To try for Eurovision tickets

Flamingogirl08 · 07/03/2023 11:10

We're saving really hard for a house at the moment so treats are few and far between. However I have always loved Eurovision, I have such lovely memories of watching as a child. This year its in the UK and very near me. AIBU to just bite the bullet and try and get tickets. It really feels like once in a lifetime for me but it is expensive

Yes but please please only from the official sellers and absolutely not viagogo. I’ve met a few people over the years (including a couple who flew to Turin last year) who arrived at the venue only to find the tickets didn’t exist.

Oh absolutely. They're on sale on ticketmaster at 12pm so if I decide to do it that's what I'll try.

My dh lost his job yesterday but dd has always been a Eurovision fanatic so I'm going to try too.

The tickets are not transferable, Ticketmaster's transfer ticket thingy will not work on this event and you need ID apparently. The only resales will be via Ticketmaster themselves.

I was actually working for the NEC group the year it was in Birmingham, I was next door to the NIA. Some colleagues got to see one of the dress rehearsals, I didn't.

gingerscot · 07/03/2023 11:20

Do it! I’ve been to a recent one and it was fab. Great atmosphere, lots of super fans (I’m not). See if they have a “village” or similar for the semi-finals that you can go to, those are great fun too. Our tickets for final gave us access. Like a Eurovision festival.

Flamingogirl08 · 07/03/2023 13:34

Well that was a waste of thread. I didn't manage to get any, not even a semi final. Ah well!

Me neither. Not even hospitality

I thought these ones only go on sale on Thursday?

For hospitality we worked out it will be about £25-30k for the 3 shows. 😱

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/03/2023 13:55

Disappointed here too.

It was even more annoying that they didn't put up an all-sold-out message and leave you trying to see what they have available. Even if you select just one ticket and say anywhere, any section, it still tells you 'selection not available - try a different selection'. It was like the Monty Python cheese shop.

It's ridiculous when they leave people queuing when they know that there's absolutely nothing left that they can buy. In fact, I just refreshed the event list and all of the dates are still saying limited or low availability. I suppose you don't get much more limited than 'none at all'.

Comefromaway · 07/03/2023 13:57

One of dd's work colleagues managed to get 2 shows. Two when we couldn;t even get one.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/03/2023 14:02

There will undoubtedly be some people going to every single show. How they managed to get the tickets, much less afford to pay for them is anybody's guess; but there are always some who manage to beat the system. Obviously not talking about people performing or working there.

Comefromaway · 07/03/2023 14:09

Dd is a massive super fan. She even watches each countries selection programmes.

Stopandlook · 07/03/2023 14:22

I’d love to go with the family but getting tickets for anything these days is just awful. I kind of long for the old days when real fans would queue rather than nabbing them at home for resale.

thecatsthecats · 07/03/2023 14:41

The Eurovision gods seem to have smiled on us again - we got tickets to an afternoon and a live show.

Shebelievedshecouldbutshecba · 07/03/2023 15:23

Can’t believe my luck - sat there from 11am with multiple devices, ticket master crashed on all but one but got tickets to the family show on the one that didn’t crash! Happy days!

Neuronamechange · 07/03/2023 15:31

3 of us tried. No luck.

5foot5 · 07/03/2023 15:57

I got tickets!!
DD and I are going to the afternoon preview of the second semi final.
I sat watching the site from 11am but when I was put in the queue it said 2000+ people ahead of me. I sweated on that for nearly half an hour and when I finally got to the front of the queue all seats and standing were gone and it was just hospitality tickets left at about £200 each.
However I was a bit giddy with excitement at that point so I bought them anyway Grin

AndISeeNothingWrongWithThat · 07/03/2023 16:14

Sorry to hear you'll missed out, OP and others. I think it was incredibly hit and miss.

My sister and I were both trying to get tickets and before I had even got my first shot at the top of the queue, she had been in and placed 3 separate orders. Absolutely no idea what made the difference.

We got an approximation of what we wanted for the Saturday afternoon preview - 4 tickets but in 3 separate areas so it will be a fight to see which 2 of us sit together!

Flamingogirl08 · 07/03/2023 16:19

Happy for those of who who got tickets and not cursing you at all, honest 😀

I will hopefully be able to go to the fanzone at least

If you missed out, Mersey Ferries are doing daily shows, plus Grand Final live showing for just £60pp.

So1invictus · 07/03/2023 18:32

My friend got as far as being n25 in the queue but no further. I was still on the blue line 🤣

OddshoesOddsocks · 07/03/2023 18:33

We had 3 people, 4 phones and a laptop all out and only 1 of us made it through! I was aiming for a family preview of the final but managed a FP of semi 2. I’m just excited to go really and take dd2 who will be beside herself when I tell her!

a friend of mine managed to get tickets to both semis and the final, no idea how they managed that!!

NatMoz · 07/03/2023 18:37

I got 2 tickets for a preview and felt blessed!

I have no idea if it made any difference but the tickets that succeeded where on a desktop computer.

Also used a tablet
