Who was PM during the best of times for you?

Me?

Blair. Brown, first bit of Cameron.

On paper I earn more money now but everything's tits up isn't it? From the economy to shit on beaches to being able to get access to the NHS when needed.

Blair/Brown for sure. I graduated just after Blair got in, then worked in TV in London, paying reasonable rent in a gorgeous area.

Then bought a lovely flat in Brighton for a decent price and low mortgage. Got married and had two children.

I was in a very high earning role in 2010 when the Conservatives got in and promptly shut down the government funded programme I'd been working on. Their presence was suddenly very palpable for me.

Blair. I remember the excitement of the time. New fresh thinking, improvements in health, housing, and education, proper attempts to make society a bit more fair, the Good Friday Agreement. It was a time of hope - some of it was even realised. We didn’t feel our politicians were corrupt and actively working against our best interests the way we do now.

I think there’s a bit of a MN age bias here… Personally, Cameron, but not because of his politics, just because I was very happy with DH and living in London etc etc. Tony Blair / Gordon Brown better suited my politics and I’d go back to them in a heartbeat.

Gordon brown. Personally, happy days at uni before various shit happened.

Politically, it seemed a much more hopeful time. Now everything is getting worse, and climate change is looking set to be disastrous.

Well my life's gone quite well since 2020 so Boris? But also good around 2010 so Cameron? Not relevant to the gov though, more having kids, good promotions etc 🤣
