Waters broke 14 weeks is there any hope?

I think my waters broke and I'm only 14 weeks along, i was stood in the kitchen and all of a sudden there was a load of bloody liquid like wee but I wasn't weeing. Maternity unit wouldn't see me because I was less than 18 weeks and EPU is shut so they told me to ring 111 who said go to A&E so now I'm sat in A&E.

There is no hope for the baby though right? :( I have had 3 miscarriages and when this one got to 12 weeks and everything looked OK I stupidly began to relax.

Thinking of you and hoping you are not kept waiting too long xx

I had a massive haemorrhage at 14 weeks and was blue lighted into hospital. I was told there was no hope and I needed to take it easy while I miscarried over the next few days.

That baby is now 12 and towers over me, with massive stinky feet.

Don't lose hope OP. I am thinking of you.

Unicorndreams24 · 26/03/2023 21:07

My friends baby was born weighing just over 1lb and although it was touch and go for a long time he is now a strapping 14 year old.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Whats meant to be will be.

Good luck OP 💐

No need to respond if it's too personal a question, but was your local hospital Frimley? It fits in with a pattern of other stories that I've heard (although I recognise that it's all anecdata...). Royal Surrey have a very good reputation and are rated outstanding by the CQC (although, I've just had a quick Google and it appears that Frimley is also rated outstanding)!

No, I was at Bedford hospital. I was mid-moving house and so I’d booked into RSCH to give birth. I phoned their maternity line and they urged me to go to Bedford because it was closer and they wanted me seen urgently. We said we didn’t want to go there because every time we’ve used that hospital, the treatment has been horrendous and the A&E is basically a locked gate to the rest of the hospital. The midwife at RSCH phoned Bedford maternity and they said I could go to the maternity unit and be seen straight away. But, when we got there ten minutes later, they said I should go to A&E and refused to see me, A&E took two hours to triage me. They did a covid swab, took my temperature, blood pressure and pulse. The triage nurse then said my pregnancy wasn’t viable (they didn’t do any examination at all) and to go back to the waiting room. I asked how long it would be and they said they couldn’t refer me to the maternity department because I was only 17 weeks so I could only see an A&E doctor and it’d be at least 6 hours. We left and drove to RSCH instead - within that six hour period, we’d got to the hospital, been seen and been sorted completely with a plan. A major reason we moved is because the healthcare where we lived was so awful that we thought it would probably kill one of our family eventually - no regrets since moving, the healthcare in Surrey is unbelievably good. I don’t think people realise how much disparity there is between good healthcare and bad healthcare depending on where you live. If I were in need of medical help near Bedford hospital, I would beg to be taken anywhere else.

A friend of mine has 3 kids and with every single one of her children her waters broke very early on in the pregnancy, but she still carried the kids to nearly full term. I didn't realise this was possible but she told me that's just what her body did with all her babies
