I'm bed ridden currently and very bored, so rightmove is my latest hobby.

My ideal house that I'll hopefully be able to afford once I'm able to magic money out of my bum will be -

4 beds, 2 bathrooms & downstairs WC.
Massive kitchen/diner with island, ideally pink units with lots of glass so I can see into the lovely garden.
2 separate living rooms and a utility room and downstairs study.
It'll be very boho and naturey themed, with tons of pictures of the kiddos and family and friends.
Outside I'd like a summer house filled sensory toys and lights etc for my sen son.

Do you have any home dreams? If so, share with a very sick and bored person please!

A self cleaning house😁that could be teleported around the country so I could transplant it near my children and grandchildren.

I actually live in my dream home - it's big, stone-built, has a huge garden... It's lovely.

But I loathe housework! Used to have a cleaner when the kids were little - I really don't have an excuse not to do it myself now, LOL.

@TulipsLilacs Love that vicarage 🤩

Absolute perfection! My dream house.

So weird isn’t it. I can see it’s a fabulous house but it leaves me cold yet I get why people would love it

AndrexPuppy · 28/03/2023 14:41

House

Pre-War
Large kitchen with space for good sized breakfast table
Separate dining room with space for my (actual) 3.8m long table
Good sized utility/boot room for dog stuff
Downstairs loo
Dressing room & private bathroom for main bedroom
Guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom

  • 1 or 2 other bedrooms
  • 1 ‘family’ bathroom

Outside

Double garage + carport area with loft space above converted into gym

Annexe #1 - (1 bed, single storey) for dependent child

Annexe #2 (1 bed, single storey) for dependent parent

Around 3 acres of flat ish land with views. House in the centre of the land, or near as possible. Safe dog walking nearby and safe for my cats. Long, safely gated drive between the house and road.

No railway lines, motorways, dual carriageways, flight paths, holiday parks or other noisy things nearby. Happy to be on the edge of a good village or more rural.

Mine would be...

Stone built "modern farmhouse", very attractive but not old. I love period properties but the thought of maintaining would cause me anxiety.

In the country, with lots of space all the way around it and no visible neighbours. A few big trees would be lovely.

4 large bedrooms upstairs and a nicely proportioned layout downstairs. A home office / study room would be nice. Between 1600-2000 square ft, definitely no bigger.

Rustic, cosy and homely inside. A real fire and lots of natural materials, like a stone floor in the kitchen.

Unfortunately I would only ever want to live within 10 miles of my current home, and the property I've just described would be about £800k at least. It may have to remain a dream!

Baneofmyexistence · 28/03/2023 15:46

I’d want at least a 5 bed detached, utility room/boot room with it’s own entrance, large garden, garage or outbuildings, and sea views. Older house with well restored features and little work to do.

Lwrenagain · 28/03/2023 15:50

Some of these houses are amazing and thank you for indulging me!

I actually found my dream house, area I wanted, needed work but nothing too massive, for 260k, however I'm not in a position to move yet, so maybe in the next few years I'll be able!

And those of you who live in your dream homes already, I love knowing that!

I love my home very much, but I have a really noisy child (asd) and I'm honestly just grateful my neighbours are as understanding as they are 🙈

Id have a modest three bed Georgian terrace overlooking a square in Chelsea which has a separate flat downstairs which did not have the garden. I'd even go with two 2 bed flats in the same terrace as long as the upstairs had a roof terrace. My daughter could have the flat and me the house. If she has a family we could swap.

@TulipsLilacs Love that vicarage 🤩

It's lovely. I posted earlier that the house and garden that inspired Tom's Midnight Garden is my dream house, but actually if I imagine my dream house its an L shaped Victorian vicarage and that came up when I googled. Maybe the Victorian vicarage with the garden from Toms Midnight Garden!

Whoopsmahoot · 28/03/2023 16:21

Dining kitchen, dining room, utility room, couple en-suite bedrooms, 2 more bedrooms, a games room with pool table big tv etc, fitness room, room for the rabbits, office, walk in wardrobes and plenty bath rooms. Double garage. That’s about it. 🤣

doingitforyorkshire · 28/03/2023 16:28

I'm currently watching a Caroline Quentin programme, she's looking at this lush house in Norway, with views of the fjords, It's just lush. Not much more to say really, too busy dreaming of living there ......

Here is one for me - I love Brighton and particularly that part. Would love to move there
5 bedroom semi-detached house for sale in Preston Road, Brighton, BN1 (rightmove.co.uk)

It’s amazing. That’ll do 🤣

AdaColeman · 28/03/2023 17:03

Oh if money were no object, I'd have an Edwin Lutyens designed (Arts and Crafts) house somewhere in Surrey, with a garden by Gertrude Jekyll. Somewhere like Munstead Wood, all mellow brick, and with the garden overflowing with lavender.

Or second choice would be a Frank Lloyd Wright house, maybe Taliesin, but moved to the coast of Northumberland.

countrygirl99 · 28/03/2023 17:08

Not so fussed about the house itself as long as the rooms are neither pokey or open plan but it must have 4 stables, at 10-15 acres of well draining paddocks, an indoor arena and access to amazing bridleways.

Blossomtoes · 28/03/2023 17:15

That’s an absolute stunner.

Whammyyammy · 28/03/2023 17:17

Windsor castle. Beautiful, secure, plenty of space and close to the airport.

MeanderingGently · 28/03/2023 17:23

Whammyyammy : really, not Windsor Castle! Full of tourists, heaving with guards marching everywhere, and not so secure....there have been at least two instances of nutters climbing the walls and getting into private areas.

But that's not the worst; it's the airport. Heathrow flies overhead, every bloody 90 seconds, from 4am until midnight. Hell of a noise all the time!

BelleSauvage9 · 28/03/2023 17:25

4/5 bedrooms, 2 with en suites so dd1 (11) would be able to have her own bathroom as a teen (and we would also have our own). Dd1s room also being either a loft room or downstairs so she's got her own space away from the rest of us (have dd2 who is 1 and pregnant with dc3 so she's much older than the other kids in the house and I want her to be able to escape the chaos!). Open plan kitchen/dining/living area. Bifold glass doors to garden all across one wall. Nice decent sized garden with plenty of grass and plants as well as a nice patio for seating. Utility room. Would love a balcony off of our bedroom. Good sized work shed for dp. But wouldn't want the house itself to be TOO big as I find big empty houses very creepy 😂 and would want neighbours nearby (but not sharing any walls) as I also find living in the middle of nowhere very creepy!

twolilacs · 28/03/2023 17:33

I shall give you a list:

Lovely period detached house in the countryside but only a few minutes' walk to the village shop/pub/station.
At least 4 bedrooms
Picturesque views
A scullery/boot room
A walk-in pantry
A big conservatory, a proper one - plants for the use of
A soundproofed music room - DH and chums for the use of
A dance studio fully equipped with sprung floor, mirrors, barre, piano etc
A massive country kitchen with a range cooker and a big oak table
Many lovely log fires
A morning room leading out onto the terrace. Did I mention a terrace?
A posh dining room
A large hallway with an attractive staircase and loads of room for a huge xmas tree
Many useful and pleasing to look at outbuildings
Chickens
A polytunnel

That's about it. Oh yes, and staff. Definitely staff.

Ye Gods, this is starting to sound like a setting for a Jilly Cooper novel isn't it?!
