To not feel able to cook in my kitchen because it’s dirty

My DH did the kitchen yesterday after dinner and this is what I find when I go to make my own breakfast and my kids’ lunches. I don’t feel that I can prepare food without cleaning up the kitchen first but I have to get my kids to school and get to a meeting at 9 a.m. while my DH has already gone out to work.

So, AIBU for feeling that I can’t cook in this kitchen without having to clean it first?

I am amazed at how much time OP has managed to dedicate to this thread this morning, whilst simultaneously cleaning, scrubbing, bleaching, taking the children to school, getting to a 9am meeting and presumably still being at work afterwards? Or was it just the one meeting that only lasted 30 minutes?

Wipe tops down and make yoir food

YANBU I never start dinner in a messy kitchen, I have to have the worktops clean and no dishes in the sink.
If there isn't too much mess ie a few crumbs then I will wipe it down but if DH or the kids have left an almighty pile of dirty pots and pans then I won't do it.

I’m getting this a lot with my DCs now they are teenagers. My DH is relatively tidy. It really gets to me and the teens are gradually improving. But I hate having to clean before I start cooking and sympathise with the OP fully. Coming home from work to find crumbs and messy plates and blocked sinks is irritating.

"Your kitchen is dirty but that's more than one meals worth of dirt."

Oh, I suspect you immediately let your husband know about the extra 6 minutes he added to your day.

Why would it piss off anyone on here? I think you slightly overestimate your own importance, op!

6 whole minutes out of your very important day. And the same length of time or more posting about it 🤣🤣🤣
