I think at 50, if you have got to the point where you don't give a shit what people think then, an outfit you like and you feel suits you should be worn.
I personally don't like the shoes, but that's because being 50 myself and not having worn anything other than trainers since my teens, they wouldn't happen.
This kind of thread always reminds me of my ex mother in law. She used to wear mini skirts with high heels or hot pants, well into her 50's, she didn't have the legs for them, but she did it because her husband liked it.

kennycat · 02/03/2023 23:58

It seems my post came across very much not as I intended! In short I meant ‘absolutely go for it and revel
in your gloriousness’.

i honestly didn’t mean to offend anyone, I was just saying that I’d totally wear it whereas most of my other friends
wouldnt because they aren’t confident enough in their bodies
post children etc. I’m fortunate that im
way slimmer and more body confident after having children than I ever was before. Which I think is relatively rare…

@barmycatmum

As a fellow geek (sitting in my latest red dwarf tshirt!), I adore that and am very very envious!

@ImWearingReallyJudgyPants

The main reason people become fatter at any age is that they eat too much and don't move enough. Quite a lot of women use menopause as an excuse to expand, though.
This is a fairly uninformed comment. Just because it hasn’t happened to you, doesn’t mean it’s not true. Menopause can be extremely difficult for lots of women, and a breeze for others. Hormone changes and lack of sleep change how weight is put on and kept on, to name just a couple of factors.

Axahooxa · 03/03/2023 07:21

@PyongyangKipperbang

So not only do you have the sparkliest of sparkly shoes… you have a collection of red dwarf T-shirts? At some point, those shoes and that tshirt need to come together in an outfit of dreams.

I love it and think you'll look fabulous. Wish I had the height/figure to get away with it too.
Hope you have a great party 🥳 🎉

why do you believe you dont?

catfunk · 03/03/2023 07:47

I love sequins/ jumpsuits but there's something about that playsuit shape that is a bit young/ cheap looking imo. Like a bit 'miss selfridge' or 'boohoo'

I think I prefer gold sequins.

If you love it and it makes you happy then I say go for it

StClare101 · 03/03/2023 09:05

The important thing is to wear something you feel super confident in as the birthday girl. I’d be adjusting and tugging that outfit so it wouldn’t be for me. But if you feel fabulous in it, wear it!

ichifanny · 03/03/2023 09:08

Love the playsuit I’d wear platforms with it like Terry dehavilland ones

Sophie89j · 03/03/2023 21:23

This is the Eurovision drinking game!!

to wear this for my 50th?
Paq · 03/03/2023 21:28

Do it!

Wow, with that fluevogs site, you've just introduced me to the most expensive, ugliest shoes I've ever seen in my life! I never dreamt such things existed. They make me happy.

wyntersuhn · 04/03/2023 07:36

I'm going to my 50th dressed as Wonder Woman, so your outfit is totally acceptable!

Radical0pal · 04/03/2023 07:44

Just here for the photo, come on OP!

AnyFucker · 26/02/2023 21:04

That is a tacky outfit for any age

I agree it's the sort of thing a 20 year old hoping to get lucky would wear clubbing and the shoes look like they belong in a Barbie doll cheap, plastic and pointed
Sorry if that's brutal but you did ask 🤣

VerbenaGirl · 04/03/2023 09:12

Wildly age APPROPRIATE I’d say! Stunning outfit.

So, with pictures, show me what you think I should wear that wouldnt make me look like "a 20 year old hoping to get lucky would wear clubbing" along with the shoes that dont look "like they belong in a Barbie doll cheap, plastic and pointed"

I hope you feel better soon by the way.

Def not too old for it, if you love it, wear it.

May I also introduce you to Rosa Bloom who does amazing sequinned things in case you feel a jumpsuit or cape may be next www.rosabloom.com

I love these. Especially the size range ❤️

hahaha yep...aren't they ridiculous. I have a collection, I'm afraid 😆

barmycatmum · 05/03/2023 02:30

If I were going to wear something this bold and fun, I'd pair it with absolutely outrageous shoes - but I have APPALLING taste (I revel in it, and also, I'm lying, a bit: for day-to-day I wear very plain & subtle wool& garments in jewel tones.)
That having been said, if you want to have a pair of magic shoes you'll never forget you wore for your half-century celebration:

(they also have silver things, but I think it would be fun if people had no idea where to look, and "human disco ball" was just a clear theme. but that's me)

to wear this for my 50th?
to wear this for my 50th?
to wear this for my 50th?
Pipsquiggle · 05/03/2023 07:07

Basically no shoes with an ankle strap, they will make your legs look shorter.

Personally I would go with some platform heels slingback type sandals

You need to decide if you want want to show your toes.

I would also go with a contrasting colour

PleaseStopSayingHuBbY · 08/03/2023 01:23

When is the big reveal @PyongyangKipperbang ?
