To be worried about Russia's retaliations on the West?

fedupfufu · 21/02/2023 20:16

There was an LBC listener who called in and said that Russia will nuke the UK first as retaliation for giving Ukraine fighter jets. It wasn't too long ago that fighter jets were considered off the table by the US and the UK. There were also two people on an episode of Joe Rogan's podcast discussing this. The powers that be just seem intent on bringing us closer to nuclear Armageddon. Sometimes it seems like nobody will do anything until it's too late.

I'm surprised at the amount of pro russian support on MN on threads similar to this.

I'm not. There are a couple of quite obvious explanations.

Who in their right mind supports a nation that invades, murders and rapes its neighbours.....

Russian bots

I would much prefer it if we didn’t try and escalate things. Crackpot Truss and Boris are very keen for this. Why anyone would want to escalate this war I’ve no idea.

There was one moment when the West allowed things to escalate. Exactly a year ago, days and weeks before the attack. If we were open about the support for Ukraine "in case Russia attacks" Putin wouldn't dare to do it. After he got away with Crimea, he didn't expected the resistance from Ukraine and the scale of international support.

Let's not make the same mistake again. Putin is simply a coward. If he senses weakness, he bites. When he senses strength, he keeps away.

Do you not realise that Zelensky himself is one of the Ukrainians who has Russian as his first language? He, like many others, only really started using Ukrainian when the Russians invaded in 2014.

He's the wrong kind of Russian speaker. Inconvenient.

According to a relative's post on FB, the "naughty NATO members have been brought to heel." Apart from the usual Putin bluster, I can't see where they've been criticised, Their FB friend has posted that Biden was never in Ukraine as AF1 was flying in the US that night and it was an actor, my relative has also alluded to this by mentioning that Biden looked different.

Well I was proved wrong

I thought you'd show up yesterday.

Still now you're here - your post is the biggest load of shite I've seen since last week

Let me guess. You're anti vax too

MySugarBabyLove
No war was ever resolved through combat alone. That’s the reality.

Funny that claim turns up all the time. It goes on not being accurate.

I offer you WWII as a candidate for "oh oops, I forgot about that one"; nobody got round the table to discuss negotiations with Germany whilst the fighting was going on, Germany surrendered because they had been comprehensibly beaten in combat on each occasion. (Japan was also beaten in combat, as was Italy.) The only person who tried to open negotiations – for the UK to leave the war, in 1941 –was imprisoned for the duration and then for life; bloke by the name of Rudolph Hess who flew over here and was captured when his plane came down. (Well, several of the German higher command would probably have loved to negotiate once it was clear they were going to lose, but they didn't actually do it...)

Vietnam was a resounding defeat in combat too, not a negotiated peace. Same for the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. I don't recall negotiations with Saddam Hussein...

I'm not

Always happens when Ukraine has gains

Biden's visit was the dog whistle to the shills - I used to say bits but learnt from the thread last week what the difference was

Although maybe there are MNrs now who do support rape, kidnap, torture and genocide.

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 21/02/2023 23:03

Lots of traumatised tankies and fash adjacent weeping all over the Internet today. You love to see it.

sunsetboulevar · 21/02/2023 23:19

If China start supplying weapons then it's time for us to stop it's not a blank cheque and we have more than enough problems of our own.

The situation in Ukraine is very much our problem. I cannot understand why people don’t grasp this.

Surplus2requirements · 21/02/2023 23:28

Of we don't 'escalate' by giving the Ukrainians the means to push the invading Russian forces back all we will be doing is allowing Ukraine to slowly bleed to death as they fight for every inch.

Enable the continued abduction of Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia.

Allow further indiscriminate bombing of civilians, torture, rape and ultimately those that survive to live under a totalitarian regime they don't want as the Russian war machine continues to look ever further East.

...because I'm a bit worried about some bloke that phoned a radio station.

DixonD · 21/02/2023 23:30

watchfulwishes · 21/02/2023 20:20

I thought UK had not given any jets?

They haven’t, and it won’t happen without the agreement of all NATO partners, as stated a few weeks ago.

Surplus2requirements · 21/02/2023 23:35

Maybe the totalitarian forces mean well and want to help their Ukrainian neighbours and that they're happy to video the execution of their own deserters with a sledgehammer doesn't say anything about how benevolent they really are

WhereAreMyAirpods · 21/02/2023 23:39

Putin bots are busy today. Quiet night in Moscow, is it?

Yes, there’s only so much state TV one can stomach 😂

SofiaSoFar · 21/02/2023 23:43

Fuck Putin.

Nato/US/UK/whoever should get in there first and nuke Moscow.

That'll learn him!

Back in the real world, no one is nuking anyone, FFS.

ClaritaCee · 21/02/2023 23:45

I'm more worried about the salad shortage than the possibility of the UK getting nuked tbh.

There were tons of these threads this time last year, why the sudden resurgence?🤔

As you clearly know nothing about Ukraine and its history it would be nice to remain quiet.
Although, for the benefit of others. Russian speaking dose not equal being Russian.

You people are going to learn. Keep pushing people into a corner who have THEN have nothing to lose…

Your government has failed you into a false sense of reality/entitlement.

@EddyF OK.

go & have a little lie down.

There's a salad shortage? Now, that's a serious cause for concern. As opposed to the useful idiot fear-mongering on this thread.

WinterMusings · 21/02/2023 23:59

FrostyFifi · 21/02/2023 21:07

This again?!
At least if we're nuked we won't have the same thread every few months.

Silver linings & all that....

you must have been taking some time out, it's far more frequently than monthly!

Tg2023 · 22/02/2023 00:00

He's failed at defeating Ukraine so what chance do you suppose he stands against other countries?

He send one nuke anywhere and Russia will be history.
