Ok, admittedly I’m just here to rant.

at 8.30am this lovely Sunday morning my neighbours, who are normally fine, started playing the SAME SONG on repeat at a defeating volume. Woke the whole house up and you can hear it in every room.

AIBU to think this is completely f-ing unacceptable?!

p.s there are some pregnancy hormones at play here but…. Shhh

It's not clarity, it's an unnecessary repetition.

I'll bet you say "PIN number" and "ATM machine" as well.

You seem weirdly angry about something so trivial. Confused Are you always this stressed out, and angry, and upset, by tiny little issues like this?

Have you thought about an anger management course?

Everyone says PIN number. No one says ATM machine.

I don't say 'PIN number'. I say 'PIN'.

8am Sunday

You don't need to add the morning bit as well.

You don't need to add the 'as well'.

Exactly this. Some shops say 'enter your PIN,' but some do say pin number. On my vodafone voucher (where I add my PAYG £10 for the 30 days bundle of texts, calls, and data,) even THEY put PIN NUMBER... on the voucher.

Thing is, whilst PIN is an acronym for 'personal identification number,' it's also an actual word. So it can cause confusion (for some) if someone just asks for a 'pin.'

PIN NUMBER defines it. (As a pin number!) Rather than just a bloody pin!

And as you say, NO-ONE says ATM MACHINE. No need, as ATM isn't a fucking word, like pin is!!!

Honestly, how pedantic and petty and pathetic are some posters on this thread?! Confused

Whatt · 09/04/2023 12:09

I love repetition. People who police other people's threads are dickheads with nothing useful to add.

I bet they wake up in the night about that one time they were corrected and vow to never feel like that again.

You are not superior because you triple-check your thread and read the new updates to the dictionary.

Other people live in the moment; they type how they speak and don't need to check for grammar and punctuation before clicking post.

Liberate yourself and try it.

VintageBlossomHill · 09/04/2023 12:16

Have they got kids? My kids can be really annoying messing with Alexa. Thankfully nearest neighbour is about a mile away.

LOL! Grin

I am guessing that they don't say a THING to people in real life. Just sound off on message boards anonymously, trying to sound all masterful and clever and special, but are too cowardly to say anything in real life.

You don't need to add the morning bit as well.

You have already used 'add'. The 'as well' is therefore repetition and unnecessary. Please adopt your own principles in your writing.

Gymnopedie · 09/04/2023 12:28

^^ @hotdiggetydog You've created one of the most spectacular thread derailments I've seen. I do hope you feel better for it.

I say Speedbank instead of ATM (machine) as the bank cards in those days were either for the hole in the wall thingy or cheque guarantee card 😂 Huband says cashpoint, we all know what each other mean shrugs

OP - I don't blame you but out if curiosity you could always ask what the song was and then mention how loud it was! Maybe they didn't realise it was loud enough to wake you up.

"please enter your personal identification number number"

OK THEN.

As a matter of fact I don’t.

You’ll have to look elsewhere for your (Easter) bun fight.

I say cashpoint too! And DH does. ATM is more American I think.

Like you though, IDGAF what people say because I am not anal, and pedantic, and incredibly petty. Grin

For those of you asking what’s the song, we don’t know and it’s not in English but further detective work from DP reveals it’s a traditional gospel song. Normally lovely. Not this morning lol. At least I understand WHY now… and hopefully this is annual.

Does religious grounding suddenly make anti social behaviour more acceptable?

Bluetrews25 · 09/04/2023 12:43

Don't worry, OP, they will find out how thin the walls are in (several?, a few?) weeks when you bring baby home. Maybe best not to kick off too much unless you can cope with the retaliation?

Grin I think @hotdiggetydog needs a little lunchtime nap. Being overtired can make you crabby and pedantic and grumpy. 😂
