For me
The unending shite that is brexit
Corruption and dishonesty, especially during the pandemic but not uniquely. And not just Johnson.
Making already deprived areas compete against each other for levelling up money whilst perfectly affluent tory voting areas are handed it on a plate (looking at Richmond N yorks Rishi ! ). Funny that 80% of constituencies getting levelling up funds are tory...
Whole culture war. Singling out certain minorities to attack for purely political gain. In the 80s single mums, 90s benefit claimants, 2000s refugees, immigrants. FWIW I'm fairly gender critical but disliked the way they toadied round Trump and his abhorrent opinions/followers who pretty much wrote the culture war playbook.
So what stops you from voting for them ?

The Tories screwed our economy and now we are paying for it with pay restraint, inflation and hundreds of pounds on our mortgage payment every month.

Why should we take the punishment because our corrupt government funnelled billions to their mates, took us out of our main export market, and the financial community doesn’t consider them trustworthy or sensible?

You haven't heard the latest narrative.

Apparently Liz Truss is doing the rounds saying that the UK wouldn't be doing as well as it as if it hadn't been for her mini fiscal event (it wasn't a budget remember).

To sold out crowds everywhere. Everywhere around the world that is. Even she isn't dim enough to try that shit here. However the papers will lap it up.

I think a more pertinent questions is "What would make you vote for the Tories?"

A lobotomy

verdantverdure · 14/07/2023 09:39

Tory incompetence over the past thirteen years in managing the debt burden, which has left the UK's public finances much more exposed to rising inflation than any other comparable country.

And then punishing US with high interest rates for the problem of THEIR creation.

verdantverdure · 14/07/2023 09:43

Apparently there’s nowt so gullible as Tories @SerendipityJane

There’s a complete inability to recognise nonsensical fantasy when it’s been peddled to them.

Hence Brexit I suppose.

SerendipityJane · 14/07/2023 10:10

US inflation falling I see. Who'd have thunk a country with the resources of a continent at it's disposal would be able to recovery so quickly ?

Meanwhile the UKs 1970s makeover continues as planned. The only thing we are missing is refuse collection and gravediggers strikes. Pass the Angel Delight an a hostess trolley.

SerendipityJane · 14/07/2023 10:14

Interesting that Lady NadBeth has been outed as trying to get onto Liz Truss honours list. To be rejected by one outgoing PM may be regarded as unfortunate. To be rejected by two in two months start to look like you are a frothing loon that nobody likes.

And the utter gammon and spinach we all have to engage with regarding Boris Johnson’s iPhone.

He likes to play with the whole “Is he thick?”/“Is he lying?”dichotomy doesn’t he?

Making anyone who believes him look a complete fool.

I bet he's glad for end to end encryption now ....

😁

Boris Johnson tells an obvious lie.

His poor benighted supporters repeat it and support it and look like complete idiots when it is unequivocally demonstrated to be an obvious lie…

Then in a little while he’ll do it to them again.

Repeat until they learn…

In fact, it's probably no coincidence that this "story" is unfolding in the shadow of the Online Safety Bill that would have guaranteed the authorities access to Boris' (and everyone elses) Whatsapp messages.

Morals

User135644 · 28/09/2023 16:47

People forget just what the Tories have done for us (almost like the Romans Life of Brian sketch at this point). They legalised gay marriage, they got the deficit down, they got Brexit done (which was a genuine constitutional crisis). They brought in furlough.

It's so sad the way people focus on the negatives and not the great things they've done while in power. It's not fair either.

kateluvscats · 28/09/2023 16:50

Can someone please bullet point me things that labour is going to do to turn the country around, people say don't vote Tory but what exactly are labour going to propose? Need a reason to cast my vote to the right party.

They are going to be Not The Tories. Whoever comes next is going to be Not the Tories. That is really important as the Tory party have wrecked our country, economy, credit rating, trade and reputation on the international stage.

The UK can't begin to turn around until we're rid of them.

MyJetNowAirlines · 28/09/2023 16:58

The horrifying state of public services.

Nw22 · 28/09/2023 16:59

Refusal to invest in the north.
lack of public sector pay rises.
only acting in interests of their donors not the people
brexit

YoureALizardHarry11 · 28/09/2023 17:00

The fact I’m not totally thick and/or devoid of any morals, to put it succinctly.

Hersecretserviceyourmaj · 28/09/2023 17:02

I haven't decided who I will vote for but it will be the biggest voting conundrum I've had in my lifetime.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 28/09/2023 17:33

I’m ashamed to admit that I voted the conservatives in to power due to their policy that they would make working pay more than benefits. They haven’t done that in 13 years and they promptly cut them froze my public sector pay to the point where I’m now 30% worse off in real terms than I was 12 years ago. More fool me I guess.

I also will never vote for them again due to what Michael Gove did to schools, the destruction of SEND education, the continued cuts to schools, the NHS and the decimation of council budgets. That’s before we add in Brexit, the covid response, the partying, the contracts to their mates, allowing sewerage to be pumped into rivers, lakes and the sea, the endless lies, etc, etc…

We also used to have a conservative local MP who I don’t think even knew where our town was and was constantly MIA whereas now we have moved we have an excellent Labour MP who is always out and about in the local area, campaigning for all sorts of good things and has personally written me a long reply to the 2 emails I have sent her about issues.

kateluvscats · 28/09/2023 19:08

As mentioned no one can answer this.....

pilates · 28/09/2023 20:54

I answered it.

The Tories have fucked things up so badly that the government just not being the Tory party will be better for the country.🤷‍♀️

Waitingfortheconferencehosttojoin · 28/09/2023 22:51

I am fundamentally opposed to their core ideology. They have nothing to offer me as a voter. Don’t even get started on the moral bankruptcy of the party in recent years.

SusiePevensie · 29/09/2023 11:35

We're paying more for our debt because qe're seen as a less trustworthy country because we've been run by a bunch of barking extremists. Just seeming boring and reliable under Labour could save us a fortune.
