Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Earl Grey fruit scones (like cone) with blueberry jam and clotted cream.

Thank me later.

Would really help if posters could actually - you know - read the full thread or at least the OP posts @Mollywollywoo @Queenbee77 @Hmm1234 it’s moved on.

I’d message the commenter and say it wasn’t you and you need to make that clear

billy1966 · 23/04/2023 18:09

We adore an affogato here especially on a hot afternoon.

My teens love them.

They are the perfect late night desert with a Nespresso decaf coffee.

Kahla coffee liqueur is a delicious addition too.

DetectiveDouche · 23/04/2023 17:49

I’m referring to the AFFOGATO above.. which the quote doesn’t show

I knew straight away because it's really the only thing that can cause so much delight

They are playing with her isn’t the whole point for it to be an anonymous gift. It sounds like the person was just making a sarcastic joke. Like when you have flowers delivered but no sender other people are bound to say it was me. Lighten up

Read the whole thread and see how
Much we all lightened up. Oh how we've laughed.

Are they as simple to make as they seem

I mean I had one and it look simple but the waiter made out like there was a secret.

Can I do this at home. Ice cream. Pour an espresso.

I can't believe something so ridiculously beautiful Is that simple to make

My friend was having a difficult time
l was trying to reassure her things may not be as bad as they First seemed
on the days that followed
She recieved a surprise gift of afternoon tea
and asked me did l send it to her
which l didn’t

so several days later l asked did she find out who sent her the gift
she said “was it you l said no it wasnt
but made comments on the days that followed as if l had sent her the surprise gift
which l said Didn’t But it didn’t matter me telling her I didn’t send an afternoon tea gift she believed it was me
there was no way she believed me and still didn’t know who sent it
l don’t know how to fix this

Monstersinked · 23/04/2023 18:27

There's a good food recipe for affogato which makes me feel less stupid for asking if it's easy to make 😃

Oh yes @Monstersinked another one straight after mine - “ message the commenter” 🙄
I have very much enjoyed this thread - thank you - who know scones and cream tea could be so entertaining !

BouleBaker · 23/04/2023 18:29

I do love an affogato, especially if they put a tiny bit of crumbled amaretti biscuit on the ice cream BUT I go rogue in how I eat them.

Sip of hot black deep coffe

Tiny spoon of ice cream and crumbly bits

Repeat

THEN AND ONLY THEN, douse the ice cream with the rest of the espresso.

Then I've had ice, cream, coffee, and dessert.

ApiratesaysYarrr · 23/04/2023 18:30

I'd go for the "oh , you sent her one as well?" approach with a photo of enough of the receipt/confirmation email to show that you have done it, but only if it was something like a birthday.

When you've given it because the recipient is having a hard time, I wouldn't as it might stress them more to see 2 friends fighting it out on FB, but I would definitely send your friend a text to say that you sent it, as others have suggested.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 23/04/2023 18:31

Monstersinked · 23/04/2023 18:12

Ooooh. Will I have to bake them?

Well, if you put your fruit in the Earl Grey to soak now - you might be ready for three pm tomorrow.

Always good to have an excuse for another tea...

Saltired · 22/04/2023 11:07

See, I’m much more passive aggressive. I’d comment under their comment saying “well this is awkward 🌚” and then message friend who I sent the gift to saying “glad you enjoyed it”

Perfect.

Amaretto biscuits on top, yes! And Kahlua or Ameretto liqueur on top as well. Bliss

They are so easy and much enhanced with a shot of Amaretto, or my current favourite, roast coffee Kraken,

CherryCokeFanatic · 23/04/2023 18:48

I hope this makes it to classics lol

Whatthetrolley · 23/04/2023 18:49

Just adding a curve ball in. I first had this on the Isle of Wight and have managed to convert a few people

CHOCOLATE CREAM TEA

Hot Chocolate (great for those of us that don't do tea or coffee)
Scone (as in gone) with chocolate chips
Nutella
Clotted Cream
And a few strawberries, to make it slightly healthier 🤣

JMiam · 23/04/2023 18:53

Maybe they just keeping up the surprise element with that comment..? They would know it's likely the OP is gonna eventually find out who sent it and would likely see their comment. Just my 2 bob 🤷🏼‍♀️
