Just to balance out all the posters who are disappointed with the sex of their babies (and 99% of the time it's having a boy).

I say this as someone who was disappointed about finding out I was having a boy.

But I was totally wrong (obviously).

He is the funniest, chattiest, most affectionate thing and I feel like going to wake him up right now to kiss him.

My ds is 10yrs old. He has a huge amount of empathy for people. Enjoys learning. Has a wicked sense of humour. He very good looking (all mums say that) we have always been able to take him anywhere. He still likes to spend time with. He has a little girlfriend at school. He says he can't wait to marry her 😍

Racingadmin · 08/03/2023 20:45

My young adult ds is a throughly decent and useful human who will qualify as a paramedic this year . I could not be more proud of the thoughtful , funny and kind man that he's turned out to be . He's got a very dry sense of humour , a quick wit and is house trained enough that he will make an excellent husband / dad if that's what he chooses

This is a massive brag but I don't care.

I have a non verbal autistic 12 year old son and he’s the best, he’s funny, smart, gorgeous and so loving, I was so frightened when he first got diagnosed at 20 months old but I wouldn’t change him for anything, he’s amazing.

Chocolatebuttons100 · 08/03/2023 20:47

My DS is almost 8. He’s kind and funny and the most wonderful company. This evening he made me a card for International Women’s Day 😍

DinaofCloud9 · 08/03/2023 20:48

Mine are late teens and are caring, helpful and so easy going. I'm very lucky.

MarshaBradyo · 08/03/2023 20:50

Two Ds and one dd.

All great in their own ways, but I love my Dses, so many good qualities it really has opened my mind to the joy of having boys

Smart, kind, straight up, funny all that

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/03/2023 20:51

Well I love almost everything about him. He's nearly 20 and has his faults but I just love him. Why wouldn't I?

Isledelaray · 08/03/2023 20:53

Everything. He is just 2 and learning a few words but even without us chatting back and forth yet we have such a good time - he is so much fun, a great little sense of humour and full of energy!

I love how he sees things that I don't and how every little thing fascinates him.

He is so kind and gentle and tries so hard to the right thing, it hurts my heart!

I love watching him when he doesn't know that I am, chatting to himself in his own way, figuring things out then coming to find me but realising I'm already there. And seeing him flourish in the classes we go to and find his confidence to join in - then looks at me with delight and claps. Best thing ever.

I'm so proud of him and love him so much I could burst sometimes. I can't believe how lucky I am that I have him tbh!

Everything, just Everything

cptartapp · 08/03/2023 20:54

That everything about them growing up as males has been an absolute revelation to me as a female. It's like seeing everything from the other side. From a different perspective.

LargeQuarterPounderwithfries · 08/03/2023 20:57

They are straightforward, to the point and the most affectionate little things. They are kind and funny . Loud and noisy but absolutely beautiful. 💙💙

ssd · 08/03/2023 20:53

Everything, just Everything

❤️

Hoppinggreen · 08/03/2023 20:58

Everything- he’s a great big strapping 6ft 14 year old and he melts my heart

LincolnshireYellowBelly · 08/03/2023 20:59

I love absolutely everything about them. They are both so very different in many ways but they are both funny, clever, kind and affectionate.

They both will watch any film - war films and sci fi with my husband, Rom-coms and dramas with me.

We can take them to stately homes, football matches, theatre productions and they appreciate it all.

i feel like the luckiest mum ❤️❤️❤️

oldwhyno · 08/03/2023 21:01

Thanks for the post OP. ❤️❤️

newfriend05 · 08/03/2023 21:04

I love having boys ..mine are the kindest , funniest and loveliest men .. and as babies were so cuddly and sweet always had a hug .. I love everything about them ..

JassyRadlett · 08/03/2023 21:04

Ah this is a lovely thread. Mine are 11 and 7 and I just got back from a work trip to both of them standing behind the door (they'd heard the gate) to half-flatten me in a fierce hug.

They're very different children in many ways but adore each other when they're not bickering, are treasure troves of Amazing Facts and deep questions, love a kitchen disco and singing in the car and making up stupid songs and interrupting you every two minutes about a FASCINATING thing they just read/saw, are grand to go on long exploring walks with and travel with and dream big dreams. I love watching their senses of humour develop and the eldest gently test how sarcastic he can be to his parents and how to lace it with just enough humour to make us all laugh. I love watching my incredibly shy boy find his voice and his confidence and start to soar. I love their ridiculous ambitions and enormous plans to change the world and/or make their fortunes.

Most of all I love the fierce hugs.

TwinsAndTiramisu · 08/03/2023 21:05

Have both. Always thought I wanted girls. I'm girly. All my interests are typically girly. Very shallow in my thinking of "what would I even do with a boy."

Before DTwins, I had elder DS. Always felt that I really wanted a girl. DTwins are boy/girl.

I now know if I'd had all girls, I'd have been missing out big time. I love DD to bits, but if I had to go back in time and choose only a boy or only a girl, pre-children me would have gone "girl" and me, having experienced both now, would go "boy."

Just wanted to put that out there for all the "so upset it's a boy" threads. Boys are fantastic. Me fifteen years ago could not even comprehend how I could think that.

All my DC are brilliant in their own ways. Littlest DS in particular though, is the sweetest, funniest, little bundle of absolute joy I could ever have hoped for.

fdgdfgdfgdfg · 08/03/2023 21:07

I have a DD so will talk about my nephew. He's six and his willingness to disassemble absolutely anything to find out how it works amazes me. He's a little engineer, spent 4 hours last week taking apart an old hoover to try and work it out. Unfortunately the six year old did not work out how to fix the motor, so he has a way to go.

Iamblossom · 08/03/2023 21:07

My two sons are without question the best thing I have ever done in my whole life.

16 and 18, I am often told what a credit they are to my DH and I. Open, friendly, polite, affectionate, protective, endlessly funny, chatty.

My pride and joy.

Cant lift a fucking toilet seat up to piss, their rooms are a disgrace most of the time and they eat anything not nailed down, but other then that, see above. Smile

Choconut · 08/03/2023 21:07

I wanted a girl, but he's 16 now and I am so glad he was a boy.

ouchmyteeth · 08/03/2023 21:09

Everything 💙

I have 2 and zero desire for a girl. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything and feel so blessed and lucky.

Freshair87 · 08/03/2023 21:09

This is such a lovely thread. I always wanted 2 DD but I am so full of love with my perfect DS, we have an incredible bond and if I ever had another baby I'd want another DS

mickeysmug · 08/03/2023 21:09

He's 14. Tells me he loves me without being prompted. Gives big hugs. He's good company and we proper laugh.

AlbertaAnnie · 08/03/2023 21:11

I didn’t even know that there was any disappointment linked to having a son? I was thrilled when my first was a boy. He’s all the best bits of me and I love the bones of him ( although obviously love my daughter also) 🥰
