For me
The unending shite that is brexit
Corruption and dishonesty, especially during the pandemic but not uniquely. And not just Johnson.
Making already deprived areas compete against each other for levelling up money whilst perfectly affluent tory voting areas are handed it on a plate (looking at Richmond N yorks Rishi ! ). Funny that 80% of constituencies getting levelling up funds are tory...
Whole culture war. Singling out certain minorities to attack for purely political gain. In the 80s single mums, 90s benefit claimants, 2000s refugees, immigrants. FWIW I'm fairly gender critical but disliked the way they toadied round Trump and his abhorrent opinions/followers who pretty much wrote the culture war playbook.
So what stops you from voting for them ?

Things can change...

Whilst i agree, it would also be a huge gamble, the media would turn against Labour, quote all of Starmers previous utterances on the subject and portray him as weak, flip floppy, Tories would love it.

No, i'm afraid that having said he would "make brexit work" he has no choice now.

I think we will need a new generation of political leaders before we will joint the SM, let alone apply to join the EU.

This country is in total bonkers land.

Sure fire way to keep us in that "fake democracy" and what the present Govt would love to happen.

Removal of hard earned rights is exactly what they, the Tories, want, inc the right to vote.

Public sector worker here- worked local government, nhs and now social services. Their attitude to these services is atrocious. I cannot understand how a public sector worker would vote Tory.

Last couple of years they’ve shown themselves Up to be vile, stupid liars.

rishi Sunak looks incredibly smug and why wouldn’t he.

their absolute obsession yet again with getting people back to work- latest by making childcare cheaper rather than making flexible working available to all.

sosickofthisshit · 26/03/2023 20:09

Every single one of the Tories are self serving, dishonest, incompetent, loathsome cunts and I would rather gouge out my own eyes than give them my vote

Katypp · 26/03/2023 20:10

The reason I could never vote Labour is I would hate to think I was like a lot of pps on here. The well thought out reasons I can understand (even if I don't agree) but the silly sweary responses and the santamonous ones along the lines of 'because I care' 'because I am not stupid like you' or because I am a very good person and you are not' not so much.
Anyway, the Op just started this thread so she could tell us, all how fabulous she (thinks) she is, and she has given many more an opportunity to share how great they (think) they are, so hurrah for that.

Is that your only reason? Seems sensible.

People who vote for one party or another ALL think they are right and everyone else is wrong and there for "Stupid" or "Don't care"

You aren't any different in voting for the Tories.....

I vote on track record and the Tories have had 13 years to prove they are good for us and the country.

By any measure they have failed.... aside from war, relatively... we have never had it so bad, in many regards, pre NHS healthcare, destroyed the economy, highest taxation, roads in a mess and council tax now over £2000!!!

Fuck... they even made taking your dog abroad almost impossible unless your minted.

Sounds very much like all the 'I voted Leave because some anonymous remain poster on the internet called me thick' posts, thereby proving anonymous remain poster right.

Umm I'm not too sure about why I wouldn't vote Tory...

I don't see how being anti-Brexit would help Labour. The seats they need to win are pro-Brexit. They'd just be piling up more votes in seats they already win if they came out against Brexit.

verdantverdure · 27/03/2023 06:28

There's only one constituency in the country that is still in favour of Brexit though.

And two that come out as a tie in polling.

The other 647...

Is it the having to remortgage stop a higher rate?

Highest electricity bills in the world?

Not being sure of getting an ambulance or a hospital bed when you really need one?

Raw sewage in rivers and on beaches?

Stinkysock · 27/03/2023 06:38

I’d vote Labour in the blink of an eye if Keir stopped his plan to change the rules around self ID. Some blokes just don’t get how vulnerable being a female is.

It's not that I don't have single issues that I care about. I just vote on what I think is best for the country.

The NHS, the economy, the environment, education, that kind of thing.

I'd rather not be manipulated by the Far Right and GB News into voting against our country's best interests.

So asylum hotels and self ID will not be deciding my vote.

pilates · 27/03/2023 07:05

The British public voted for Brexit not the conservatives. I prefer Rishi to Keir.

Mummadeze · 27/03/2023 07:13

I have many reasons but mostly it is around cuts to the police, lack of social care, education, health. Also hearing about the dodgy contracts they have given out, wasting money. Boris was extremely off putting too.

FindingMeno · 27/03/2023 07:15

Because I'm not a selfish twat and I have a social conscience.

Brexit was as a direct result of Tory policy &

17m out of a population of 70m and out of an electorate of 46m voted for Brexit.

Sick to death of hearing "the British public voted for Brexit" and because of this, we can never ever revisit what was effectively an opinion poll, a snap shot of opinion BUT unlike a GE, thats that, now sftu.

Fair enough on who you prefer, i don't like either of them.

Of course there are honest politicians with integrity, this is just yet another lie put out by lying politicians/supporters when their favourites are caught lying. The fact that the public choose not to vote for them is on us. I mean look at Boris Johnson, right back in 2016, his character and (lack of) honesty was completely clear and the people cheered and cheered.
