What's going on on Mumsnet at the moment? So so many dog threads every day. Is it one person that's got super pissed off with dogs and is using lots of different usernames to start new threads? What's going on?

I found the first few I saw last week quite interesting, but in the last hour alone I've seen more than 4 pop up on here.

What's with the dog threads? 🐶

Soooooooo many dogs. - exactly.

LowFlyingDucks · 20/04/2023 15:23

I suppose I haven’t really noticed such an uptick in dogs everywhere. I’d like to go to a cafe with loads of dogs.

kitsuneghost · 20/04/2023 15:25

Lockdown caused a huge spike in dog ownership and now the numbers have increased dramatically and due to lockdown they were not very well trained and non-dog lovers are just getting fed up with them.

I cant even go for a walk without coming across a dog nowadays

Oh another dog hating thread, does everyone love cyclists now?

Oh yes!! I haven't seen a cycle thread for a while so many they've just switched places :) good point!

I quite fancy becoming a dog sock puppet. Like Sooty and Sweep.

I post on these threads in solidarity, as many dog owners seem so outraged by the idea that it's possible to feel neutral or negative towards dogs. They seem to have some bizarre moral code in which Dog Lover equals Morally Good and Dog Agnostic equals Morally Dubious.

I don't hate dogs. But I don't want to own a dog, and it doesn't make me a sad, humourless person without a life or sense of joy because I don't want your dog jumping on me.

LadyMuckingabout · 20/04/2023 16:00

@kitsuneghost you never came across a dog on a walk before “nowadays” ? I don’t think I’ve ever, in my 50 years, ever been on a walk and not seen a dog, no matter how remote the area.

If I had a £1 for every time that fucking boring live is trotted out, I'd be well on my way to being very rich!

And as for nowadays...

Nothing is fucking right nowadays.

Not like when you had dogs wandering the streets alone!!

pookiedoodlepuppy · 20/04/2023 19:10

@nomoredriving Today no more dogs just wandering about on their own , so it really could be worse , but as a child I would make friends with wandering dogs ( never had my own until about 9) ( yes as a child I was out alone ) and would bring them home . Dog poo on the streets , chasing cars which is never a problem now .
My poor parents got so fed up of me bringing home my wandering friends they gave in and bought me my own friend who never wandered alone .

I think your parents are great!

Love the fact you brought home wandering friends........ wouldn't get that nowadays!

Growing up we had a jack Russel.
My mum used to let him out and he would go for a wander and then cone back.
It wasn't until years later when I was in the pub with some of the people I had grown up with and they all said that they had been chased by my parents dog!
Can't believe how we used to let dogs roam then.
(Though didn't hear of any horrible accidents etc?)

I love dogs and I would have given my right arm to be jumped up at by a golden retriever before I got my own dog.

Never happened. Not once. Despite daily 5km runs on a beach infested by off lead dogs.

Most of them barely glance at me.
Where do I need to live to get continued cuddles off dogs please?

Be careful what you wish for.
