Boys get to an age where they just do that. I remember my bro coming up to me and asking me to cut his hair off, then giggling all the way through saying 'mum's going to go spare'.

He really did have to have a buzz cut afterward too.

I would be gutted as well. DS is only 1 yr but dh and I have both agreed we want him to have longer hair...NOT long BUT a bit of length iykwim. Like others have said, its the way to go atm..! DS has lovely curls at the ends of his hair and is so cute...

You ds looks just as lovely though now. Trendy cut or what..!!

Ours friends both have ds and I swear they give 'em a number 1 (?) all over....

Zazette · 13/02/2008 21:46

my dad took my bro for a short back and sides when he was 2. 35 years later, my mum has still not got over it. she would weep with you!

eleusis · 13/02/2008 21:47

I like it short. Think he looks cool.

louii · 13/02/2008 21:47

He looks better with the shorter hair i think.

kid · 13/02/2008 21:49

I cried with hysterics when my kids cut their hair off a couple of years ago. I came straight on here and posted pics of it too!

DD had beautiful long blonde hair down to her bum. She cut one side up to her ear and the other side to her shoulder. Her fringe (which she didn't have) was cut to the hair root! That took ages to grow out.
DS also had long hair, he cut his so short, that even with a number 2 haircut you could still see where he cut it to the scalp.

If its any consolation, his hair will grow back just as lovely.

moljam · 13/02/2008 21:49

awwww- i understand your upset-id cry too.but he still looks adorable!

my ds1 asked for his hair to be cut off a little while ago so hairdreser chopped it off- he looks lovely but boo hoo my baby(hes 6)!

ds2 has lovely hair and i will keep scissors away!

moljam · 13/02/2008 21:51

just remembered dd cut her hair off at school she had long hair and chopped one side off to just above ear.

mazzystar · 13/02/2008 21:52

Do you know what - he's done a farking good job of it

I understand your pain though. I was equally distressed when DH decided to cut DS's lovely, long, fluffy baby hair off. With a pair of clippers. Set to Grade 3. .

Oh, and he didnt tell me he'd done it. He went off to work the next morning (I'd been working nights at the time), and I went in to DS and got the shock of my life.

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/02/2008 22:12

If you think your son looks scalped... I made a mistake with the clipper setting while doing ds2 on sat. At first I thought it was just looking v short because it had got so long. Thought I had the 2cm setting on but it was the 1cm and by the time I realised I had to carry on.....Poor little thug thing he looks like a convict

moljam · 13/02/2008 22:13

eleusis-thats ok!thought it looked odd!

snooks · 13/02/2008 22:14

ds1 (3.4) has lovely long(ish) hair that I 'trimmed' ie hacked too short last September. Sniff. Still waiting for it to return to its former glory.

My dad said "well you'll have to have it cut when he starts school". So, starting school aged 4 is like going into the army?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 13/02/2008 22:15

VVVQV lol - he looked like Phil Oakey before i took him to my hairdresser with 6" difference between one side and the other - the style is not his handiwork !

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/02/2008 22:16

LOL, you know, you could have kept up the pretence and I'd have been none the wiser
