Waters broke 14 weeks is there any hope?

I think my waters broke and I'm only 14 weeks along, i was stood in the kitchen and all of a sudden there was a load of bloody liquid like wee but I wasn't weeing. Maternity unit wouldn't see me because I was less than 18 weeks and EPU is shut so they told me to ring 111 who said go to A&E so now I'm sat in A&E.

There is no hope for the baby though right? :( I have had 3 miscarriages and when this one got to 12 weeks and everything looked OK I stupidly began to relax.

Hello everyone

I have had my scan, baby is fine!! Which is obviously great news but I think I am just in shock I honestly thought there was no hope.

I have been admitted to the EPU for monitoring and they think what happened yesterday was just a water leak rather than losing everything and they can't really explain why and that the bleeding this morning was just because of them swabbing my cervix yesterday.

Thank you so much to everyone on here and fingers crossed everything stays OK

So pleased to hear all is ok. My daughter is in early stages of pregnancy, it’s such a worry.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/03/2023 19:20

Very happy for you, OP - make sure you push for the results of the swab to make sure they've tested for Group B strep, as ascending infection can cause these sort of events and you can be given suitable antibiotics during pregnancy if this is the case. Your GP might help ensure that the result isn't accidentally overlooked as well.

I’m so pleased to read your update. A similar thing happened to me at 18 weeks, and after the baby was scanned and found to be ok, I was sent home with advice to put my feet above my heart as they suspected a leak in the sac and they didn’t want more pressure on the sac, drink lots of fluids, and no stress. Good luck OP!

Spinninggyro · 27/03/2023 19:40
