Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Slather with cream and jam on top.

ThatFraggle · 22/04/2023 20:33

Can someone make a note of the butteless deviants and 'cream first' reprobates and organise some sort of prison roundup?

I think she's still a CF - as PP have said, she's still basking in the public glory of alluding to her being the gift giver. But also, eased any guilt she may have by privately texting the recipient!

DrFoxtrot · 22/04/2023 20:36

Also I'm generally a cream first, butterless scone eater and it's the only way if it's clotted cream 😇. It all depends on the cream...

Clotted cream = spread like butter, then jam.

Whipped cream = jam first then plop cream on top.

AmytheDancingBrick · 22/04/2023 20:41

😮@DrFoxtrot - there is no place for you here!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/04/2023 20:43

I commented previously re the OP's dilemma , but I see this thread has gone quite off course!
As a neutral third party I'm happy to settle the new issue presented...
First: scones require a bit of butter if warm
Now the matter at hand. The only order that makes sense is jam followed by a dollop of cream. Jam is a spread. Cream is a topping.

Your welcome, from the Commonwealth

Whipped cream? Straight into the dungeon. No appeal.

EXACTLY THIS!! How certain members of society cannot fathom this is a total mystery. Thank you!

This is one of those threads that exposes the deviants of society. Like those who put the jam on first, for example. 😂

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 22/04/2023 20:53

For ducks sake….it’s warm scone, no butter (why would you??) strawberry Jane and then a big dollop (Like 1000 calorie dollop) of clotted (and only clotted!!!) cream.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 22/04/2023 20:54

Strawberry jam even.

I may have made a few spelling and grammar errors in my furious typing!

Buttless? I have a 🍑

Chimneypotblues · 22/04/2023 20:57

I'm a butter, then jam then cream person. Means I can spread as thick a layer of each as I care for. I once tried cream first and I couldn't put much on without making it impossible to spread the jam, and when I did spread the jam it mixed in with the cream a bit and looked rubbish.
I just don't get it: do these jam second people use next to no cream or put a great big unspread dollop of jam on top??!

If you couldn't spread the jam on the cream then you obviously weren't using clotted cream.

Chimneypotblues · 22/04/2023 21:18

@JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain how dare you, I wouldn't dream of using any other kind of cream!

Are you sure you weren't using milk?

inappropriateraspberry · 22/04/2023 21:22

Hello, I live in Cornwall and don't like clotted cream... 😬
Always butter first, then jam, then cream (if having). I do butter, jam and a speck of cream in the middle. My Cornish brethren do not understand. Tbh, I'd rather have a packet of crisps!
