Waters broke 14 weeks is there any hope?

I think my waters broke and I'm only 14 weeks along, i was stood in the kitchen and all of a sudden there was a load of bloody liquid like wee but I wasn't weeing. Maternity unit wouldn't see me because I was less than 18 weeks and EPU is shut so they told me to ring 111 who said go to A&E so now I'm sat in A&E.

There is no hope for the baby though right? :( I have had 3 miscarriages and when this one got to 12 weeks and everything looked OK I stupidly began to relax.

Hello everyone

I have had my scan, baby is fine!! Which is obviously great news but I think I am just in shock I honestly thought there was no hope.

I have been admitted to the EPU for monitoring and they think what happened yesterday was just a water leak rather than losing everything and they can't really explain why and that the bleeding this morning was just because of them swabbing my cervix yesterday.

Thank you so much to everyone on here and fingers crossed everything stays OK

What wonderful news. Good luck, I'll be wishing the best for your baby. Hoping this is the last shock for you.

I had something similar was in the kitchen happy after a scan then I just had a gush pinky watery like and it ran down my legs this was at 10 weeks and I was adamant I'd lost her , bleeding stopped and then bright red then stopping and starting. Re Scan was perfect but because we were High risk ( multiple losses ) I got progesterone capsules. She came healthy at 35 weeks ! Lots of postive vibes for you <3

Just wanted to message a little advice, I had similar experience at a later gestation. I just wondered whether the hospital thought your membranes had ruptured or not? I had repeated hospital attendances, heartbeat found. There is very little hospital can do before viability (24 weeks). However in USA in similar circumstances they advise bedrest, no baths/swimming, no sex, prophylactic antibiotics, all to avoid infection.

In UK I was just told to get on with it as nothing makes a difference. So I did. Despite baby being alive when waters broke, a couple weeks later I had chorioamnionitis, sepsis, baby died. I'll never know if the baby would've survived if id been in USA. So can I advise you, if your waters have broken, follow the US protocol if you are at all able.

Castlereagh · 27/03/2023 18:34

To be absolutely clear when I first presented a hospital I was swabbed and there was no infection of any kind and the baby was alive.
I'm not trying to scare you, and it.may be different earlier on, but make sure the hospital have a plan for what happens next
