Does anyone think about Covid anymore?

Feels like measures have sort of.. disappeared. Virtually no precautions whatsoever anywhere these days , not even light measures

My CEV mum doesn’t even mention it or bother with a mask anymore.

It’s like it’s gone away but obviously it has not.

Rarely think about Covid these days although have just been out with work mates talking about how strange Covid times were.

I'm CEV and so go to hospital for for IV medication every 4 weeks. I can't remember the last time the nurses wore masks (maybe a year ago?) but I'm more than happy that us patients don't have to wear them!

mumwon · 13/04/2023 22:50

We both had it for the first time a few weeks back - I am so glad we were vaccinated. We were both sick and exhausted for 2 weeks. We both lost our appetites completely. I booked dh booster ....
I really don't want to go through that again - and there is a new version starting to spread

AramintaLee · 13/04/2023 22:53

I definitely still think about it to a degree... I don't wear a mask, but still use antibac hand-wash whenever I go to the shops. I had a cold/sore throat all last week and I tested daily just to be on the safe side. It's certainly not left my mind completely but I don't let it rule my life either.

DrunkOnLove · 13/04/2023 22:53

I have to test before I see someone who is vulnerable, so yes, I still think about it. It’s still a risk to many unfortunately.

ghostyslovesheets · 13/04/2023 22:59

Yes - like others I have (about to be actually labelled after 3 years) Long Covid and there are days I am too tired to function - I don't run anymore, work out etc and I struggle to get out of bed before 10am - it's impacted on my work, social life etc and it's shit

I woke up today feeling wiped out, banging headache and odd taste in my mouth - first thing I did was a test - negative - I spent the weekend with my CV mother and would want to tell her if I had it.

cricketmam · 13/04/2023 23:00

Yes - all the drs that died . I remember them

TwinkleTwinkleLittleCat · 13/04/2023 23:02

Still wearing masks at work. NHS hospital ward.

mamabear715 · 13/04/2023 23:22

I'm so sorry for those of you who have lost loved ones, have LC, or worked in hospitals during the pandemic. How soon people forget, & it's back to being 'all about ME'.
I will definitely have another booster if offered.
God Bless you all.

lemonchiffonpie · 13/04/2023 23:34

Yes, thanks to MN, I am reminded almost every day of these last three plus years of the pandemic that the world is full of absolute twits.

KnickerlessParsons · 13/04/2023 23:50

I thought about it a lot 3 weeks ago when I was in bed, suffering from it

Sleepyandconfused · 13/04/2023 23:55

Not at all

Knockmealdowns · 14/04/2023 00:34

I had wicked sore throat last week, feeling tired, did a test and was Covid positive!

IsGoodIsDon · 14/04/2023 00:38

Yes as I’ve just had it over Easter

sleepwouldbenice · 14/04/2023 00:51

Only people not impacted by it don't think about it

I work in care so I do, still see the significant impact that's way more than " any other bug " a quote compounding obvious complacency and ignorance

Floored my parents and gave my friend a blood clot in the last 3 months

But hey ho

sleepwouldbenice · 14/04/2023 00:53

sst1234 · 13/04/2023 21:53

Most people have moved on as the Covid bus has rolled out of town. Even the shrill hysterical ones realize that we’re duped into complying with pointless and destructive restrictions.

Anyone still obsessing over Covid has mental health issues and need to get help to deal with that obsession.

So many clichés in one post! Full house!

SilverGlitterBaubles · 14/04/2023 06:15

I do not fear Covid, but I have not forgotten about it. How could anyone, the fallout is immense and it is impacting our society and economy in so many ways. I am sicked that our government used it as an opportunity to make themselves and their cronies richer with billions of taxpayer money funnelled into private contracts while our healthcare and education systems are failing apart. I am sad that so many young people missed out on crucial parts of their education. I am sad that many people became isolated and still suffer Covid related anxiety and are too fearful to return to pre Covid life. I think that we will be recovering from this pandemic for a long time to come.

flowagurl · 14/04/2023 06:35

It rarely crosses my mind :)

iamnottoofatiamjusttooshort · 14/04/2023 07:58

I'm a nurse in a high security prison , we recently had an outbreak and still test every new arrival , anyone symptomatic and our CEV if any concerns .

So at work yes , out of work - I've changed certain things I do - like a bit of space with my Tesco trolley , don't open any packets with my teeth anymore , wash new clothes or bedding prior to wearing and go through more anti bac wipes than before but other than that I don't think about it much

puttinoutfirewithactimel · 14/04/2023 08:01

Never think about it at all. I cannot actually remember the last time I had a conversation with anyone about it.

YomAsalYomBasal · 14/04/2023 08:02

Yes. One of our household is CEV. It's still very important here. Also we are still expected to test negative before attending some appointments etc.

hopsalong · 14/04/2023 08:31

No. The amount of collective thinking time devoted to this seasonal coronavirus, now behaving much like the other coronaviruses (the ones that cause bad colds) was batshit crazy and probably could have led to a cure for cancer if devoted there.

Sadly I am thinking and worrying a lot about cancer because I have two dear friends of my own age (early / mid 40s) now receiving palliative care after their originally quite treatable cancers were ignored and left undiagnosed in virtual appointments during the second lockdown.

stayathomegardener · 14/04/2023 08:40

@bellac11 you are deluded to compare a loss of smell to long Covid.
It's extremely hard to get over or forget about something so completely incapacitating.

I pretty much still shield, mask up and test but currently shielding in a camper van that we would never have purchased pre Covid so some positives.

helpfulperson · 14/04/2023 09:17

I think about it a bit. I don't think we are through the worst of it yet. I think in the years to come we will see the damage done to peoples immune systems as death rates from other illnesses go up due to people not being able to fight them off.. It is most certainly not 'just another bug'. I find the collective narrative on here of 'it was all exaggerated' so bizarre. What stopped this being another spanish flu situation was that we managed to get a vaccine fairly quickly due to modern technology but until we knew that was going to work it was on target to kill millions. And yes those people do matter even though they were older and/or disabled.

Akite · 14/04/2023 10:06

DH has just tested positive this morning so will have to stay away from his terminally ill father for a while so yes, still thinking about it a lot here!

TooOldForThisNonsense · 14/04/2023 10:37

Is the CEV designation still actually a thing? I thought that was specifically used in the period where there was shielding and no vaccine. My understanding was that whilst some people are still vulnerable, these are a lot, lot less in number than they were in 2020 due to the impact of vaccination. Not heard anyone describing anyone as CEV in real life for about 2 years now.
