Hardly ever tick ‘allow substitutions’ on my online shop because of past experience, however I didn’t want to risk no wine and I’m not too fussy.

AIBU to think this was a ridiculous substitution? There must have been 20+ different white wines in the price range I’d selected, yet for some unknown reason the person picking this shop decided to an Alcohol Free bottle was the closest match.

Worst still DH didn’t notice it was an alcohol free bottle and accepted the substitute Angry

That's crazy! Which shop was it?

Blueuggboots · 04/03/2023 19:55

Last week, Morrisons substituted romaine lettuce for spring onions?? Why not send a different lettuce?!

MistyFrequencies · 04/03/2023 19:56

My god that would annoy me.

PissTakeSubstitution · 04/03/2023 19:56

Tesco. It feels personal for some reason…. Like they didn’t want me to have wine.

😂 Bastards.

yoyo1234 · 04/03/2023 19:57

Is that correct, £8 for alcohol free wine 😡 .

Definitely sounds like that picker was doing a bit of a fuck you. It must be a shit job to be fair but not cool!

£3.25

PissTakeSubstitution · 04/03/2023 20:00

@yoyo1234 the wine I ordered was £8, the AF one and the price they charged me was £3.25.

How many white wines must there have been on the shelf to substitute it for?

Seriously Tesco, literally any white wine with alcohol would have been fine.

Ask for a refund

Oldnproud · 04/03/2023 20:00

You think that's bad? Someone on Gransnet once ordered panty liners and was sent cat litter tray liners instead! 😂

BigFatLiar · 04/03/2023 20:00

What's wrong with alcohol free wine?

BeyondMyWits · 04/03/2023 20:01

Ring them up, ask for a refund.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 04/03/2023 20:01

What's right with it? 🤯

Blablablanamechangagain · 04/03/2023 20:01

I had menopause shampoo and conditioner as a substitute last week.

I felt that was personal. (I'm mid 30s with a child under 1) 🤣🤣

You can still request a refund online I think, not that it helps with the wine levels now.

TippityTappingLikeAWaterboatman · 04/03/2023 20:02

I'd be livid, get your money back, there's no way anyone (customer) would check closely to see if it's alcohol free, I mean you'd just bloody assume.
I've had ordinary wheat pasta sent as a substitute for gluten free pasta !!!

LoobyDop · 04/03/2023 20:02

BigFatLiar · 04/03/2023 20:00

What's wrong with alcohol free wine?

It doesn’t have alcohol in it.

PissTakeSubstitution · 04/03/2023 20:02

Nothing if that’s what you order.

I ordered a 12.5% bottle. It’s Saturday night. I wanted a bottle of white wine. With alcohol.

They are passively aggressively commenting on your purchase history 🍷

fajitaaaa · 04/03/2023 20:03

They might have thought the wine you chose was so shit it must be for cooking so it wouldn't matter
