Waters broke 14 weeks is there any hope?

I think my waters broke and I'm only 14 weeks along, i was stood in the kitchen and all of a sudden there was a load of bloody liquid like wee but I wasn't weeing. Maternity unit wouldn't see me because I was less than 18 weeks and EPU is shut so they told me to ring 111 who said go to A&E so now I'm sat in A&E.

There is no hope for the baby though right? :( I have had 3 miscarriages and when this one got to 12 weeks and everything looked OK I stupidly began to relax.

My mother’s waters broke at 20 weeks, and my sister (now in her 30s) was born at 32 weeks. So there is hope. I wish you all the best.

My waters went at 23 weeks and I delivered 5 days later. I heard of several stories ( while in the hospital ) of waters replenishing after breaking early in the pregnancy.
Ask them to check for an infection and start you on antibiotics asap.

Hope everything will be ok! X

I’m so sorry, it may not have been your waters. Do you know if you have a low lying placenta?

i had something similar with a hematoma. It would gush out, sometimes pale pink and sometimes bloody. I had a low lying placenta which seemed to be the cause and most of the cases women just need to rest and carry the baby full term, Unfortunately for me that was not the case (lost my son at 18 weeks) but I really hope your baby is ok and you go to full term.

This hits close to home so please let us know how you get on.

Please don’t lose hope, I’m sending big hugs your way❤️ when I was induced early there was a few ladies on my ward who had been kept in, one was 17weeks and also had waters break early and her twins held in there until around 25wks (I stayed in touch) both healthy now, a woman in bed across from me also had waters to early, these women were kept in so the doctors could keep an eye on them.

from what I was told by them ladies if waters break early they do try to keep baby in as long as they can so long as it’s safe to do so, the woman with twins was in hospital for around 2 months, her babies are healthy now! She had more regular scans whilst in hospital.

there’s always hope, thinking of you and little one💕xx

My waters also went early, although I’m not sure exactly when as they trickled, hospitalised bed rest from 30 weeks, delivered at 36 (he has just been keeping our babysitter busy for 3 hours!)

Waters trickled constantly in that time (like a heavy period flood) but when they did my section they were surprised to find I still had a huge volume of waters. Good luck op, there are a lot of variables in play and I so, so hope for a good outcome for you.

Cativy · 26/03/2023 22:38

Really hope everything is ok
