I'll start....

It doesn't matter you have two kids and have lived together five years , he's your boyfriend, not your partner if you are not married...

You are a terrible mother if you introduce a partner of less than two years to your children...

The on the beach advert is mentally scarring...

I think the opposite is true on MN actually. Families supposedly should never help each other out!

In fact no one should ever help anyone out. If you ever need or ask for any type of favour you are a CF and if you do anyone a favour you are a doormat who needs to set better boundaries!

In RL its normal for friends and family to give/receive favours without anyone being massively offended (...or so I thought....?)

bluelollipop99 · 21/02/2023 15:52

On Mumsnet it is a moral weakness to be annoyed at the other woman if your husband cheats on you.

IRL, plenty of rage to be directed at both !

OP posts:
Dumbo18 · 21/02/2023 16:03

Why would you even consider opening your door to a CF who has had the nerve to knock. You should clearly stay sat on the couch, wait for them to leave and then come straight to mumsnet to moan about how it inconvenienced you

Fairyliz · 21/02/2023 16:07

All children are starving because of wicked Tories, despite the fact that most of them are the size of houses.
Must be terrible to never eat but not lose weight, although useful with climate change.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/02/2023 16:10

@bluelollipop99 Yep- we are all expected to just feel rage for the H (naturally) IRL - you are usually enraged at both- saying 'she owed you nothing' doesn't really help. Human nature to hate the other person involved too - even more so if it's someone you know and knows you

Yuja · 21/02/2023 16:16

All children with a flower name like Poppy, Lily, Daisy will never ever be taken seriously for a career. Even though there will be many thousands of them in a few year and I'm sure they'll manage.

All mumsnet teenagers are 'tall and willowy'

tattygrl · 21/02/2023 16:21

I think most people responding to this post are simply putting the opinions they find most annoying/disagreeable, because we're really running the gauntlet. Nonetheless, I am enjoying enormously 😂

WildFlowerBees · 21/02/2023 16:27

If you have an inconsiderate neighbour you should put up with it or buy detached.

Someone left a wheelie bin on your driveway? Call 101

Someone parked in your space? block them in and call 101.

Neighbour being nosy? call 101.

If you own a horse you are a privileged snob who needs to pick up your horse shit and never get annoyed when a random feeds it god knows what.

Everyone should love kids, they should be allowed to go wherever adults go and if you disagree you are an awful person and what are you even doing on Mumsnet.

bluelollipop99 · 21/02/2023 16:28

The best thing to do after kicking an arsehole ex out isn't to surround yourself with friends / family; but to enrol on the "freedom programme," so you can educate yourself about the risks of domestic abuse

If your partner expresses an opinion about your appearance or actions then he is controlling and you must instantly LTB.

80s · 21/02/2023 16:49

If you do not scrub your legs in the shower, you will smell so much that others will be able to guess that you have merely let the water run down them.

LolaSmiles · 21/02/2023 17:20

The MN bathing requirements are always a laugh.

I only ever shampoo my scalp and let the suds do most of the length. By MN standards people would claim they can smell my hair several streets away.

That's if they haven't been overcome by the smell of fabric conditioner or (worse) a scented panty liner first....🤣🤣

LolaSmiles · 21/02/2023 17:33

Scented sanitary products! That's a blast from Mumsnet past. I haven't seen that in ages!

Some mumsnetters would give a sniffer dog a run for their money.

If your partner expresses an opinion about your appearance or actions then he is controlling and you must instantly LTB.

However if you find it totally necessary to take him to task about his appearance and he ignores you then you should also LTB. In fact if the he in your life denies you the right to have everything 100% your way then LTB.

Any breakup at all really, and if you break up with somebody else later on you should do it again because you clearly hadn’t learned from it properly the first time.

I do wonder whether these posters actually do the Freedom Program on a twice annual basis themselves, or if they are just enjoying judging other women’s relationship misfortunes.

Ericaequites · 22/02/2023 03:29

Love bombing naughty children is the right thing to do.
Babies come with timers on their backs. If you dare feed them so much as a spoonful of oat porridge before six months, the baby will explode.
The right time to wean a child is when he can read chapter books.
Boys are better off at coed schools, but girls do better at single sex schools. There’s no way this can work in real life.
Everyone has mani/pedis and waxing regularly.
Hen parties have to be elaborate and extravagant multi day sagas.
Children shouldn’t play with dogs until 21.
You should have a massive white wedding even if you already have multiple children.
It’s possible to have twenty-seven children while feeding them on £ 38/week and give them plenty of 1:1 time while never expecting the older children to pitch in.
Not working full time while raising children gives them a bad example and will be a disaster if your husband leaves you.

Couldyounot · 22/02/2023 04:29

Squeamishness almost to the point of phobia about any man using a toilet in a private dwelling
Men who reduce their working hours to spend more time with their children are losers who lack drive
Men who work all the hours they can to provide for their families are selfish arseholes who are probably having multiple affairs
Guru-level whataboutery
Attacking posters for not considering the most improbable set of circumstances before posting
Attributing every form of suboptimal behaviour to anxiety or neurodivergency

If you want a daughter for any reason, or have 7 sons and would like number 8 to be female, then you don’t deserve to have children and should stop inflicting your outdated gender stereotypes on them. In fact, boys are far superior to gossipy moany girls, so chilled out and loving, and the posters are actually far more likely to do a spa day with their grown sons than their daughters.

Thedogscollar · 22/02/2023 12:38

shinynewapple22 · 20/02/2023 20:27

I don't recognise most of these as being general views of a majority on MN.

Opinions differ.

LolaSmiles · 22/02/2023 12:52

Cuppsoupmonster
To be fair whilst I don't like the nasty 'don't deserve to have children' comments, I can't help but think it is really silly to have another child in the hope that you get the right flavour. That's before the threads where people are hysterically saying they're reduced to endless sobbing because the baby they wanted isn't the right kind of baby and they're not sure how they can get past it.

You've given me some more MN opinions though:

If you have a son then he's going to inevitably forget about his mum (probably because the same bat shit women who say this are also the bat shit women who expect their husband to ditch his family because she's now queen bee).

That life is one big competition for mothers of adult sons and partners of adult sons. Both should always be arseholes and stroppy about whether they feel enough of a princess in his life. in reality he needs to grow a backbone and stop enjoying the fuss
