Reverse Bucket List…

What would be your reverse Bucket List? Experiences that are meant to be awesome, once in a lifetime moments… but in reality rate as anything from ‘meh’ to ‘fuck that!’

Mine is…

A spa day. Totally boring and over priced to wallow in a pond of other people’s filth.

Everest Base Camp… never seen such a pile of litter. Made me feel sad.

Christmas shopping in London. Sensory nightmare.

North West 500… how to become the most hated being on the planet, drive a camper van round the narrow lanes of north Scotland.

Designer outfit. I still looked like a mad old bat.

Fish and chips by the sea at sunset. Getting covered in the shit of psychopathies seagulls isn’t what happens on Instagram.

Also
Raw kelp carb diet healing retreat.

Yep I agree with all of those. A massage is nice, but not the spa bit. A swim is nice, but not the spa bit.

I do like fish and chips but only away from seagulls.

I would add cruises

DoormatBob · 21/02/2023 18:23

London Marathon. Who wants to run the same route at the same time as thousands of other people, and have to queue to start. Can't think of a worse experience (and yes I am a keen runner!)

JamSandle · 21/02/2023 18:25

Things that many might consider to be rites of passage like having smoked a cigarette or getting blotto drunk.

Newpuppymummy · 21/02/2023 18:28

Cold water immersion

gourmet food

dubai

Lolabear38 · 21/02/2023 18:29

I went to the Sistine Chapel. You walk through lots of rooms and hallways before you get to it - all of them have painted walls and ceilings. When you finally get to the actual chapel it’s just another room with another painted ceiling - except the light is dimmer in there to protect it so it’s harder to see anyway.

AffIt · 21/02/2023 18:30

A cruise.

I genuinely can't think of anything worse than being stuck in the middle of the ocean on a floating petri dish / environmental nightmare for days on end with hundreds, if not thousands, of strangers.

(See also: large-scale music festivals, although they are at least slightly easier to make an exit from.)

Chikapu · 21/02/2023 18:31

Sky diving
Swimming with dolphins/cage diving with sharks
Public proposals
Getting caught up in a flash mob
Christmas day swim in a freezing sea.

Cosyblankets · 21/02/2023 18:32

Glastonbury

MissCherryCakeyBun · 21/02/2023 18:32

Paris... grubby expensive and rude

New Year's Eve parties.... boring and seemingly endless with an expensive taxi ride at the end

Blackpool..... no words needed

malificent7 · 21/02/2023 18:34

Sky diving
Bungee jumping
Race car driving
Chilli eating
Tik tok content creating

I am a boring person though...and proud!

2bazookas · 21/02/2023 18:35

Mine would be

"Finding out on Mumsnet that I got separated at birth from my identical twin "

Habreathmint · 21/02/2023 18:37

@Lolabear38 I take it you didn't scream and embarrass your husband? 😂

Did you scream?

TeenDivided · 21/02/2023 18:37

Venice.
Great disappointment when I visited as a teen. Run down, and far too much walking.

Thistooshallpsss · 21/02/2023 18:42

Oooh I wanted to drive the 500 although not camp do local people hate you for doing it? Scotland is so beautiful maybe drive another bit of it instead??

So1invictus · 21/02/2023 18:45

Agree with Venice. I shan't go back again. (though am in Puglia and money grabbing Venetians endlessly whinging about too many tourists while charging them 10€ for a coffee, too much water and then unbelievably this week not enough water get our goat anyway)

Sharm el Sheikh and the like. Dubai etc.

Australia.

Bunjee Jumping and all that terrifying stuff.

Wedding invitations/hen weekend invitations

So1invictus · 21/02/2023 18:46

Camping!
Barbecues- standing up and eating my dinner with a plastic fork. Why?

Ringmaster27 · 21/02/2023 18:48

cant remember the actual name of it - but it’s like bungee jumping except you don’t “bounce” back up on the rope. You’re harnessed, but you step off a high platform until you fall and land on a huge crash pad. I’m not scared of heights, but I am apparently terrified of the feeling of falling 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ringmaster27 · 21/02/2023 18:49

Oh and 100% agree with camping.
I’ve served in the army so spent more than my fair share of time sleeping outside in some horrible conditions.
why would I subject myself to that for fun?!!

RedPandaFluff · 21/02/2023 18:51

Pot holing, caving, spelunking or any activity where you're squeezing through small caves and gaps. Noooooooo thank you! Not since I read about Nutty Putty Cave, anyway.

Daleksatemyshed · 21/02/2023 18:51

Pot holing- why would you want to risk getting trapped in a tiny space where the emergency services would have to risk themselves to get you out?
Glastonbury, or any festival with mud, horrible toilets and thousands of people

RoseGoldEagle · 21/02/2023 18:54

Swimming with dolphins in NZ. Sick on the boat, my wet suit was too big and I was absolutely freezing, and honestly thought I might die from the shock of jumping in, I then saw a few fins dart around me in quite choppy freezing water, then climbed back aboard to feel sick for the journey home.

It's the" Oh this is our one hundredth and twenty tooty cruise and we are titanium guests" people who would drive me wappy.

Shunkleisshiny · 21/02/2023 18:55

What a great thread btw.

redspottedmug · 21/02/2023 18:55

Are we meant to be offering bucket list experiences that we have actually done?
Otherwise it's just pointless speculation.
