I'm bed ridden currently and very bored, so rightmove is my latest hobby.

My ideal house that I'll hopefully be able to afford once I'm able to magic money out of my bum will be -

4 beds, 2 bathrooms & downstairs WC.
Massive kitchen/diner with island, ideally pink units with lots of glass so I can see into the lovely garden.
2 separate living rooms and a utility room and downstairs study.
It'll be very boho and naturey themed, with tons of pictures of the kiddos and family and friends.
Outside I'd like a summer house filled sensory toys and lights etc for my sen son.

Do you have any home dreams? If so, share with a very sick and bored person please!

I can't find my perfect farmhouse online. Not with enough land, anyway. :-(
Think something like My Yorkshire Farm. Miles from anywhere, lots of sheep shit etc, half a dozen border collies, wellies strewn outside, a couple of horses or ponies, bikes, a river or stream, but obviously speedy broadband for the kids or I wouldn't get them there.. I would LOVE it.

Floofyduffypuddy · 28/03/2023 21:22

At the moment something with cosy feel and heating and in summer something safe from sun with air con.

vestanesta · 28/03/2023 21:25

There is a house near me that looks pretty bloody perfect. Small hamlet with a handful of houses but good if narrow lanes in/out and within a couple of miles of a town with decent amenities. At the top of a hill.so amazing views. 30 mins into a city centre.

It's a converted barn. Lots of land around. Separate annex to park my mother. Linked with some glass tunnels so when I've tried to peer in like a nosey pervert it seems all open plan and high ceilings.

I'd like 4 beds, a kitchen diner, big utility, study/snug and a living room. Lovely big windows and lots of light. Luxurious en suite.

DdraigGoch · 28/03/2023 21:28

It would have to be a castle.

newtb · 28/03/2023 21:48

One I went to visit when someone was scamming me on old. Would've been perfect. Pool, terrace, nice location in Charente Maritime. 'Only' 266,000€ but above my budget.

googledidnthelp · 28/03/2023 22:19

Porch and large hall way
Large kitchen diner with a wood burner and big bi told doors.
Utility and wet room
Lounge with big bay window
Play room
Sunroom

Gallery landing
3/4 double bedrooms - 2 en-suite
Large family bathroom
Easy access and tidy loft

Double garage with family/games room above with guest room and bathroom.

Large garden fully enclosed and not over looked.

Within a few mins of a non touristy beach would be cherry on top

WiddlinDiddlin · 28/03/2023 22:56

Extensive, totally accessible bungalow (could be a dormer with a couple of guest bedrooms I guess)...

Enough rooms for me to have a workshop, art studio and office, plus living room, bedroom etc etc.

Outbuildings for when I think of more things I want to do - kiln, bigger woodworking stuff, storage.

A couple of acres of very well fenced land to train dogs, ideally with mud-proofed paths around each field.

Near water, I do like water.

On the rural outskirts of a small town/large village, which must have at least, GP's, pub, several shops.

Probably Devon...

Perfectlystill · 28/03/2023 23:11

I I love my house now - would just like to do it up a bit.

What I DON'T want:
Swimming pool
Anything on The Modern House website
Near a train line or noisy road
Thatch
Arts and Crafts

What I do like:
Location is no1 for me
Bright kitchen
Downstairs loo
Six bedrooms
En-suite bathroom to all bedrooms

Ohyoudodoyou · 28/03/2023 23:34

I love Kent so I'd pick somewhere there to retreat to... love the houses with sea views around St Margaret's Bay but this is a little bit spectacular!!!!

I've enjoyed seeing everyone's posts, really lovely properties all over the UK.

Thank you you found my perfect house. (Off to get euro millions ticket)

@neverknowinglyunreasonable - that did make me giggle - looked down the back of my sofa rather than my trousers and could not find the money for dream house.

But if I had the money - not huge not glamorous but this is what I would have bought ( NB this is the only thing I could find & it is not a mansion - it is a very modest cottage but in an expensive area ) - I'd love it but never in a million years

Mansion which Laurence Olivier bought with Vivien Leigh is on sale

Sir Laurence bought the four-bedroom property to share with his new lover in 1937, after they split from their respective partners following their secret affair.

I actually wouldn't change my home as I love my little cottage. I would do it up completely though and I'd put an 'observatory' type outbuilding at the top of our garden as the stars here are amazing and I'd love to see more of them. I'd also plant loads of new trees in the garden and create a larger flat section. If planning permission was given I might also convert the loft and have some sort of balcony.

stayathomer · 29/03/2023 05:37

Mine would just be nearer to my family (which is impossible as they’re all scattered!) I don’t know because we lived in town, and the shortcomings were totally knocked out by location! We live in a dream house very rurally now, so it’s a totally different life but I love it because it’s our house, we always rented before

TheMilkWhisperer · 29/03/2023 05:50

I love quirky features so

  • a Narnia room that you could access through a wardrobe
  • a turret room or octagonal attic room that would look over all the rooftops nearby
  • a lovely hallway/entrance hall with a feature stained glass window
  • a house with an entrance courtyard like you see in Spanish cities - hidden behind large garage doors
QuintanaRoo · 29/03/2023 06:50

An Earth ship house.

environmentally friendly, heat themselves pretty much, loads of light.

A small pretty cottage with a cosy fireplace and a garden with a river running past the back of it.

It needs a decor rethink, but if I like the little room on the roof. I walk past the building most days and it's fabulous Smile

Yes. This one. Omg I am completely in love with that!

MooseBreath · 29/03/2023 08:34

Four double bedrooms all on one level, 1 full bathroom upstairs and 1 WC downstairs. Large kitchen/diner with loads of usable cupboard space. Big living room and an insulated conservatory to be used as a playroom. Utility room/mud room with a washer and dryer. Entrance hall with storage for coats and shoes. Out building with a home office. Garage and space for off-street parking. Decent sized low-maintenance garden. All in need of an update so I can fix it up exactly to my tastes!

Lwrenagain · 29/03/2023 09:32

Cupboard space for me is so much more exciting than a sauna or home gym.
I'm so old. 😂🙈

I'll have one of these too. Possibly not pink units. I'll add a soundproof music room for DP and DCs, a quiet reading, crafts and plants room for me.

A mini orchard and pond and stream needed in garden. Views and no neighbours to overlook or make noise, but a friendly local community.

This has been my dream house ever since we moved here and now it's up for sale! I often pass it when walking the dog to the park.
The woodland garden is amazing, the photos don't do it justice. House is right in the centre of town but very secluded and private.
Sadly too expensive for us but if we get the million on premium bonds this month will definitely go for it.
