Today BJ is stirring up the DUP to oppose Sunak's N Ireland proposals, whatever they may be. Surely there can't be a second chance for the idiot responsible for our current mess? There aren't enough stupid people in our country to let him in again I hope. Will he unseat Sunak?

I think that hope may be in vain, sadly.

"The greatest trick Johnson ever pulled was convincing people he was popular."

In fairness Truss' approval ratings hit -47% so Johnson's were not the worst of the bunch last year. I believe she was very popular with members too.

He is insanely popular with Tory party members. That is all that really matters to the Tory party, what the rest of the country thinks is completely irrelevant to them, aside from a four week period before each general election when they feel they ought to feign a little interest for appearance’s sake.

This is very true.

ClairDeLaLune · 20/02/2023 09:26

This is the country that voted for Brexit. Collectively, as a majority, we are stupid. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if that lying, selfish, manipulative, power-mad, embarrassing twat ended up as PM again. And we will once again be the laughing stock of the world.

She was only popular with me,vers because the alternative was a non-white person.

A few years ago I remember joking about Brexit and the thought of Donald Trump being POTUS, as if those things would ever happen! Don't underestimate the stupidity of the general public.

user1471505356 · 20/02/2023 09:30

Boris has bought a £4 million pound house fortunately couldn't afford PM job.

User1483568 · 20/02/2023 09:33

Why are people that hate BJ spending so much time on here talking about him

Goodread1 · 20/02/2023 09:37

Just like in America with Trump, its style over substance,

If someone comes across as media savvy personable,

There are gullible enough people still around like before, who voted Boris in First time , and will feel in a some way it was just a combination of misfortune that Covid came along and doesn't everyone make mistakes/not perfect kind of mentality,
And would be willing to give him enough chance opportunity to prove himself, or in his case give him enough rope ect

The majority of the adult population didn't vote for Brexit and neither do the majority of people who vote, vote for the Tories (inc when Labour get in too)

Shocking system of voting including in Referendums too, needs to be a min number and %/majority.. just like Unions have to in order to call a strike or if someone wishes to change the rules of their local sports club.

Johnson doesn't want to be PM again, he wants to stay relevant, so boosting his appearance money at the after dinner speech circuit.

longwayoff · 20/02/2023 10:00

Boris has paid 4m for a new house? Dont believe it. I wonder who he's knocked for the bill for it. He doesn't spend his own money. That's why he owes so many favours, as evidenced by the Party he constructed. Arise Sir Grasper and thanks for all the fish.

If it was a choice between Starmer the human bollard (who still doesn't know what a woman is) and Partygate Boris, I'd go for Boris every time.

Parties all come to an end, but eroding women's rights will set women back decades.

I would have said that Johnson's lies and self serving ambition will have a profoundly adverse effect on each and every one of us for generations.

This is the best you can do? Try harder.

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/02/2023 10:10

Given parts of the country voted for him despite him being a proven liar, and voted for Brexit, and repeatedly have voted Tory despite everything they have done and continue to do, it would not surprise me in the least if he got voted back in at some point….

caringcarer · 20/02/2023 10:30

I've noticed the progressive woke leaders are now imploding, in New Zealand and Scotland. Starmer is uncertain of what a woman is and Sunak and Hunt are taxing everyone to the hilt. Personal tax codes have not been updated as they were previously and more and more people are having to pay more tax. I'd not be surprised to see Boris back. At least he believes in lower taxes. About a month ago he was calling for Sunak to give Ukraine fighter jets. Sunak held out for a while but looks now like he is going to let Ukraine have them. It just looks like he is not on top of situation. Also Boris was in favour of boosting the defence budget but Sunak and Hunt did not do so. Now defence chiefs saying if UK was attacked we may not be able to fully defend ourselves. Sunak and Hunt need to up the defence budget. The bill going through parliament at the moment was started when Boris was PM. Sunak is hoping he can cancel it but unless EU agree the UK can send food to NI that will remain in NI and not get in to Ireland itself is agreed we need to push bill through. Boris has spoken out warning Sunak not to dissolve bill but to keep it going. I actually think on this topic Boris is right as with bill UK can make unilateral decision on what we send to NI, which is part of UK and should not be annexed like it currently is. I'd not vote for Sunak but I'd vote for Boris. I really don't care if he had cake or not. He at least reads the room. Billionaire Sunak, has simply no idea of how Normal families are struggling.

QueenOfThorns · 20/02/2023 11:14

Whether or not Boris Johnson knows how normal families are struggling is a moot point considering that he doesn’t give a flying fuck about anyone other than himself

Perhaps you can explain how Johnson proposes to increase spending while lowering taxes

CalistoNoSolo · 20/02/2023 11:26

Just because Sunak is a wholly inadequate PM does not make Johnson in any way a viable alternative. Johnson is destructive in his core, it's how he operates. He is entirely lacking any quality that makes him a suitable holder of power and influence. I find it equally baffling, depressing and unsurprising that people in the UK are still defending and apologising for him.

caringcarer · 20/02/2023 12:52

@Weightlossanne Sunak has been repaying our borrowing spent during pandemic at a rapid rate. Trying to repay it all very quickly. It would make more sense to repay this additional borrowing for the one off unforeseen event of pandemic spread over more years so personal allowances can keep up more. This would take some of the sting out of cost of living crisis. I know it means paying more interest overall but really some families are at breaking point. In same way many FTB's are taking out longer mortgages instead of traditional 25 years in full knowledge they will pay more overall. It is about keeping repayments within manageable limits. I think Boris would upgrade personal allowances to help families.

Alexandra2001 · 20/02/2023 13:36

@caringcarer You think Sunak is going to give Eurofighters to Ukraine? are you mad? or don't you know anything about Ukraine?

Eurofighter is a project between various other european countries, its also an extremely expensive plane, which the Russians would love to get their hands on.

I suggest you have a read up on the war and what we can and cannot give, the most NATO east european countries might do is give old mig29's to Ukraine and then the USA back fill with F16s.

the UK could find 14 tanks.... the so called training of UA pilots hasn't even started/train on what? Planes we will never give..
So zero hope they will do much other than talk.

BJ was PM for almost 3 years, he never lowered taxes, in fact his own appointed chancellor raised them.

But it does seem that the idiots do in fact believe Bojo is the new Messiah and will come again......

Untitledsquatboulder · 20/02/2023 13:41

If the public are stupid enough to reelect BJ then frankly the UK deserves to sink without a trace and frankly we already appear to be circling the plug hole.

I'm inclined to agree. At least if any individual really thinks he was ever a fit person to hold office and is seriously prepared to vote for a party led by him, I'm inclined to think their moral standards are on a par with his. Unfortunately the rest of society would also be affected by their decision.
