Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

I’m trying very hard to lose weight and have eaten all my days allocated calories just on cream tea. It’s going to be a long hungry evening and night

PyjamaFan · 23/04/2023 16:17

I'm dairy intolerant now (thank you menopause) so am just dreaming about the taste and texture of clotted cream on scones

CherryCokeFanatic · 23/04/2023 16:21

Absolutely hilario thread I’ve been laughing non stop haha now I need a cream tea. I bet Aldi will see sales of scones and clotted cream up 20% today haha

Noodlehen · 23/04/2023 16:25

This was my favourite thread.
to add my thoughts;

  • scone like gone
  • warmed slightly (want to try toasted)
  • real butter
  • strawberry jam (preferably a posh one)
  • a tableteaspoon of clotted cream on top
  • pot of tea

on a side note, I bought clotted cream Friday and forgot to by scones. By the time I finish with this thread I’ll probably be eating it out the tub.

The kids are asking why I'm not eating dinner. I'm all like. Awe I'm full darlings.

But like you. I purged on the cream tea and I'm not sorry. It was a good 24 hours 😍

I put a dollop on each scone and then ate a huge spoonful. Made me wretch a bit but, hey life's nothing I've we don't live on the edge friend .

And don't get the strawberry and Prosecco jam I used. Cost a fortune but too "tangy"

Scone (like cone)
salted butter
blackcurrant jam or lemon curd
clotted cream
Enjoy!

redspottedmug · 23/04/2023 16:57

Our local tea room serves Cheddar and chive scones, tomato chutney and cream cheese. Scone is huge, warm and divine.

Is that a thing that happens? Menopause making one lactose intolerant?

PyjamaFan · 23/04/2023 17:22

Developing food intolerances is one of the potential symptoms. I get a rash and feel horrible now if I have dairy.

Montbab · 23/04/2023 17:27

The first comment could have been genuine and then when her friend assumed it was her she might have felt embarrassed to say oh actually it wasn't me. I wouldn't leave any comments on Facebook as she hasn't directly claimed it and it could end up making you look/feel bad

ThatFraggle · 23/04/2023 17:27

Even more to look forward to...

Yep. It's the gift that keeps on giving!

Oh you have to reply under their comment like you haven’t even noticed it and say something like, “you are so welcome, just a little something from us to remind you how special you are”. Oh I’d lay it on thick then count to ten and see how fast the other comments disappear. Taking the credit is just rude… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

TheWitchOfShields · 23/04/2023 17:43

OP, try Morrisons extra special scones, they've got a crunchy sugar topping. Warm them in the oven for a few minutes and top with jam/cream of choice. Raspberry and lightly whipped double cream for me 😋😋

It would be funny if that really had been what happened.

That actually happened to me, one of my friends caught COVID, badly and had to cancel her wedding. I sent her some colourful flowers and chocolates, my other best friend had the same idea and they both arrived within 2 hours of each other. We'd both done the Prestige postbox flowers due to COVID, so it was exactly the same

Queenbee77 · 23/04/2023 17:47

#Catmummyof2#
I would definately say this...and add...well two treats at same time...shows how much we appreciate you and want you to have a good time....
But then its true it sounds petty but why should someone else take credit?
Or did she actually send her something? ....

wishingstaar12 · 23/04/2023 17:48

This made me spit my drink out 🤣 you can never go wrong with a Phoebe Buffay style song...petty and I'm here for it

Monstersinked · 23/04/2023 14:54

It's a delight

Oh good God… how have I reached the enormous age of 51 whole years, and never experienced this delight, which I’ve just looked up? It sounds at least as good as espresso martini! I NEED THIS URGENTLY ❗️

DetectiveDouche · 23/04/2023 17:49

I’m referring to the AFFOGATO above.. which the quote doesn’t show

Hmm1234 · 23/04/2023 17:58

They are playing with her isn’t the whole point for it to be an anonymous gift. It sounds like the person was just making a sarcastic joke. Like when you have flowers delivered but no sender other people are bound to say it was me. Lighten up
