KSI Racial Slur

Having grown up in the 80s and 90s being a victim of this racial slur. I can’t believe how incensed and angry I am, I even tried to convince myself oh it was so long ago now. But I just can’t, I mean it’s almost reignited my anger and just helpless feeling when I used to get called this word. For all South Asians especially those who are from the time when it was used so openly to attack us.

KSI knew it would be offensive and he still said it. No excuse and a poor apology.

It’s struck pretty hard tbh. He’s so well known and he’s so influential. Perhaps to a generation of South Asians, younger than me that probably aren’t so aware of how much their parents/older siblings went through. We got good at just putting up with stuff and trying to ignore it.

still remember when my parents bought a business in a predominantly white area and the notes we got and dog poo left outside our door.

I agree, and for me it is worse because it wasn't a live stream.

Had it been it live it meant that one person used a racial slur in *one moment, however this was edited by other people and approved to be released. So multiple people thought that this was acceptable, so it isn't just KSI, it was endorsed and accepted by the whole team.

*this is not to diminish what was said, but it wasn't just one person that thought it was acceptable.

The fact the video was actually published is the most shocking part. Every person involved with the video should apologise in my opinion.

I agree, there was no need for that word to be used. It was worse that everyone in the video laughed rather than holding him to account.

But then I'm not surprised. Their whole channel is now about embarrassing, humiliating (mainly strangers often people that are just trying to do their jobs) and trying to be 'edgey' and controversial.

I agree with you; a very mealy mouthed apology. All about him and how he’s a flawed person but people put him on a pedestal. So we shouldn’t expect him not to use horrifically offensive racist language? Media outlets should refuse to work with him. Clearly can’t be trusted not to reveal his terrible views and personality.

I also agree with a PP: the fact this went through so many stages and was still published is shocking. So clearly a lot of people think this slur is ok/funny/no big deal.

OP I’m sorry for what you’ve experienced. It must be horrible to endure at any point in life but especially as a child.

An other celebrity would be cancelled. This man heavily influences the younger generation and this lame apology just seems to make it ok to do what you want as long as you say sorry. I don't understand this world, apologies are only ever given when caught and prison sentences which actually encourages more crime. There will be absolutely no consequences to him for using this language I'm sure.

The 9 letters are fine. It's the 4 letter one derived from it that are the problem.

(BTW, I'm 50 and I know who he is I'm down wiv the kids, me)

Yep, he's a moneymaker and a lout. Highly prized qualities. He does boxing, sells energy drinks and vodka. Role model for many young men, sadly

I’m 40s I knew of KSI because of the energy drink. But now I know him for other reasons.

It just makes it so much worse.

How would they have liked it if it was a panel of white people and the slur was the 'n' word?

And everyone in the video would just laugh, like its obviously so funny.
