I don't believe we've been to the moon and SpaceXs failure further convinces me.

I know I've posted this before and the majority of you think I'm batty, but I don't think we've landed on the moon.

3 billion USD, a giant leap in technological advances and yet it can't even launch.

My dad could get it up in 1969 I doubt he could now. Does that mean I don't exist?

😂😂😂😂

Highdaysandholidays1 · 20/04/2023 21:25

@notimagain I agree, there are a lot of very shitty blurry images and then these amazing stellar ones- so they are either the best of the bunch, or they are faked, it is quite hard to see how they would have taken such amazing shots with chest height cameras and some of the others are really at odd angles.

The other evidence of moon landings is more compelling than the photos, I think.

I don't think people are wrong to question though, at the time there really was not much more than the photos in the newspapers and some grainy footage for most people.

The media feeds us crap all the time and it's natural then to realise this and become suspicious. The Russian press say the Russians are doing amazingly well in the war, the Western press constantly reports that the Ukrainians are on the verge of winning- if either of these things were true why are they still all stuck there fighting? Covid also showed us that mass press is incredibly manipulative, at one point anyone who thought Covid came from a lab was laughed at on this site, but since then the theory has been comprehensively studied, and the jury is still out.

Good to question constantly, I don't know why people are being mocked for doing so.

You just haven't bothered to learn about reusable rocket parts, physics electronics all sorts of other things that work together Jamaica rocket and they're making launch. Such a shame you haven't bothered learning about even the basics that stop you sounding stupid.

The stupidity of this post is one thing, the fact that around 23% of people (when I voted) agreed is even more troubling.

I wouldn't worry too much, probably 95% of people just rolled their eyes at the thread title and couldnt be bothered to engage with the foolishness. The people who clicked on this thread are either conspiracy theorists, or people with a genuine interest and knowledge about space- both very small minorities

I quite like the image of a massive rocket sized spliff gently chilling out on the launch pad.

Viviennemary · 20/04/2023 21:31

I don't either. The pjotos are so fake looking and never been back after all those years. Didn't happen.

Tbh, 25% believing they were fake is in-line with polling.

What about the 5 times they did go back?

Hopefully there’s a link here to one of the Apollo 11 surface magazines (remember them) that gives some idea of the good, the bad and the ugly…I think the scatter in quality was inevitable given circumstances (time pressure, suit restrictions on mobility, gloves, lighting conditions etc etc).

So we're agreed - photography definitely has improved since 1969.

Jourdain11 · 20/04/2023 21:33

Yeah, people who don't question things obviously have no capacity for original thought!!

youboozeyoulose · 20/04/2023 21:36

I did believe in the landings but now I'm convinced it's a conspiracy. No way could mankind have achieved that with people as stupid as the the likes on this thread in its ranks.

katepilar · 20/04/2023 21:39

While I havent looked into it I think its possible its not true. I wouldnt be a bit surprised if it came out it was just a show.
I also believe Titanic wasnt actually Titanic but its sister ship Olympic /or whatever the name was/ that had been damaged and the two were swapped to get insurance claim or something like that. Read books on that more than 20 years ago and it made sense to me.

RoseslnTheHospital · 20/04/2023 21:43

@katepilar that Titanic claim is just, wow. You believe it, but you can't even remember the name of the other ship or exactly what happened??! Yet you're happy to believe that there was some kind of ship swap, and you're happy to promote this idea to other people?? Wow.

That Titanic one is probably even dumber than the moon landing conspiracy theory.

Claims the Titanic was secretly switched with a sister ship are unfounded

CLAIM: The Titanic did not sink. It was switched with one of its sister ships, the Olympic, before it set sail. AP’S ASSESSMENT: False.

Mrstwiddle · 20/04/2023 21:45

Yep

mainsfed · 20/04/2023 21:47

I kind of get what you mean, OP. It is somewhat incredible that there have been so many technical advances in the last few decades, and yet we have not been able to return to the moon since the 1960s!

But then I think if we can make it into the atmosphere then getting to the moon isn’‘t that much of a stretch.

That’s may layman’s view 🤣

RoseslnTheHospital · 20/04/2023 21:48

AliceOlive · 20/04/2023 21:45

Oh no, the government would never lie to us.

Of course they would. But it's not just one government, it's all of them in the US, USSR/Russia, China, the UK, Japan, anyone else with sufficient technology to be able to detect fakery. For decades. Without anyone at all being able to produce any actual evidence of fakery.

mainsfed · 20/04/2023 21:48
  • I’m glad Spacex is a failure, Elon Musk is a twat. Feed the world my arse, he’s pissing money up the wall.
RoseslnTheHospital · 20/04/2023 21:49

@mainsfed we have been able to, ever since it was achieved. We haven't lost the capacity or ability. We have lost the political will, the public interest, the scientific interest, the funding. Not the technological capability.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 20/04/2023 21:49

Definitely, none of leaders of those countries would lie to us.
