Would you give away your pet for a million pounds?

Hypothetically.
If somebody knocked on my door right now and offered to re-home my cat for a million pounds, I just don't think I could do it. Even though that would be a completely life-changing amount of money for me. Could you?

Totally, please take her

summerpoolandsun · 19/04/2023 10:51

yup, he’s a little sweetie hamster but he’s not worth a million

IsAGirlMumma · 19/04/2023 10:53

Yes

Fireandflames666 · 19/04/2023 11:08

Absolutely not, pets are family.

xogossipgirlxo · 19/04/2023 11:10

No, I would cry my eyes out.

Tidsleytiddy · 19/04/2023 11:17

No! Although the money would be handy…🤔

Emotionalstorm · 19/04/2023 11:20

The thing is I would need a lot more than a million to retire. I need at least 22. It's not life changing money for me.

CoalCraft · 19/04/2023 11:22

I'd be very tempted. Think I'd feel bad either way honestly - if I took the money then every time I was reminded of the cat I'd feel guilty, but if I didn't then any time we couldn't afford something I'd feel guilty.

I think on balance I'd take the money.

MintyCedric · 19/04/2023 11:24

Not for £10 million…

Anskl · 19/04/2023 11:26

No, you'd have to pay me a million pounds to have a pet in the first place.

thaegumathteth · 19/04/2023 11:35

No . Wouldn't even consider it.

husband maybe

Qhaecciarr · 19/04/2023 11:35

No, I already tell them all the time they're irreplaceable and therefore technically infinitely valuable :)

MiniTheMinx · 19/04/2023 11:37

I would ask my two boys first. If they wanted 500k each and it set them up then probably yes.

Me, no. I'd rather have my dog.

Coffeetree · 19/04/2023 12:07

I'm so rubbish with these hypothetical situations. I'm just like, who is this person offering a million pounds for my chubby sweet little moggie? They're clearly up to no good, and they're stupid to boot. I'd just lead the person on, get the money, give them a pet carrier with a dummy inside, and by the time they figured out what happened, my cat and I would be in sunny Mexico.

Shropshirepie · 19/04/2023 12:14

HRTWT so apologies if it’s already been said.
For all you yes people, the famous Churchill joke..

Churchill: Madam, would you sleep with me for £1 million?
Woman: Why Winston, yes I would.
Churchill: What about £10?
Woman: What sort of woman do you think I am?
Churchill: We have already established what sort of woman you are, now we are just negotiating the price.

My cat is the spitting image of Ollie, even down to the fangs, and loves me just as fiercely as Ollie does @Maple2023 - ( he's not internet famous though.) I couldn't do it. Although he would probably recover from the betrayal, given time and tuna, I never would forgive myself.

Persephoned · 19/04/2023 12:21

Yes

ChocolateBeforeBed · 19/04/2023 12:24

Maybe! It depends who to! Someone lovely and caring with a large field and other dogs he could play with all day - probably yes!! He'd love it! And if I could visit him every week, well that would be great :)

Would I give him to a random I knew nothing about? Probably not.

Blimey :) can I be you!? 😆

maddy68 · 19/04/2023 14:19

I love my dog. But realistically if someone offered me a million (not that they because she's a dick) of course I would if it meant o could make my childrens lives better

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 19/04/2023 14:21

When we’ve had hamsters or Guinea pigs (the only pets we’ve had as a family) yes, I could and would do.

If I had a dog or a cat I expect I’d feel differently!

Dotjones · 19/04/2023 14:22

Yes no problem, pets are just property and can be replaced. You could sell your dog for a million and buy a newer one for a few hundred, low thousands max. Easy profit.

Thelnebriati · 19/04/2023 14:22

Can I cheat? I'd give him to DS.

LetsStartFromScratch · 19/04/2023 14:31

Yes and they could have my husband and my kids too 😀

ShakeYourFeathers · 19/04/2023 14:38

No
