26 year old son never seems to date

I'm going to get flamed for this I know, but my 26 year old son never seems to date, I don't think he's ever had a date. He goes out with his mates, goes to the gym & park runs. He's a good looking lad & nice with it, maybe a bit shy.
He still lives with us for the simple reason he's saving for a deposit & doesn't want to rent. Pulls his weight around the house, so he's not an overgrown man chid still living at home.
I know it's none of my business but he's never had a girlfriend, never dates, never bought anyone back. Should I be worried about him in the future? He seems happy enough; but when the subject of young men still living at home with parents & never been in a relationship is brought up on mn a lot of women say its a red flag. He does want to move out & says he aims to be out in a couple of years. He'd never talk about why he doesn't date, & it's not my business anyway. I'd hate it if dating & relationships became more difficult as he gets older, if he ever does want to start. Is it really so much of a red flag these days?

Don't think about it.
My in-laws are convinced that I was my husband's first girlfriend. I wasn't. He just never ever took them home as he found his parents overbearing and intrusive. You posting this makes me wonder whether this would ring true about you too.
You may not realise it.
My brother is also, as far as my parents are concerned, eternally single. He's my best friend and I know otherwise.

Ds2 aged 21 told me he's bisexual and has only had one date so far.
Ds1 is four years older and just doesn't do social stuff (still in touch with a couple of school friends, but doesn't meet in person often). He's just very content with his own company, gets on well with work colleagues, but doesn't meet up with them outside work. It's just who they are.
They're both very laid back and appear to be content in their lives.
They've both only just moved out, but I'm assuming they'll continue as us for the time being and if they do meet someone they want to share their lives with that's a bonus but I won't worry if they don't as long as it's not bothering them

Hmm..he may well be gay and not willing to discuss it with you or come out to you. I’d not use my going in position as dating girls. If he’s seeing lads and not willing to discuss it with uou he will be doing it elsewhere. Leave him be, if he is shutting down the conversation he doesn’t wish to discuss his sex life with you. Just make sure when you have previously asked you’ve not assumed girls and said that.

@AnuSTart I have to admit I can be a bit over bearing when it comes to my family. I just want them to be happy & have the best life they can. But I can't make that happiness for them, they've got to do it themselves. We've done our bit & I think we've done a good job. He seems happy enough.
A couple of times he's said I sound like Marie off everybody loves Raymond, & I have to admit i can hear it myself lol. Although I do promise that if he lived across the street I wouldn't be over there every 5 minutes as I like my own space & to do my own thing too much

🤣🤣Uh oh, take heed, OP. You don’t want to end up like Marie!

Oh dear, well given Marie's relationship with Deborah, it might be why he doesn't want to bring girls home. And since he lives at home, he can't date. Pretty sure he'll start in earnest once he's moved out.

hes only 26, not 36 or 46. Leave him alone.

TheLostNights · 22/04/2023 18:16

Even if he was 36 or 46, he can do what he wants.
Being in a relationship isn't the be all and end all. I can definitely see the appeal of staying single. Can't believe people are still discussing it in this day and age.
