I work in a hospice, absolutely love it 😊

YnysMonCrone · 22/04/2023 20:37

I work in Admin and HR for a charity for vulnerable young people, we do a lot of work with care leavers, homelessness prevention, independent living skills, and we run some supported hostels. I don't have much contact with our users but I run the office, organise the property maintenance, arrange training etc. Never two days the same and a great team.

dalmatianmad · 22/04/2023 20:38

I work as a forensics nurse dealing with Rape victims, taking intimate swabs etc
Before this, I worked as a senior Nusre in the NHS for nearly 30 years. I love my new job, it's alot slower pace but very rewarding. The NHS is screwed and I'm glad I left.....

I'm a receptionist/care navigator at a GP surgery and surprisingly to people I love it! Yes I get some very difficult patients but I also have some lovely chats with patients who are very appreciative of everything we do in primary care.

Passthewine45 · 22/04/2023 20:49

Fashion designer - womenswear. Something I always wanted to do since I was 13. Although now I'm thinking about going into a different area of design, mainly because I love designing things and fancy a change.

Nodney · 22/04/2023 20:53

@Tarantullah would you mind PM me too? This is also something I have considered but don't have a degree in coding

GinBooksChocs · 22/04/2023 21:03

Would you mind if I asked about your role please endlesscrainess ? This is an area I'm looking into.

I’m a teacher and used to adore it. Could easily love it again if schools and other children’s services were properly funded.

sleepyscientist · 22/04/2023 21:12

I'm a NHS scientist (think blood samples) I love the science/medicine side of my job. The NHS is challenging, but I must enjoy it as I'm looking at going back to uni for a more clinical role. Too many medics on the thread to admit what course I have my eye on tho 😬

AnneElliott · 22/04/2023 21:12

Civil servant. I work in finance but I get to do policy and support the emergency services. Absolutely love my job. The people are lovely and it's different and interesting every day.

The3rdWatermelon · 22/04/2023 21:14

I work for an environmental charity, giving land management advice and finding sites and funding for environmental improvement projects (carbon capture, biodiversity improvement, conservation, pollution reduction, that kind of thing). The pay isn’t the best, but I work with a lovely team, and I have a fairly generous degree of freedom to shape my own role. The work-life balance is pretty good, and I get to explore the countryside and meet fascinating people, while feeling like I’m doing something towards making the world a better place.

Bk1000 · 22/04/2023 21:16

I was a field ecologist and absolutely loved my job unfortunately had to give it up because of childcare issues now have my own dog walking business which I enjoy to an extent but I miss ecology so much, especially at this time of year! Hoping to get back to it when my kids are older.

1:1 teaching assistant for an amazing little girl who has taught me so much about the world and how to live life in all its fullness ( part of our school vision from John10:10) in a brilliant CofE primary school.
Although as some as you know I’m currently going through the discernment process with the Church of England to see if I will be accepted to start training to become an ordained priest.

Ruthietuthie · 22/04/2023 21:27

I am a professor and a writer. I love both and love the fact that, because of the funds from my non-academic writing, I don't need to teach full-time (I teach every other semester - best of both worlds).
