if so what's the minimum salary I'd be happy with?
What working hours- flexi, office hours, shifts?
Work from home, from an office/other setting or hybrid?
Do I mind working with members of the public?
What's the job market like round me- any particular sectors locally that appeal?

pinksheetss · 22/04/2023 19:00

I'm a Document Controller but I think it's the environment I work in that make me love my job. I work on a construction site and the people around me are very laid back, good at their job and have great banter with. Makes such a huge difference

PlainJanePerfect · 22/04/2023 19:01

Civil servant designing public services. I'm fairly senior. I built and run a team of people all hand selected and everyone, while quite different, is lovely, respectful and gets along. We do interesting and varied work and see where our individual bit makes a difference.

That said, not all of civil service is like that and I know I'm very lucky!

endlesscraziness · 22/04/2023 19:01

Head of Emergency planning for a hospital

BHRK · 22/04/2023 19:02

Media, no two days are the same. It’s wonderful

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/04/2023 19:03

Housing. With vulnerable and sometimes challenging people. Never a dull moment, sometimes smelly and dirty and dangerous. But it’s work I believe makes a difference and people are so interesting.

redrobininmygarden · 22/04/2023 19:04

Op you have not told us what do you do ?

namechangejob · 22/04/2023 19:04

NHS clinical psychologist working in a forensic hospital.

Horsedoglover59 · 22/04/2023 19:06

House and animal sitter - I work through an agency. Lovely job, I can pick and choose to a certain degree which jobs I accept, get to know my clients and their animals, and get paid for it, and stay in some lovely homes. Not working at present due to ill health, and missing it very much.

SquirrelHash · 22/04/2023 19:10

I work term time only in a school in a non-pupil role. Excellent people, fantastic office, can drive to work in 10 minutes and park outside my office window, 13 weeks holiday a year, decent pay, great pension and a guaranteed pay rise each year.

Every day is fun and interesting and not so predictable as to be boring but not so unpredictable as to be stressful.

shouldisay · 22/04/2023 19:16

I have a job which I've found some people look down on but I love it. I have a food truck and head around different shows providing a good traditional Cornish pasty to people. They love it and I love them. I also do a bit retail operations in the side. Contract myself to a company. Again I love doing it. I've been in retail for 30 years and can't really see myself doing anything else to be honest. For every shitty customer there are a million beautiful people and for every complaint I get to talk to a million others and hear all their stories. I'm also introverted so usually need a week to recover after an event that lasts a weekend 😂

C1239 · 22/04/2023 19:16

Im in marketing/admin/PR which I enjoy on the whole but really don’t want to be involved in the events side anymore and unfortunately my role is becoming more and more that! I’m not enjoying it at all!

I work in professional sport but not in a sporting role. I absolutely love it, the salary isn’t amazing but the job and the experience (and some perks!) are
