Ok I'm only considering it as I'm really worried about money - with interest rates increasing, my ex's payments coming to an end and all other costs sky rocketing as well as ds and dd needing more, i'm going to have at least £1,500 less and I'm I'm going to start getting into debt.

I'm only thinking non- sexual escorting , companionship or a plus one for corporate function. I've seen adverts but don't know if people would really pay If it's not sex.

Does anyone have an experience? Failing that any suggestions?

I work full time, so anything else would have to be evenings.

You're being very naive OP. What do you do as a day job and how many hours a week do you work?

Mendholeai · 10/04/2023 15:09

The shame of your kids finding out what you do or their friends. There are lots of other lucrative jobs. I have two kids at uni and don’t get much help so I just work incredibly long hours and suck it up. In a reputable job.

This is escapism. It’s not real. The fact that you are not thinking realistically is a concern. What will you do when a man inevitably tries it on???

The best thing you can rationally do is either downsize, or find a more highly paid second income that doesn’t involve wrecking your health, reputation and relationship with your kids.

Escorts are basically just agency prostitutes, sex is expected and you won't get any bookings once it becomes clear you're not willing to do that. If you want to see the calibre of men who use escorts then have a look on the UK Punting website, it is chillingly eye-opening how they talk about the women they're renting.

No, escorts are not just agency prostitutes. Escorts can be independents or they can work for agencies, as can prostitutes. Some believe prostitutes have sex for money whereas escorts entertain. In truth, prostitutes, escorts, hookers, sex workers, courtesans, companions all have sex for money. Some work independently, some work for agencies, some both.

But yes, sex is expected.

@ShowUs Paying for sex is not illegal in the UK, although it is illegal in Northern Ireland

mauvish · 10/04/2023 15:18

A friend of mine had the same idea as you, OP. She rang one of the agencies who advertised the same sort of things that you've seen and asked outright about whether she would be expected to provide "other services" --- and was told pretty clearly that she couldn't expect clients if she didn't.

Aweebitpainful · 10/04/2023 15:28

I don't think this is the route for you OP.

GettingStuffed · 10/04/2023 15:33

You may be able to earn something as a companion. Perhaps sitting with someone with dementia or even just company for an elderly person. You'll probably need a dbs check though

BunnyRabbitSandwich · 10/04/2023 15:43

Your daughter would never expect you to sleep with strangers to pay for driving lessons.

Daffodilwoman · 10/04/2023 15:45

Your dd needs to pay for her own lessons.
The world of prostitution sounds grim.
Could you work in a bar on an evening?
I know of 2 people who do only fans. They seem to be making a good living. However, both are very young, not much older than your dd, very thin and were kind of forced into it. When I say that, one lost her job and her boyfriend suggested this route. He refused point blank to help her out financially. The other has a mother who unfortunately has a bad reputation. I’ll leave it at that.

intrestedvic · 10/04/2023 16:15

look on websites such as seeking agreements x

mommatoone · 10/04/2023 16:27

@idontknowifishould I dont know much about escorting, know a few girls who do it but not the ins and outs, so to speak!. But all these saying have you got model looks etc etc. Youve only got to look on adultwork to see the variety of women offering their services - and they are not all top class young models!. There have been threads on the 'Ask me anything' part of mumsnet from escorts providing an honest insight into this line of work. Maybe have a look there. Whatever you decide, i wish you all the best ,its a shit situation to find yourself in.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 10/04/2023 16:33

I think its a face saving measure, they pretend they aren't paying you for sex and you pretend you want to sleep with them because you find them attractive and pleasant company. But the only way you get a repeat gig is by putting out

TorchwoodWho · 10/04/2023 16:36

@idontknowifishould The sites you posted don't seem great. You just have to look at how badly written they are, riddled with grammatical errors, to be able to tell they aren't as high class as they'd like you to think.
I don't think a high end company would have a badly rendered header reading "earn an hour 85 pound" in their website...

If you do decide to go into escorting, you should do so only if you are prepared to offer sexual services as well, against a lot of competition.

EastAngle · 10/04/2023 17:03

Your child would likely be gutted if she found out that you went down that murky road for her to have driving lessons. Not an essential for a 17 year old! How would you feel if you found out that your mother had resorted to that? If your children are loved, fed and you have accommodation you don’t need to think about this.

nutbrownhare15 · 10/04/2023 17:47

I'd suggest doing this first OP. It takes a few hours but you could save £1000s per year. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/money-help/

I completely agree.

They feel better as they’re paying for your ‘company’ and are usually required to have an STI check.

You feel better because you’re not standing on a street bother doing it.

Prostitution is for people who have no choice because they are desperate and have no other talents.

You will be able to find much better work that you won’t need to lose your dignity over.
