FMS....thank you Germaine!

Wouldn't be my choice but if you like it go for it.
I think the shoes look very old fashioned though. I'd go for a platform sandal or shoe.

Sandra1984 · 26/02/2023 22:04

I think 50 is a great age to wear it, age has actually little to do with it, it mostly has to do with your body shape. That dress could look awful in a 25 yo if she didn't had the proper body to wear it. Plenty of 50 olds who would look in that dress.

ThePoshUns · 26/02/2023 22:05

Something like these

I love the shoes...not sure why some pp think they look cheap...if you have the figure go for it.

This.

I love love this jumpsuit. And the shoes are fab. I think ankle boots would look tacky and wouldn’t go with it at all. But I’ve never really liked ankle boots and how people pair them with almost everything.

FMS....thank you Germaine!

Thank you! I own several pairs in gold, silver, bright pink and electric blue - I'm a short arse and need all the help I can get! Love a good FM shoes

theleafandnotthetree · 26/02/2023 22:06

I think you're being a bit snarky in your responses, you did come on here and ask for thoughts you know. To your specific question, yes I think you are too old to wear something like this. I have a 48 year old friend with similar dimensions to yourself and gorgeous olive skin and I would say the same to her.

ThePoshUns · 26/02/2023 22:05

I appreciate you looking for them but honestly I think that they are so ugly!

OP posts:
category12 · 26/02/2023 22:06

Yeah, I think it's too young a style for a 50 yr old. There, I said it.

BreviloquentBastard · 26/02/2023 22:06

Go for it! Who cares of some old frump on Mumsnet who still uses the word Disco thinks it's tarty? I think you'll look amazing, and if you feel amazing that's what matters!

Go forth, sparkle, and have a magnificent birthday!

Lots of people think women our age should crawl into a cardigan and die quietly - no - wear the sparkly playsuit and the FM shoes and have fun

Or think that women our age probably look best in clothes that are sexy in an understated expensive kind of way, think Gillian Anderson in The Fall. There is surely a middle ground between 'I'm mad me' silver playsuits and cardigans in a coffin.

Authorisatingarchibald · 26/02/2023 22:11

I think it’s completely fabulous and wish I had the guts to wear something like that

Exactly, couldn't agree more! TBF on MN when someone mentions a DCs GP babysitting and they're in their 50s posters saying how exhausting it is for them etc and the OPs are expecting too much, I don't know any 50 yos in RL who seem old or too tired to look after young DCs and they definitely party hard still.

If it looks good on you then why not, it's not like you're going for a see-through outfit with just bra and pants on (which looks awful on a 20 yo also).

I am a toned-ish size 12, flat tummy, toned legs and big boobs and that sort of outfit really suits me so to the poster suggesting it's only for skinny people I think you're wrong. It's obviously a bit revealing on the boobs if they are on the bigger side but still looks fine and not tarty.

Greenshed · 26/02/2023 22:12

Not sure it’s the right thing for you, to be honest. It’s a young girls outfit, I think, but then, as they say, anything goes and if you feel happy wearing it, then buy it.

Fimat · 26/02/2023 22:12

Gorgeous, age is just a number.
If they suit you and you feel good in it then off you go.
Fifty and FABULOUS!

0o0o0o0 · 26/02/2023 22:12

100% go for it. I have those shoes, love them..

Delatron · 26/02/2023 22:12

You’re not too old but you need to have amazing legs!

My legs used to be my best feature but now at 47 (with a hell of a lot of exercise still and I’m a size 8) I have to accept I can’t really wear short skirts anymore.

It may be different for you but skin/muscle tone goes. How are your knees? Mine are starting to sag slightly. If they are still good. Go for it!

Sandra1984 · 26/02/2023 22:15

The fashion police are here to arrest you OP 😂seriously... as long as you have the body and the confidence to wear that who cares about age.

Greenshed · 26/02/2023 22:15

I agree about the shoes, PyongangKipperbang. They are so ugly and clumpy.

ghostyslovesheets · 26/02/2023 22:15

theleafandnotthetree · 26/02/2023 22:09

But why is wearing a silver playsuit 'I'm mad me' ffs - it's just a jumpsuit - in silver

Wearing it over 49 somehow suddenly becomes attention seeking - the OP is tallish and size 8 - she will look fab

More importantly if SHE likes it and feel good in it - that's the issue

Not all of us want to waft around in silk two pieces and I bet Gillian would rock that outfit

ShirleyPhallus · 26/02/2023 22:17

I would love to see some of the alternatives that posters would suggest

Guarantee it would be frumpy patterned wrap dresses and cos bin bags

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/02/2023 22:17

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2023 22:02

"Get pissed and look fabulous"......those are mutually exclusive for me!! I can get pissed and look like a car crash or I can look fabulous and be stone cold sober Grin

Well .....if you are planning getting pissed remember to allow yourself double the time to slide out of your playsuit without dangling the sleeves in the loo while you take a wee.
And extra time for each drink as you get piss-ter (is that even a word !)

VyeBrator · 26/02/2023 22:18

Wearing it over 49 somehow suddenly becomes attention seeking - the OP is tallish and size 8 - she will look fab

Why do people say these things to some who they (presumably) have no idea whatsoever what they look like?

The OP may or may not look fab in it, literally not a single person here (apart from the OP) will know for sure.

Greenshed · 26/02/2023 22:18

I’m not the fashion police by any stretch, I just think that that dress is more suited to a younger woman , but, if the OP has the figure and legs for it, then by all means, they should go for it. At the end of the day, what others think is irrelevant - it’s what the would be wearer thinks that counts.
