Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Because she never actually said she sent it, friend isn't going to say or do anything, it would make things far too awks

And I certainly won't say anything. I wouldn't put cheeky cow or my friend in that position

Think she may just take off the tag.

She's just replied with an, okay love.

Feels a bit anticlimactic but probably for the best 😝

Perhaps your friend could update the FB post with “ I’ve finally found out who my surprise cream tea benefactor is. Thank you Monstersinked, it was a lovely, thoughtful gesture and much appreciated xx”

I’m ready!

Was scared there’d be none left 😂

Daily Fail Headline: "It's all Scone-on on Mumsnet! Parenting website causes unprecedented run on Aldi Clotted cream."

Picture of sad faced woman standing outside her local Aldi and inset generic picture of a plate of scones.

It shall forever be remembered as the Creamy Fucker Scone Movement

This - tea with jam, scones and cream (usually clotted cream).

That jam looks like a dog turd 🤢

Monstersinked · 23/04/2023 11:33

@Casilero I also think we could be neighbours!!

Though it was the d the s restaurant that we went to, it was the G one. Absolute chaos and l loved every second!

The cafe is the the one in the village beginning with a H, up a hill, but it's closed today and you have to pre book the orders! They market it as afternoon tea but if you ask for a deviation they will oblige!

I've just look on Uber eats, that ice cream place in the town centre might have one for you, or the very popular farm shop. I've had one from there before and it was lovely (bloody expensive though)

My fillings. It's strawberry over the preferred raspberry but I'll be able to live with that

V peeved I can't 'down tools' and whip out my cream tea when the siren goes off, as attending an event this afternoon. BUT IF I COULD, I would not be eating it with strawberry jam, which is a sickly sort of jam, and would have raspberry or (ooh, fancy) cherry.

And there would be no effin raisins or currants or sultanas in my scones. Ever.

When the alarm goes off I bet all you'll be thinking of is CREAM TEA

You could have a cheese scone. I love a cheese scone.

I actually might like a cheese scone more than a cream tea but for science I'm sticking to cream tea today 🍦

Me too. A warm buttered cheese scone and a bowl of soup is a feast fit for a king.

I’m really annoyed that the John Lewis espresso bar seem to have stopped doing the sun dried tomato and basil cheese scone.

IHateLegDay · 23/04/2023 11:50

I'm partial to a plain scone but have been known to indulge with cherry or apple scones 😍

Monstersinked · 23/04/2023 11:54

@KimberleyClark A cheese scone with soup. Oh my god. What a flipping marvellous idea. Thank you, That's lunch tomorrow

@Monstersinked I think I am a neighbour too. Is the farm shop in the village of N ? I am looking for a cafe that does a decent afternoon tea for a friends 40th wedding anniversary. Will look at the one in H 😉

Yes! That one.

If you're looking for a full afternoon tea for your friend I would go to the one in town. Name sounds like where your kids Pe kids end up!

I had a scone (like con) for breakfast this morning. There was clotted cream in the fridge so, in honour of this thread, it had to be done.

It was a fruit scone (always needs to be a fruit scone). Cream first. Cream last too as I find jam too sweet! 😀

Confusion101 · 23/04/2023 13:02

@DontMakeMeShushYou Everything about your post fills me with rage.
Scone like cone
Plain scone
Jam base
Cream

Hopeful16 · 23/04/2023 13:17

Soooo.. in relation to cheese scones, I had the MOST amazing experience at The South Devon Chilli Farm several years ago. SAVOURY cream tea - cheese scones with cream cheese and chilli jam.
I have copied it many times since. I love it as I'm not a sweet things fan.

AliceOlive · 23/04/2023 13:17

Im in US and never had a scone with cream or jam. Only plain. I can’t make the 3PM UK Scone-on but will be rectifying all of this having my first this week.

I’m already convinced that jam first must be best. Also, scone like cone. But am delighted that there are options because I used to say it the other way.

I used to live in the village beginning with H so know where you mean!

Can also recommend the place in town where kids pe kits end up. Funnily enough I was looking at their website yesterday, inspired by this thread.

I think I'm going to have to go out to the farm shop now as I really need some of their rare roast beef, pork dripping and some pork pies. I also am craving ice cream, but from the placs beginning with D just outside town 🙃

This is a great idea. I'm thinking cream tea type diner sort of party with savoury starters just like this and cream tea pudding!
