This is how I feel. The rush to say the right things and the stifling of sensible discussion have led us here.

We've allowed a bunch of zealots to dictate ill thought through policy and now the whole transgender community, of whom most are lovely and harmless, will suffer because of the reaction.

☹️

We know lots of lovely young people who have taken this path. None of them are sex offenders and weirdos. I hate to think how much harder their lives will be now. I blame the stupid stonewall bullying for stifling debate.

Not to mention the constant shifting to the right because there are a silent majority who don't agree. This stuff scares them off voting for left wing parties and hey presto - a one party state in tatters.

There is definitely a growing right wing movement in Ireland because of the lack of discussion prior to the GI laws being dictated.

Well this is the problem with self ID. Women have warned about the effect on LGBT rights. For years and year.

Because with no gatekeeping you allow in the predators and as they say acceptance without exception...

The gay community are also being accused of transphobia because they don't want to date transitioned male/female trans. They are infringing on women's rights & on gay rights.

Yanbu op. This trans nonsense contagion has to stop. Men can't be women and vice versa. Anyone who thinks they can is not living in reality.

Leo knew all about this. Of course he did. Pre Sturgeon's political suicide he would have said of course BK is a woman.

And I also admire Enoch for living by the sword on this. Apparently he has plenty of support from the parents and pupils at the school.

RTÉ reporting this this morning...if Leo & co aren't company aren't careful Ireland could turn in this direction which would be horrific for the lgbtq community. They need to act on BK & move him to a men's prison where they rest of the prisoners will also have penises.

Florida set to expand 'Don't Say Gay' law

The Republican-led US state of Florida is expected to ban the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in all school grades, in an expansion of a controversial law the White House slammed as "completely, utterly wrong".

You’ve got it all wrong. People are sent to prison as punishment, not FOR punishment. The punishment is deprivation of liberty,, it’s not state sanctioned rape and assault.

Exactly. Perfectly put.

What the fuck have I just read?

Mommymoments · 23/03/2023 10:10

@LangClegsInSpace thank you. I'll search up their page now? How are they faring? The trans groups try to shut down any rational discussion or questioning. Sick of them dictating their rights. I want my rights & my girls rights back. Fed up of this nonsense.

While fully agreeing with your main point in this thread, some of the language you use is hyperbolic and perhaps misinformed.

'The trans groups' - who exactly do you mean?

'Dictating their rights' - everyone has rights. Currently, while a strong GC advocate, my own rights have not been infringed, and nor have my children's. Does that make me complacent? Not at all - as cases like BK, changes to school curricula, and health literature relating to women are huge concerns and that's where I focus directly my energy.

I also retain genuine sympathy for anyone experiencing gender dysphoria, a very small group of people who need specialist care, and I am in support of the approach favoured by Dr Donal O'Shea.

As someone working in a university, I will say that so far, schools & universities are faring far better than in the UK. It is deeply shocking to read and hear about the harassment and bullying taking place against anyone opposing the TWAW ideology.

I think it's important to campaign but there isn't a necessity - nor is it wise - to throw out hyped up phrases that aren't evidence based.

Mommymoments · 23/03/2023 10:42

TENI for one.. I want rights in Ireland for biological women. I want my child to be able to use a women's restaurant toilet & not encountering a trans man. I don't give a flying f**k what you think of the language I'm using. At the end of the day

-the trans brainwashing nonsense needs to stay out off schools. It's grooming & encouraging children to undergo self mutilation

-women's spaces for women

-BK & all other men need to be moved to male prisons.

-No transwomen on women's sporting teams. Disgusted at the GAA allowing this. Girls need encouragement to stay in sports especially in the teenage years

@potniatheron what will happen in 5 years time when he's free to roam the streets again?

For sure. Except in Dublin, where I am, none of my 3 DC has experienced any 'trans brainwashing'.

What I have done to make sure this remains the case? I submitted feedback on the curriculum proposals for SPHE and am part of an advocacy group addressing such proposals.

That's what I mean. Deal with what's actually happening (and it's significant enough) instead of creating hyperbolic narrative.

No transwomen on women's sporting teams. Disgusted at the GAA allowing this.
More bland statements from you. I addressed this in an earlier post which you clearly didn't read. There is already pushback in the GAA against this. I fully agree with your point - so what are you doing about it? Address this through your local GAA club (as I have) or at a national level.

It's not your language I mind. It's the over-hyped statements, the silliness of proposing Enoch Burke as a possible woman's advocate and the lack of clear knowledge eg Irish media keep bashing the Catholic Church 🙄

Blackbirdblue30 · 23/03/2023 10:58

It is of note that this week, An Garda Siochana (Irish police) published a policy document regarding gender ID in their workplace. It states that whether or not the hypothetical trans person has a GRC (easy to get), they will be accommodated in communal bathrooms/changing areas etc etc of their preferred gender.

And effectively that if any employee says, I think best not, that that is discrimination.

It is believed (Gript I think) that a guard leaked the mugshots of BK when the case came out and the Irish media were supposed/forced to call him a 'homicidal girl' in the public alarm.

BK is an insane violent male who should be in a secure psychiatric unit, not a low security women's prison, regardless of what he or the TWAW preachers say. (haven't heard them saying much about this...) I can pity his horrific start in life but the lives of women are not collateral damage for mentally insane men.

I hope this is Varadkar's Sturgeon moment. We've all had enough.

EarringsandLipstick · 23/03/2023 10:59

Oh and by the way, I'd love to see one example from you of an Irish school grooming a child to self-mutilate.

I do take the issues very seriously. There has been a significant campaign in Ireland, backed by our leading paediatric endocrinologists regarding the use of the Tavistock clinic to deal with cases of children expressing a wish to transition. This is a huge issue and a real one and the type of practical area to focus on.

@EarringsandLipstick there is no place for penises in women's spaces or sports end of. I have also emailed my local tds regarding the proposed trans education supported by Norma Foley. I have also emailed about Barbie Kardashian.
Can you link the pushback to the GAA please?

OP posts:
EarringsandLipstick · 23/03/2023 11:02

Just a further note - agree with everything re the danger 'Barbie' poses. Afaik, there's no provision to house convicted prisoners in psychiatric units. They are jailed, and treated psychiatrically when there (barring those found not guilty by reason of insanity who instead go to the Central Mental Hospital).

@Blackbirdblue30 that's frightening. It's basically a case of everyone being told put up or shut up. Well this law needs to be changed rapidly if that's the case.

You just seem so uninformed about the real situation on the ground (which is serious enough).

regarding the proposed trans education supported by Norma Foley.

There is no proposed trans education - there is a proposed curriculum change to the SPHE curriculum, including RSE. If you can't use the correct phrasing, I doubt your 'email to local TDs' will even get read.

I too have grave concerns about this. That's why I submitted my views as part of the consultation process - did you do this? It was easy to do, and a lot more meaningful than a ranty email.

@EarringsandLipstick it hasn't happened yet as the trans education hasn't started but it will...
I was friends with a couple of tomboys growing up & they often said had this trans ideology been around in our early teens they would have absolutely jumped on the bandwagon.
Incidentally these two are now two of the most glamorous, feminine women I know..

If you'd even googled those terms you'd have found this (given you haven't heard about the Countess until today I guess you didn't).

thecountess.ie/the-lgfa-have-betrayed-women-and-girls-in-sport/

This provides a template letter to complete to campaign against the LGFA (another correction - it's not the GAA) and if you are on Twitter, you'll find a lot of women players supporting this and advocating against the policy.

HTH

SofiaSoFar · 23/03/2023 11:12

Fucking hell. This whole thing is hideous! Absolutely appalling.

Even the article mentions "...those with genuine gender dysphoria...", though, as if it's a real thing.

Until this dangerous nonsense is completely stamped out, once and for all, women and girls are never going to be safe.

😡

EarringsandLipstick · 23/03/2023 11:12
