Is it okay for an 8 year old? I'm thinking a massive no but dh actually thinks it's alright... because we apparently used to watch way worse.

So who's being unreasonable here me or dh?

No it's definitely not suitable for an 8 year old.

FrangipaniBlue · 23/03/2023 19:12

Definitely not and I was quite liberal about what key DS watch!

It's an 18 and Common Sense Media recommends 14+

Directionally · 23/03/2023 19:12

I wouldn’t let an eight-year-old watch it. But people were letting eight year olds, watch squid game, so there will be people out there who agree with your husband!

FrodisCapering · 23/03/2023 19:12

No way would I allow mine to watch this at 8.

In my day (prehistoric times) our parents didn't monitor anything and me and my friends watched some horrific stuff which actually affected me quite deeply Just because I've turned out ok doesn't mean I would inflict it on my kids.

Suzi888 · 23/03/2023 19:13

Erm no! It’s a 15 isn’t it?

Is your DH ok taking your child to the toilet, leaving the lights on and getting up in the night to check on screaming child?

mushforbrain · 23/03/2023 19:13

Jeez no way. Worrying you would even consider an 18 film for an 8 year old?!

Emmamoo89 · 23/03/2023 19:14

Fuck no

Emmamoo89 · 23/03/2023 19:15

This has to be a troll

EmilyGilmoresSass · 23/03/2023 19:15

I recall watching what I think was the third one... the one where the guy takes a camera on a roller coaster. The night before going to a theme park. I was a reasonable teenage age but it shook me rightly.

I was never restricted in youth in what I watched but I'm the opposite with my own. It can have real effects.

TidyDancer · 23/03/2023 19:15

Goodness no, it's in no way suitable! Has your DH forgotten the plot?

Wotwotwotwotwot · 23/03/2023 19:15

Definitely not 😮 7/8 ish is the age they start to really worry about death IME. Chucking in a viewing of Final Destination just to really freak them out seems like an odd parenting choice

I promise I'm not a troll. I'm actually gobsmacked he thinks this is okay, I thought he was winding me up first of all

iusedtobeasize8 · 23/03/2023 19:18

No. It's a pretty gory film. Not suitable at all.

Shopper727 · 23/03/2023 19:20

Not a chance, we had it on recently and my 11 nearly 12 year old came down to speak to us and asked me to pause it as it’s a bit gruesome so I’d say youngest is allow is 14/15 and I’m not strict about these things really.

Oysterbabe · 23/03/2023 19:21

My children would never sleep again.

Irisheyesareshining · 23/03/2023 19:21

No!! My ex father in law let my daughter about the same age at the time watch Alien !! I had two years if nightmares and upset after it .

Eranzer · 23/03/2023 19:23

I'm liberal as fuck... I would get slaughtered on here for what I let my eldest two watch.

But no, I wouldn't let them watch Final Destination yet, it shits me up and gives me paranoia as an adult!!

alyceflowers · 23/03/2023 19:25

I'm still pretty traumatised from watching Final Destination as an adult!

Bearthepooh · 23/03/2023 19:27

No chance, it still traumatises me now and I swear it's the cause of most of my anxiety!

C1N1C · 23/03/2023 19:29

I was traumatised at that age from Bambi's mum dying so definitely no to Final Destination.

Namechanger355 · 23/03/2023 19:29

gosh no no no

it deals with death of teens, very adult concepts such as fate and Is extremely gory

it would be borderline neglectful

Me and dh made the very stupid decision to watch this one before we went to a theme park. Well, it was a market held in the same place as a theme park. We usually spend the morning at the market, and then the afternoon on rides. We managed one ride. We clung to each others hand, and pretty much squeezed our eyes shut Grin

Yeah some of the stuff my kids watch with me is… well mn wouldn’t approve.

I have an 8 and almost 10 year old. Final destination is not quite there for them yet

finaldest · 23/03/2023 19:35

Glad everyone agrees as he looks at me like I'm ridiculously overprotective or something 😆 wtf I still hear that creepy song in my head and I'm in my 30's!!!
