Someone's taken credit for anonymous treat!

Quick silly one but not sure what to do.

Friend has had a hard time so I've sent them a cream tea type surprise treat. Left the card anonymous but she finds it difficult to receive without reciprocating and I wanted her to have something just for her with no strings, to cheer her up.

She posts it on social media, another Friend (I don't know) comments, saying enjoy, glad you like, you deserve it type thing

My friend says ahhhh was it you, youre amazing

Other friend says wink wink it's anonymous so I guess you'll never know

Now, to me there alluding it was then. Taking all the bloody credit. I know I didn't send it for credit or even thanks but I'm a little pissed off!

Butter, then jam, then cream. Fight me.

No, you’d be all slippery from the application of unnecessary butter. Unfair advantage.

Correct. You may stay.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2023 15:45

Always cream first. Then jam

Coz cream is like butter

You don't put jam then butter

What is going on here today?

Always jam first!

Always. Interestingly friend says this cream tea has been sent with both strawberry and apricot jam. That's disgusting and I may have to add it in my review

First not tea bags
Then there were tea bags
Then someone stole my credit for sending
Then apricot jam
Sorry cafe cafeeè but it's a 2 star

But the jam would surely slide off. I mean, I'm willing to try it your way, go in, send me one so I can.

In Devon, the scones are split in two and topped with cream followed by jam. In Cornwall, the split scones are topped with jam and then cream.

We're in Yorkshire so what should we do?

I just about fainted at mention of apricot jam. Cream tea vendors should know better, if they want to be worthy of the name.

You should do it the Lancashire way - Butter, jam, cream...

Devon is wrong.

@ThatFraggle do you mean snapped. Or did I miss a scream one?

Gooooo TEAM DEVON 👏

Chewmeric · 22/04/2023 15:54

There is no place on a scone, which rhymes with gone, for cream. Butter is acceptable. Other stuff only in desperation.

I haven't RTFT so apologies if this has already been decreed.

Littlegoth · 22/04/2023 15:54

@AmytheDancingBrick I was just about to suggest this.

I’m a Lancashire lass recently returned from Yorkshire 😂

I think there was a thread years ago where op said she screamed in ecstasy when she saw the Sistine chapel.

I couldn’t type before now as I was so weak.

AmytheDancingBrick · 22/04/2023 15:57

@Littlegoth it's the only way!

RobinHumphries · 22/04/2023 16:01

Devon clotted cream is thicker than Cornish clotted cream. So Devon clotted cream can be sculpted to hold the jam and Cornish is like double cream so the jam would slide off.
to summarise Devon does better clotted cream and therefore better cream teas.

The Sistine chapel thread was bloody brilliant. I think it got deleted in the end because the OP was a troll, but it was hilarious.

Mummyratbag · 22/04/2023 16:02

Not Cornish (but my kids are), I don't like cream, BUT it is most definitely JAM FIRST...I would be disowned if it was anything else, my son even asked me if I was going to embarrass him by eating a pasty with a knife and fork what with not being Cornish..
