DP thinks my bag is 'childish and showy'

I'm originally from Sweden and back home people of all ages carry these bags. Last week, I decided to purchase a new Kånken to replace the one I've had for 10 years. Picked this colour (www.fjallraven.com/uk/en-gb/bags-gear/kanken/kanken-bags/kanken-rainbow-mini?v=F23621%3a%3a7323450792466) this time around to replace the black one I had, and DH absolutely hates it. I use it primarily for dog walks and trips to the local cafe/shops and he thinks it's too showy/childish and feels 'embarrassed' when I take it with me when we go out for coffee together.

AIBU to think that it's just a bag? It's not that bad, is it?

I agree with your husband. I would just assume you were carrying your toddler's/ young child's bag

I love my Kanken bag-so comfy to carry and fit loads in. Only thing is mine is a really dull colour that I only picked as it was in the sale, now I want a nice bright rainbow one like yours!

Ha I came on to say ooh I think you are being unreasonable not buying the gorgeous yellow one, but you did! Hurrah. My dh would think exactly the same as yours but has learned to tolerate my love for rainbows and bright colours over the years, use the bag, love the bag, yanbu!

I have some orange and green floral dungarees that would look epic with that bag! Happy to provide an aneurism for your husband at any point.

And probably a more realistic price, it seems very expensive for such a simple bab.

I have a high viz bright orange backpack which I take everywhere with me, I got it because it was reduced it is hideous, and holds everything I need for a day tramping in the sticks. It's also really well designed, comfy shoulder straps, waist belt and chest strap. I give absolutely no fcuks to what anyone thinks of it! But fashion is something which past me by years ago, I like comfy, practical and hard wearing.

He is lucky he is not married to me... I have just bought a bright yellow wool coat and I love it. Have never had so many people stop me to say how good it looks!

I don't know if I'd carry the rainbow one these days if I'm totally honest, with the whole rainbow flag meaning certain things that I wouldn't want people thinking I'm trying to co-opt..

But the Kankens are lovely, I'd love one. I've tried them on several times in Cotswolds, the thin straps stop me though.. I'd have to go up to he Laptop version with the padded straps and then they're not as cute and fun to me.
