I'm bed ridden currently and very bored, so rightmove is my latest hobby.

My ideal house that I'll hopefully be able to afford once I'm able to magic money out of my bum will be -

4 beds, 2 bathrooms & downstairs WC.
Massive kitchen/diner with island, ideally pink units with lots of glass so I can see into the lovely garden.
2 separate living rooms and a utility room and downstairs study.
It'll be very boho and naturey themed, with tons of pictures of the kiddos and family and friends.
Outside I'd like a summer house filled sensory toys and lights etc for my sen son.

Do you have any home dreams? If so, share with a very sick and bored person please!

Mine would have fewer bedrooms, but large rooms.
Proper utility
Kitchen with everything integrated and big cupboards to hide stuff away.
No clutter anywhere
Gym

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 28/03/2023 12:09

I hate to ruin this daydreaming but if the money you use is magicked out of your bum then it would take a very long time to get enough for a dream house plus I think there would be some questions to answer about money laundering and where the funds came from.

Also hygiene.

4 bed by the beach in a quiet part of the UK.
Large private garden.
can walk to the beach. No fairgrounds or arcades close by.

Vibrant and friendly local pub with excellent food.

Aldi nearby. (I like Aldi)

This one for sure. I'd need the money for staff to keep up to it though.

I wouldn't like to live there
No community and you cant walk into town

Much nicer houses on the Duchy with a pub nearby!

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 28/03/2023 12:14

A cosy cottage with low ceilings, small windows, exposed beams and brickwork, and a quirky layout including a galleried landing. Small, manageable outside space facing west. Three bedrooms, one ensuite, two receptions, a kitchen diner, utility, downstairs loo and a conservatory. Lots of odd spaces in passageways where you could put a desk or bookshelf. Must have a decent shop and railway station within walking distance.

Well that's just feckin cheating! 🤣🤣

Well not really - I would have a flat in London for trips/short breaks there but I wouldn't want to live in London. I'd do the same for Edinburgh and probably some other world cities. Then a stately pile in the middle of nowhere and a beach house in California - that's just for starters.

gogohmm · 28/03/2023 12:18

Good sized master suite with bath, shower and dressing room, 3 extra double bedrooms plus office space. Large open plan kitchen diner plus utility room, good sized living room (could be open plan to dining) plus a snug fog us to watch tv in. Double or triple garage, 1/4 acre.

I had this, sold when I divorced. Except I want to be walking distance from a town centre and good lively pub scene, countryside and beach. In other words my old house where my new house is!

SallyWD · 28/03/2023 12:23

I love our house but my dream house would be a large, old cottage on the outskirts of a pretty village, close to the sea. The cottage would be surrounded by meadows or woodland. I'd have a big garden full of flowers, maybe a stream running through it. It would be quiet, peaceful and cosy. The village would have a strong sense of community with a little pub, nice cafe and village shop.

flutterbyebaby · 28/03/2023 12:25

The back of beyond with no neighbours, great WiFi

gannett · 28/03/2023 12:29

Pretty much the three-bedroom maisonette with small garden that we live in, except detached. I have no interest in maintaining a larger property and this is the ideal amount of space for DP and I.

Like a PP if money was no object I would want to have multiple small properties, not one big "dream" one - small boltholes in my favourite places around the world. Naples, Berlin, Marseille, Toronto, NYC, a few other places. (Also if ethics were no object!)

I fell utterly in love with this a while back. I don't need 5 bedrooms but I don't care because I love it! www.simpsonmarwick.com/property/ladys-field-eh42-1xs-P197877-22/

Absolute perfection! My dream house.

slowquickstep · 28/03/2023 12:36

The one i have now, small cozy and next to the sea. perfect.

Autienotnautie · 28/03/2023 12:49

It would be a five bed with double garage. Spacious cosy living room , a dining room, kitchen/diner. A conservatory on the back. A utility room, 5 double beds and three bathroom oh and a library/snug. Large garden mix of grass, flowers and a patio. It would be in a lovely village where everyone knows everyone and the local shop and pub are the hub of the community. Beautiful walks off my doorstep and not far from the sea. And a reasonable drive into the nearest town. And within my budget.

Autienotnautie · 28/03/2023 12:51

Oh and a circular staircase.

Beezknees · 28/03/2023 12:55

A beautiful modern penthouse apartment in central London with ensuite and walk in wardrobe.

I don't like old buildings, beams or anything with "character", it just looks scruffy to me! I've lived in a new build apartment for 14 years so I'm used to it and I like it. Just something a bit bigger in a location that I love would be nice. 2 bedrooms will do.

takealettermsjones · 28/03/2023 12:56

Five bedrooms, at least two ensuite. One of the 'spare' rooms will be my office/hobby room. The other will be a guest room. Family bathroom with separate shower cubicle.

Living room, separate kitchen (no open plan for me thanks 😆), separate dining room, plus an extra 'fun' living space/playroom. Kitchen must have double oven and one of those enormous fridges. And probably a boiling water tap.

Gardens to at least two sides. Back garden has patio area then lawn, then a secret garden-style area at the back, with seats and fire pit. Double garage.

Oh and it's detached and gated (no neighbours' dogs running onto my property for me thanks)!

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 28/03/2023 12:58

INTEGRATED STORAGE.

In addition:
some stables with a nice ménage
a well enclosed woodland for the dogs
wine cellar
6 bedrooms with en suites
i’d like the main bedroom to have a Jack and Jill style huge shower in the middle of our two separate en suites. Also in the main bedroom a huge roll top bath with great views and a nice mixer tap.
a navy blue kitchen with a new big island. Id like a (Belfast) sink both in the island and on the kitchen units.
a dedicated laundry room where we’d all have individual baskets for clean laundry and something about the new house would inspire my partner and the children to at least put their own washing away.
I’d have a snug (just for me where I might invite my partner occasionally) with nice books, armchairs and a log burner. My snug would also have a small wine fridge. I would spend winter in here. The dogs would be allowed entry.
We’d have a main family room with a massive inglenook fireplace and wood stacked up to the top.
We’d have a double car port.

We’d be on the cuff of a village with a good pub and a nice village shop. Ideally a bus service for the children.

I think £3/4 million should do it.

reaty · 28/03/2023 12:58

I want a detached house with a woodland and a brook for my kids to play

Lwrenagain · 28/03/2023 12:58

In loving the houses linked!

If I could live anywhere I'd choose North Wales I think, close enough to Chester and Liverpool, but surrounded by sea and nature

DH and I discuss this at LENGTH. I honestly think I would have to hire an architect and design my own home. The issue I have when I look at the nicer houses is:

I dont want a house with a million rooms. I dont need three reception rooms etc.

I dont need a house with shitloads of outbuildings/annexes.

I dont want water on the land e.g lakes, ponds, pools.

I dont want to be middle of nowhere as I like to know there are people nearby if I need help, but far enough away that no one could hear me blare music if I wanted to. Slightly tucked away out of side from the road would be nice.

A big cottage style kitchen with east facing windows to get the morning sun, with a fireplace and sofa.

Something somewhere like North Devon with views of the coast.

VaguelyFamiliar · 28/03/2023 13:08

If I won the lottery, I'd like two houses nextdoor to one another, with an adjoining door. One for DP and his DC, one for my DC and me. My house would have five bedrooms, three bathrooms, downstairs loo, big kitchen/family room, separate living room and dining room, utility room, home office and big garden.

Oh and a driveway. I would love to be able to park off the road.
