Men pushing prams and pushchairs one handed?

Is it me or do they look incredibly foolish? It’s like they think pushing their child along is a woman’s job so they’re going to try and make it look as macho as possible by doing it with one hand. Every time I see it I feel like throwing something at their heads. Maybe I’ve got rage idk

Are you for real?

Nimbostratus100 · 01/04/2023 15:01

surely anyone can push a push chair one or two handed, whatever is most comfortable for them at that time - for lots of men the pram handles are quite low, so they would have to stoop to put both hands on

DorisFlies · 01/04/2023 15:01

Yes, I walk past a nursery on the way to work and noticed this trend. Very odd!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 01/04/2023 15:01

I push mine one handed so my steps counts.

ElsieWelsie · 01/04/2023 15:01

They're showing off how manoeuvreable their buggy is to impress all the other Dads with the high tech chassis engineering and one handed steering function.

saraclara · 01/04/2023 15:02

Jesus. Men can't do anything right here, can they?

MuffinToSeeHere · 01/04/2023 15:02

Shit I used to push mine one handed all the time I guess that makes me macho and worth inflicting violence upon... Hmm

What a fucking bonkers thing to get worked up about.

Weird thing to get worked up about. I have pushed a buggy with one hand and I'm female. Go figure Hmm

MrsR87 · 01/04/2023 15:04

I’m a woman and I usually push my pushchair one handed as I have my seven month in the buggy and my two year old walks at the side holding my hand. I wonder how foolish I look?!?

Curseofthenation · 01/04/2023 15:04

I push mine one handed too...it's a Vista and therefore pretty easy to use one handed as it steers well. I didn't realise I was being judged for it! Oh well...

midsomermurderess · 01/04/2023 15:05

Christ, can men do anything right?

PinkFizz1 · 01/04/2023 15:06

This is ridiculous 😂

I push mine one handed so my Fitbit registers my steps. I wouldn’t ever give someone pushing a pushchair one handed a second thought 😂

Redpriestandmozart · 01/04/2023 15:06

I always thought their strides were too long and didn't reach under the chassis.

Ponoka7 · 01/04/2023 15:07

As said it could be because many have to stoup if they use both hands. Men have greater upper body strength and hand grip, I don't see the issue tbh.

ShowOfHands · 01/04/2023 15:07

It's definitely a thing op.

DH and I have commented many a time that most men use only one hand on the pram, even when it's veering out of control. It's a very well rehearsed pose and strut. Definitely bog all to do with low handles.

boschbabe · 01/04/2023 15:07

Agree with you. I’ve noticed this. To me it’s as if they are trying to give the impression they aren’t connected with the pram. I think it’s very odd. My DH didn’t do this so can’t say it’s all men.

Reugny · 01/04/2023 15:08

I've seen parents of both sexes push buggies with one hand and two.

The one handers usually have a phone in their hand and are dumb walking.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 01/04/2023 15:09

Have you posted this before?

Yabu, I got a jogger pram specifically so I could push one handed.

Weird thing to get worked up about…

Yes it gives me that impression too. Like they don’t really want to do it.

I think it's worse when they nudge it along with their knee, looking around sheepishly in case any mates see them.

RichardHeed · 01/04/2023 15:13

How much time do you have to spend staring at other people and tallying up to even register such benign shit like this? Have you not got anything better to do?

I don’t think so. If I have I’ve forgotten!

I once asked my partner about that as he pushed both our kids prams with one hand most of the times. He said it was because his height made it difficult to use two hands. His back would be hunched & give him cramp because the handle was always so low on the prams. So now I know that’s probably why men use one hand to push a pram if I see it.

Brunilde · 01/04/2023 15:17

What a ridiculous thing to say. I push mine one handed because I can quite easily and it feels comfier? than 2 hands. What's your reasoning for women doing it?
