To have nothing except work and sitting on the sofa?

I'm so bored. I literally go to work, come home, make tea then sit watching tv all night. I spend the most of the weekend cleaning and shopping

What can I do thats for me? My DP has football and the gym and I've got nothing. I'm not really good at anything, don't have any talents or passions but I really want one!

Please help me find something that's just for me that will make me feel like I'm alive for reasons other than working and cleaning, even just for a little while

i was in a similar situation, so I did a master’s degree. Then I was afraid of going back to a life of mind-numbing sloth, so I did another.

If you are more sedentary, then knitting is lovely. Now, my hobby, my passion, is reading. I also collect books that I want to re-read (some of them several times a year. There are something over 1200 books in my home. I print out bookplates of my own design on my computer's printer, I have a whole shelving system set up, and if the books are part of a series, each one gets a small, numbered tag on its spine. And if I collect more than one series by an author, that tag will have a letter or two to identify the series, such as my Jana DeLeon collection. The Miss Fortune series is tagged "MsF-1," etc. The Ghost in Law series is "GiL-1." LOL, I also buy book repair supplies to keep them all in one piece, if not in mint condition. None of my books are in mint condition...they are read, loved, hugged, and dragged around with me when I'm on errands that might require a wait! I'm so bad about this that I will not buy a handbag that a book will not tuck into!

I enjoy doing (although I don't do enough of them all):

Reading - I read loads, my goal is 52 books a year, I managed the year before last, didn't manage last year but on track this year.

Cross stitch - I haven't done much of this the last few years but I will pick up a project again, I've had a bit of passion for bunting since just before the jubilee so been getting my sewing machine out and making bunting when I want to get a bit creative.

Home exercise- I'm a member of an online local (although since covid and going online, its not just local anymore), exercise group. I do Zumba and other classes, sometimes live but usually do the saved classes on a morning.

I enjoy comedy (so does DH but he isn't as social as me) and we have a lovely local venue who puts on regular comedy nights so I've been going to one of them at least once every 2 months since last year. I either go with a friend or my DH.

Another thing we have done this year is decided to watch the top 100 films. We are doing it with my brother and SIL. We have a video call twice a week and synchronise hitting play and watch a film together and we then discuss it at the end. I got the idea from my boss who is doing the same with her DH. They are setting aside a Sunday to watch a film a week. We are all enjoying watching films we never would choose to watch.

Did you do anything with your degrees?

I've definitely upped my game in the cooking area (no more dolmeo) and I've made a conscious effort to take an interest in what I'm eating and I've spect hours researching recipes 😊😊

Maybe this is my new thing. Although I'll have to incorporate some exercise to counter act the eating my baked goods!!

My garden is going to get a lot of love this year too

Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions and I hope others have taken something from the thread too x

Hi, didn't read whole thread but suggesting you try meet-unp, it's not just for singles. Most have a walking groups section as well as social meets. Changed my life, got married, moved house twice and now FTM, because I got confidence from joining groups rather than finding a relationship there.

Ps never been a socialiser but it worked for me. Not all meet-up groups were for me, but found a few I liked.

Do you have a local Rock choir? Don't have to be an expert singer, no auditions and so much fun. Weekly rehearsals and the chance to go to lots of extras,.performances, supportinglocal events and charities etc. Has brought me so much joy

I’m an introvert so your lifestyle doesn’t seem that phasing to someone who enjoys and needs their own company. The last time I felt ‘lacking’ I bought a cat and got an allotment. Beyond that and loving a good whodunnit on TV, I do jigsaw puzzles, listen to music and go on holidays in our tourer caravan! It honestly doesn’t have to be something massive or you become wildly talented at to be deemed worthwhile. I hated the gym, can’t play an instrument or a sport and socialising can be torture but I’ll never be bored in my own company and there’s not a chance on my deathbed I’ll look back and think less of myself for that.

This is me😊
