What ever happened to Heather Mills?

I was thinking of her the other day, what ever happened to her? It's like she fell of the face of the earth. When she was married to Paul McCartney she was always in the news it seemed.

Living a life of sybaritic wealth, relaxation & luxury, one imagines, on Sir Paul’s money. As was always the plan, of course.

Wow. Predictably misogynistic post. And you know it was her plan because?

They met at a ceremony where she received an award for her activism after losing her leg. McCartney saw her on stage, was struck by her beauty and achievements, and asked someone for an introduction.

If she planned all that, it's hard to see how she hasn't taken over the world by now.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 25/02/2023 20:20

I always felt sorry for her. The press really ripped into her, for no real reason, because reporting of the McCartney divorce included allegations of terrible behaviour on both sides, not just Heather's.

The fact she seems to have quietly got on with her life since the split is very much to her credit.

Anyone have his number?

Hell, anyone have HER number?

AngeloMysterioso · 25/02/2023 20:22

Is marrying a mega rich man and having his kid really an achievement?

Because I’m not sure she’d have the vegan empire and the Guinness world record if she didn’t have the, what, £25 million quid she got in the divorce that literally everyone saw coming the minute they got married. Easy to start up a business and get good at a hobby when you’ve got that much cash.

I admire her for her gutsy determination and her honesty.

She dedicates a lot of her time to animal rights advocacy and that makes her a star in my book.

Who cares. I’m sure Paul doesn’t miss the cash. Animals were close to Linda’s heart so all was not lost.

I was thinking of everything she did before that, actually.

Honeyroar · 25/02/2023 20:23

I met her when I was cabin crew. I winced when she came onboard, expected her to be hard work, but she was polite, friendly and genuine. She didn’t even grumble when the airline failed to provide her vegan meal for the second flight on the trot. She was absolutely lovely.

BethDuttonsTwin · 25/02/2023 20:23

I always quite liked Heather. Never understood the hate she got. I think she was too strong for a man who likes to be spoilt and deferred to.

Tbf I couldn’t set up a restaurant chain even if I was a multi millionaire.

Butchyrestingface · 25/02/2023 20:25

Yes, very inspiring, the way she had to work and slave for years to build up the capital to fund her business venture, the sacrifices she made, the blood, sweat and tears that went into every penny… oh wait.

I've never understood why she was hated so much, I vaguely remember all the media coverage in the 00s and knowing I was meant to hate her...I don't know why though...

I was coming on to say the same thing, what terrible things did she do to be so hated then and still now it seems?

Rainbowshit · 25/02/2023 20:34

Don't get the hate either. She seems pretty inspiring.

I hate to say such a well-worn thing, but it comes down to misogyny in my opinion. Heather is a woman, she must therefore be a scheming gold-digger - easy target for the press.

With added 'Macca is a national treasure, we love The Beatles, wasn't Yoko horrible' vibes to fan the flames of hatred.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 25/02/2023 20:44

Just listened to something about Yoko and was struck by how cool and accomplished she was, and what a dick JL sounded like. Similarly with Macca. Seems like some woman always has to be a national figure of fun and hate. The whole thing is deeply depressing. I think the way she has lived since the divorce gives the lie to all the crap things said about her during it.

ReneBumsWombats · 25/02/2023 20:44

Lennon was an absolute knob.

lljkk · 25/02/2023 20:48

mmmm.... Don't read it if you don't like it. This is what I recall, roughly. HM telling lots of far-fetched tales, being very self-important, not kind to others. I hope none of it is true for her sake, or that anyway she's a well balanced kind & happy person now. I think a lot of it was probably accurate reporting, though.
