Not to share my exam revision notes

A group of us work colleagues are sitting an exam in the summer. I’ve worked hard to go through past papers and write up the questions and answers so I’ve got them to refer back to.
The pack is about 15 sides of A4 so it’s taken a while.
Colleagues saw me printing them off and asked for copies to give to the others too! I laughed and said I might but I felt really annoyed by it. It’s taken me hours and hours to collate this information and they’ll just have that side to work through without doing anything!

AIBU or should I let them all have a copy too? No skin off my nose if they all pass etc .

Ahh sticky situation! And really cheeky of them to ask! Personally I would find it hard to say no as they've already seen the copy and asked, but I would be really pissed off that I'd done all the work and they didn't have to do anything! Sorry I can't really give any advice, but you would'nt be unreasonable if you said no.

Newstartonwards · 03/03/2023 19:01

No

KikkisCat · 03/03/2023 19:02

It would be a no from me too

HappySonHappyMum · 03/03/2023 19:02

Cheeky fucker alert - tell them you're happy to swap notes and you'll sort it out once they bring theirs in - which of course will never happen!

PacificallyRequested · 03/03/2023 19:07

Say you'll sell them each a set of notes for a tenner!

Nimbostratus100 · 03/03/2023 19:09

why wouldn't you help out? They won't get the full benefit, as collating them yourself would have done a lot for your comprehension and retention, but I'd be pleased to help out

Namechangethisevening · 03/03/2023 19:09

I would just keep forgetting to bring them in :)

but why should the OP who has taken time and effort do put this together for her own benefit just had it out to other people

countdowntonap · 03/03/2023 19:11

No. Tell them that the making of the notes WAS the revision process!

TotallyWhatever · 03/03/2023 19:11

I think the benefit of making notes is from actually doing it. Thinking about content, what’s key and relevant etc, and it seals it in your brain. I’ve never found Borrowing someone else’s notes/shortcuts remotely helpful. It’s like trying to give a lecture/talk using someone else’s PowerPoint. It looks familiar but you’re not sure of the points they’re trying to make etc. So I’d hand it over and not feel particularly pissed off. You’ll do better than them in exam!

howshouldibehave · 03/03/2023 19:11

I wouldn’t share it. I probably wouldn’t have shown anyone my notes either though!

passtheolives · 03/03/2023 19:12

Lesson learned to be more discreet when printing something off that could benefit colleagues

Only you know if not sharing is going to cause issues

you could always share a condensed version

chipsandpeas · 03/03/2023 19:11

you have got something that can help other people, to no cost to yourself - I don't get why you wouldn't. Surely that is the default, to help out your colleagues

Irridescantshimmmer · 03/03/2023 19:13

Tell your colleague to take a long walk off a short pier😂

Clarinet1 · 03/03/2023 19:15

I’m not going to say whether you should or shouldn’t give the other people the notes but I think the point is that, by working through the past papers to prepare them, you will actually have assimilated information which will help
you do well in the exam. The fact that the have a copy in their hand/desk drawer/bag and may even stare lazily at it will not magically give them the tools to get a good mark!

OneFrenchEgg · 03/03/2023 19:16

What is it ? Selected questions for you to practice, chosen from a range or actual notes? I'd probably send a link to the site you used tbh.

OheeOheeOh · 03/03/2023 19:16

Absolutely not. I did my masters course with someone who used to do this sort of thing with EVERYONE. We once had a piece of coursework to do that was analysis of some data and answering questions, she saw me in the computer room having completed it and printing it off and asked me to send her mine 🤣 I laughed and said, why on earth would I do that, it's taken me a week to do it. Granted this is just your revision notes, but you've put the work in, why would you share them? Wouldn't everyone doing well have an impact on the grade boundaries anyway? You'd be helping to inflate their grades. Don't do it.

You say no cost, but what about time, spending ours after work, weekends etc...why is it fair for her to do all her own work then be expected to just hand it out to others who haven't had to sacrifice any of their own free time to do it.

Clarinet1 · 03/03/2023 19:17

Ah - cross post - I see others have made similar points to mine.

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/03/2023 19:19

They’re revision notes OP, not the ark of the covenant.

Personally I would happily hand them over, but if it annoys you you could take comfort in the fact that they won’t get the same benefit from just reading your notes as doing it themselves.

Be more discrete if you don’t want to share, or people will think you’re a meanie.

FTLondon · 03/03/2023 19:21

Monetise it!! You might start a whole new side hustle.

strawberriesarenot · 03/03/2023 19:25

No.
I'd just say no, with absolutely no guilt what so ever, and I wouldn't care if anyone thought I was 'a meanie' or not (since I am not 6).
But you could always say, no, I don't want you failing because my notes were rubbish, if you want to be humble/diplomatic/etc.

Flipping cheek.

Whichwhatnow · 03/03/2023 19:25

Depending how well you all get on, I'd probably say OK but each of you owe me a drink/coffee/lunch or whatever if you pass!

Whiteroomjoy · 03/03/2023 19:26

PacificallyRequested · 03/03/2023 19:07

Say you'll sell them each a set of notes for a tenner!

A tenner? She’s worked through multiple exams papers! In her own time.
depending at what her going hourly rate at work is she should be charging them each that rate by how many hours it’s taken her
probably they need to pay a min of £100-200 pr more

at my hourly rates , before retiring, and amount of work I had to do for my professional exam it’d been £500 🤷🏼‍♀️

NellietheElephantpackedhertrunks · 03/03/2023 19:27

I wouldn’t. Just “forget” and, if they push it, turns out you mislaid them.
