Just to balance out all the posters who are disappointed with the sex of their babies (and 99% of the time it's having a boy).

I say this as someone who was disappointed about finding out I was having a boy.

But I was totally wrong (obviously).

He is the funniest, chattiest, most affectionate thing and I feel like going to wake him up right now to kiss him.

huuskymam what a terrible thing to say about your daughter, I'm sure she knows how you feel. She'll be this site soon saying her mum favours males and she's always second best.

octoberfarm · 10/03/2023 19:47

My two are so different but the eldest writes me the sweetest love notes - he hides them under my pillow and once made me a book called "Mum's big book of love". He's a stoic little thing but he has the biggest heart. The littlest is just the biggest cuddle bug - he's always giving me kisses or saying "Mum, you know I love you, right?". He strokes my face when I lie down with him for a nap and is just so incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I wouldn't change them for the world.

Flixon · 10/03/2023 19:54

I have three DS . They are totally different and I adore them all :-)

AliTheMinx · 10/03/2023 20:08

My DS (11) is my world. He's loving, loyal, kind, funny, bright as a button, caring and the best company. I couldn't have wished for a more wonderful child. My heart bursts with pride and love for him.

Sunriseinwonderland · 10/03/2023 20:12

I always wanted a DS after 2 sisters.
My DS is 40 now and is a sweet gentle man who loves his cats and his partner.
He is a fine artist and also a creative carpenter.
We are like two peas in a pod to look at.9k
We can talk for hours and hours. I am at my happiest when he is here.

TheFTrain · 10/03/2023 20:16

He's in his late teens. He has a dry sense of humour and a strong sense of compassion. He's intelligent, gentle and kind. I'm so proud he's my son.

jayho · 10/03/2023 20:26

I was on a work video call earlier today. 14yo son came in, asked if I could mute the call, came over, said 'I love you' and gave me a hug, a proper hug. Don't think there was a dry eye in the house... 😍

Bustard · 10/03/2023 20:30

I love my son. He's got the cheekiest smile and loves to make us all laugh. He is gentle and attentive. He gives me lovely kisses and cuddles and I can't wait to see the boy/man he will become. I have a million lovely things to say about DD too but she's never been a hugger/kisser!

Emmamoo89 · 10/03/2023 20:35

I love my son soooo much. He's so cuddly and loving. The most happy content little baba. He's my little fox 🥰

lookluv · 10/03/2023 20:35

There is nothing better than that moment they look you in the eye and just smile, the love for you just beams out. No competition. I am simply mum - they know I love them regardless and they can come and talk to me whenever and about whatever.
From the little snuggles on the sofa, to the great big bear hugs - to the cup of teas they make.

I am rediscovering things i missed as a child and learning a new way of looking at it - what is there not to love

Harthacnut · 10/03/2023 20:36

My son was my first-born DC. He is now 21. He is simply the most wonderful human being ever created.

He also happens to be hilarious, clever, ridiculously talented, interesting, good company, and stunningly good looking. But even if none of those was true (and he gave me a rough ride at some points) he would still be the most wonderful boy on the planet.

I had hoped my first child would be a girl, but I'm bloody lucky that he was himself. I'd have been happy and very lucky to have had 10 more like him.

Dignorantonio · 10/03/2023 20:51

My 11 year old DS is amazing. He’s thoughtful and affectionate and not into traditional ‘boy’ stuff like football. He loves reading and is at his happiest in a Waterstones choosing books. Always gives me big hugs and kisses and tells me he loves me. He’s great with younger children, so patient and sweet. Very neat and tidy too, much more som than DD!

Giggorata · 10/03/2023 21:06

I will never forget the lovely feeling of walking down the street between my two huge sons.

kitcat15 · 10/03/2023 21:16

I have 2 sons age 31 and 24…..I love them to pieces …..they drove me mad as children…always in trouble at school….very cheeky…both of them ( my DD was a little angel in comparison)

BeGentlePeeps · 10/03/2023 21:20

My 11yo still casually throws his arm around my waist affectionately when we are out 1:1 walking the dog. He hangs on my arm when he is telling me something that amused him. He is easy to read and communicates feelings so clearly.

My 8yo was a terror toddler and anxious preschooler… and has transformed into a very hilarious tenacious and determined little boy. He is my husband in miniature and they like to good naturedly power struggle re who ends up in mummy’s bed by the morning 🙈

I never had a preference re gender, I adore having a ‘matching pair’. They fight and compete but are also incredibly tight and protective of each other. They have their own rooms by choice but I consistently find them entwined with each other in one of their beds, sleeping like bear cubs with their arms around each other.

Wouldn’t change being a mother of boys for all the money in the world.

Although I’d love to be able to sit down for a wee without either falling down the loo (seat left up) or getting soggy boy pee on my thighs 🙄

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 10/03/2023 21:24

He’s affectionate, kind, thoughtful and very very loving.

I know you’re not supposed to have a sex preference but I find him 100x easier than my girl, and I’d have more if I knew they’d be boys. But having girls puts me off. I wonder change DD, but I wouldn’t want any more daughters.

Lndnmummy · 09/03/2023 17:36

Every single thing about them. They are joyous, glass half full, loving human beings who beam with light from morning to night. They are straight forward, physically on the move (constantly), chatting away endlessly and just so lovely in every way. They love us so intensely and they are always hugging us, telling us they love us etc. My dh and I say most nights how utterly proud we are of them both and the wonderful, kind hearted and resilient human beings they are. I don't know what I have done to deserve both of them, but they are the best thing I have ever done. I can't take any credit for them. I'm complex, neurotic, always stressed, glass half empty in outlook. Abit jaded, miserable even. Yet these two life loving full of beans boys have somehow been given to me as my offspring. I have genuinely no idea how!

I feel like you might be my mother doppelgänger 😂

chillidoritto · 10/03/2023 21:31

I hate the girl bashing comments that form the undertones of some comments. I have a DD followed by 4 DSs and they are all wonderful. Their qualities don't depend on their sex.

Plenty of people overlook boy bashing though and it’s quite bad on MN. It’s perfectly fine to acknowledge there’s a difference in girls and boys and girls can be difficult to cope with.

Ive worked with children and by far and large the most badly behaved were girls.

RudsyFarmer · 10/03/2023 21:36

My boys love me in a way no one else has. I can’t explain it. It’s a fierce, protective love and I’m going to enjoy it until they pass that love over to their wives/girlfriends.

Mandasporian · 10/03/2023 21:40

I was never hoping for a girl though as I knew a house full of boys would be more chill. No strops and they don’t need to fill every empty space with talking. You can still have a good conversation though

There is no need to put down girls to promote your boy though.
I have never understood this viewpoint. I have one of each, they are very different but both fabulous in their own ways.

I have no doubt if I had another 5 of each they too would be fabulous and individual regardless of their gender.

Enjoy your boys but don't knock girls in your effort to do so, its unnecessary.

Vallmo47 · 10/03/2023 21:40

For me, there is something uniquely special about the mother and son relationship. I don’t mean to offend anyone who doesn’t get to experience it, but it truly is special. My son is the one out of my two who seeks me out, checks in with me when we are apart and comes up for cuddles for no reason many times a day. I love how even at nearly 16 years of age his face lights up when he sees me and he will literally search through the entire house to find me over telling his story to anyone else. With everyone else, he has his strong face on, he’s the silent type, speaks when spoken to. But with me he’s literally a completely different person. A couple of times he’s written me little notes just to tell me how much he loves my company and how important I am to him. My favourite note ever was one saying how he will love me forever, but if I could change one thing about myself I’d make my farts a bit less smelly.
Boy or girl, they are both uniquely great, you get out what you put in. He feels my love and shows his back. 🥰

larry520 · 10/03/2023 21:43

Me too chillidoritto, I said the same. I have sons that I love and see their best qualities but these posts would not be tolerated about girls. I don't believe girls would be written about in such sickly and exaggerated terms either. We've had " the most wonderful human being ever" , " the funniest person alive " ( about a two year old) and many sons making their mothers weep with their " I love you's" and hugs. I'm grateful these truly magnificent, funny, caring boys are being raised so all the posts about misogynistic, lazy husbands will die off.

@ElonsMusky

Writing something rude and unhelpful like that on a wholesome thread like this is also a litmus test of a shit person you are. Who are you judge other people's feelings?

Diversion · 10/03/2023 21:46

I adore all of my children, I had G,B,G,G and they are all the most amazing people I could have wished for. My son was from the second he was born, loud and you could always hear him before you could see him. His first word was car and he has continued to be car, truck and pretty much any vehicle mad. He kissed me on the cheek up to the age of 10 when I dropped him off for school, at the age of 14 he announced that he was going to look for a Saturday job and did not return home until much later that day when he had found one. He has not stopped working since and has always been early to bed and early to rise. So very proud of him and equally proud of his sisters who have all achieved amazing things too.
