Reverse Bucket List…

user1496262496 · 21/02/2023 18:13

What would be your reverse Bucket List? Experiences that are meant to be awesome, once in a lifetime moments… but in reality rate as anything from ‘meh’ to ‘fuck that!’

Mine is…

A spa day. Totally boring and over priced to wallow in a pond of other people’s filth.

Everest Base Camp… never seen such a pile of litter. Made me feel sad.

Christmas shopping in London. Sensory nightmare.

North West 500… how to become the most hated being on the planet, drive a camper van round the narrow lanes of north Scotland.

Designer outfit. I still looked like a mad old bat.

Fish and chips by the sea at sunset. Getting covered in the shit of psychopathies seagulls isn’t what happens on Instagram.

Also
Raw kelp carb diet healing retreat.

Festivals
karaoke
a day at the races I’d be bored stiff ditto rugby matches.

twistyizzy · 21/02/2023 18:58

Cruise
Caravanning
Dubai
Sky diving
Festival
Caving (done it twice and never, ever again)
Driving a racing car
Camping
Murder mystery night, or indeed any forced fun as it certainly isn't fun

Pot holing, caving, spelunking or any activity where you're squeezing through small caves and gaps. Noooooooo thank you! Not since I read about Nutty Putty Cave, anyway.

Google Neil Moss Peak Cavern, truly horrific.

CocoFifi · 21/02/2023 18:59

I have a dream to sail around the World, with my husband. Downsized our house and are off to view two yachts, on Friday and hopefully make an offer on one

nothingmoreatthemo · 21/02/2023 19:02

1.Spa days
2.Glastonbury (or any kind of muddy camping-fest)

  1. Anything that involves jumping from a great height (airplanes/bungee). Like why would you put yourself through that?
nothingmoreatthemo · 21/02/2023 19:03

The leaning tower of Pisa. Lots of steps on a tilt and that's basically it.

garlictwist · 21/02/2023 19:05

I've cycled the North Coast 500 and it was ace. Although it was years ago now before it got popular so it wasn't too busy.

Mine would be open water swimming. Fine, in Spain. Here - cold, muddy, full of reeds, boggy, windy, grey. No thanks.

Rellywobble · 21/02/2023 19:06

Spa days
Dubai
Anywhere that involves having to dress up in heels etc

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/02/2023 19:08

Yep to everything already mentioned with the exception of spa days, I bloody love a spa day.

Are we meant to be offering bucket list experiences that we have actually done?
Otherwise it's just pointless speculation.

Presumably not, because if you have a bucket list of things you've done, it's not a bucket list, just a list of things you've done, surely?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 21/02/2023 19:14

@redspottedmug

'Otherwise it's just pointless speculation.'

A bit like life then? Sad

Lemondrizzle20 · 21/02/2023 19:16

Corporate away days and other forced fun. I may or may not have deliberately arranged dentist visits to avoid them. I don't mind socialising though - with people I actually like.

Stonehenge. Why, when there are so many truly glorious prehistoric monuments to explore, on far less dangerous roads, is it Stonehenge that gets all the press! Once is far, far more than enough.

If you'd already done them then they wouldn't be on your bucket list. People know if they're probably not going to enjoy something. I know I am never going to enjoy bungee jumping as I'm terrified of heights so that's top of my list.

I went to the Sistine Chapel. You walk through lots of rooms and hallways before you get to it - all of them have painted walls and ceilings. When you finally get to the actual chapel it’s just another room with another painted ceiling - except the light is dimmer in there to protect it so it’s harder to see anyway.

Totally agree!
It was the only think I saw in Rome that I was really underwhelmed by.

Did u scream whilst there 😂

Grizzledstrawberry · 21/02/2023 19:24

Skydiving, only a lunatic would want to do it.

Hot air balloon, again only a lunatic would want to get in a floating balloon basket.

Spas too, don't want to be prodded and poked all day in the name of relaxation, give me a pizza and netflix over that any day.

Cruises, they make me feel claustrophobic just thinking about one.

Swimming with dolphins, or anything similar, cruel and unnecessary.

Any kind of sporting event, cycling, marathons etc, I'm way too lazy.

Yes, things that you got excited for, but turned out to be utterly underwhelming, or down right horrible.

I am going to add London Dorchester Hotel to my list. I would rather have kept the money and stayed in travel lodge. Really not worth £100’s

They're not on anyone's bucket list though, no one thinks they're 'meant to be awesome, once in a lifetime moments'.Grin

This would never have been on my bucket list but might be on someone's - St Peter's, Rome. Never been in a church or cathedral with such a lack of atmosphere.

user1496262496 · 21/02/2023 19:25

Defo agree with Stonehenge. I had it in my mind that it would be tranquil and set in a beautiful landscape. It made me sad on behalf of the people who built it

Music festivals. The reality : Getting sunburnt, filthy, ripped off, groped, no sleep, possibly robbed and being unable to get within 200m of the acts you want to see. Never again.

redspottedmug · 21/02/2023 19:27

Thank you, that's what I thought you meant Smile

Will have a ponder

Anonymous48 · 21/02/2023 19:29

We went swimming with dolphins years ago in Orlando, and it was amazing!

I can't think of anything that was on my "bucket list" that I've been lucky enough to do, which has then underwhelmed me to be honest. I don't have a very long bucket list and I can't imagine anything on it not being incredible.

I just pointlessly speculated, haven't done any of my list 😂but I know I would hate them! Does that still count lol

ScottBakula · 21/02/2023 19:30

mine would be .
Spa day ,

Anything that involves me getting cold and/ or wet.

Large music festivals, I love like music and have been to many gigs but the though of going to somewhere that the stage is so far away the band could be anyone and paying a ridicules price for the privilege, umm nope thanks ,

Cloths shopping in a expensive shop.

Going to the hair dresses as a treat , I go when my fringe is so long I risk bumping into lamp post .

Riapia · 21/02/2023 19:30

Stonehenge.
I took DD10 and DS8.
After standing and admiring it for a few minutes DS, in a loud voice, “When does it start.”
